1.Explain each of the five (5) steps in the diagram of the risk management processRisks are generally an uncertain event which can effect project goals either positively ornegatively. Similarly, there are 5 steps involved in risk management such as- Step 1 : establish the context : - at this stage external and internal environment are examined inorder to generate the parameters under which organization may get affected by risks. However,after managing research criteria managers set certain goals and objectives in order to proceedfurther to work upon those business risks.Step 2 : identify the risk : - at this stage managers and their team members identifies , recogniseand uncover all those risks that can affect outcomes of project. Project risk register is preparedunder this step.Step 3 : analyse the risk : - at this level determination of likelihood and consequences of eachrisks are analysed by managers. However, he started understanding nature of risks and likewiseits consequences that may affect organisational goals and objectives.Step 4 : evaluate the risks : - after determining combination of likelihood, risk magnitude and its

consequences managers now ranks or evaluate the prevailing risks. At this level, certaindecisions are made to examine whether risks are serious to be treated or it is acceptable forbusiness environment.Step 5 : treat the risks : - this stage is referred to Risk Response Planning. The Highest rankedrisks are assessed and thereafter managers set out plans to overcome or treat the prevailing risks.2.Describe each of the following control measures, including an example for eachElimination : - All the risks or hazards that are prevailing under business environment regarding safety atworkplaces are potentially analyzed in order to outweigh them. For example, if poor lightingunder working areas are identified, managers would likewise improve the lightning in orderto remove risk hazards and develops safety environment for employees.Substitution : -Those hazards which are basically less if compared to other hazards are determined as itssubstitution. For example, comparing a toxic substance with its another substitute. IsolationAll the risks as well as hazards isolated by using distances or barriers. For example- keepingthe insulation nearby noisy equipment's. Engineering controls All hazards are controlled under the examination of engineers. For example- in order to remove alldusts or fumes, local exhaust ventilation is been controlled.Administrative controls At this stage risks are controlled from working areas or work flows. For example- to generate safetypractices, training and supervision, personal protective equipment etc.

3.What are some of the methods or communication channels to inform supervisor, higherauthority or employer, of a severe breach of Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws / rules atyour workplace or any workplace?Write answers belowSources of effective communication methods are : -Accessing information : - relative information regarding health and safety are accessed under thisstage. It can be managed through online resources including- safe work websites, WHS sites etc.however, discussion among supervisors, WHS advisory committees, peers etc. can be madeeasily by attending meetings / reading communications / directly contacting among WHS units.Forms of communication : - through several forums of consultation mechanism or WHSresources information's regarding health and safety are easily accessible through fire andemergency evacuation information, workplace advisory committee, WHS internet site, WHSperformance measure in UOW, hazards and incident reports etc. however it can also becommunicated through newsletters, emails, noticeboards, toolbox talks, posters and safetysignage.Information dissemination : Internal/ External : - under this stage information is provided viasupervisors or WHS advisory committee. Such health and safety information's that arecommunicated includes- chemical and plants that are being used, changes occurred underworkplaces, updates regarding WHS legislation, corrective actions that may arise regardingincidents whereas on the other hand, external information includes delivering useful facts tooutsider parties like- costumers, students, suppliers, public authorities etc. However, this can becommunicated through induction for students, material safety data sheets, product recalls etc.Safety alerts : - through this communication is made in organization by investigating aboutincidents or hazards related to health and safety under workplaces. However, relevantinformation related to nature and scale of incidents, potential for re-occurrence, its impact onorganization, type of risks etc. is determined under safety alerts.4.Explain why ‘Emergency procedures’ are significant to organisations. It is very crucial to determine safety of employees and their visitors to developemergency procedures because such situations can arise virtually at any time. However,as a manager under hotel industry procedures need to be implemented accordingly based
