INTRODUCTION
Working with and leading people is a statement which denotes that an individual must
know how to perform the job role in a group with having ability to lead a team. UPS (United
parcel services) is the world's largest parcel service in UK which provides solutions of supply
chain management (Lorenz, 2012). In fact, this company is popular for its trademark brown
delivery and because of this, company is also named as “Brown”. This assignment is all about
management of UPS by highlighting hidden issues and barriers which influence their success
path. In fact, it shows proper documentation of recruiting and selecting the best candidates for
overcoming problems faced by enterprise. Apart from this, report is going to understand different
learning styles for applying it on their company and influence of leadership on entire association.
Therefore, major purpose of assignment is to motivate employees to perform their work in a
team by coordinating with each other. At the end, it shows assessment process for identifying the
development needs to every individual.
TASK 1
1.1 Documentation for recruitment process
UPS is one of the famous parcel companies which provides delivery services across
international boundaries at right time by having its branches in around 220 countries and
territories (Frieden and Winnegar, 2012). In fact, this enterprise delivers more than 15 million
packages in a day to almost 7.9 million domestic as well as foreign consumers and the firm is
popular in the world because of their fast services. Additionally, it also operates own airline
services and air cargo delivery for transferring goods and services at a right time at a right place.
But in the past few years, UPS is facing few problems related with leadership, management and
administration which influence their entire business operations (Maznevski, 2013). Furthermore,
due to this, almost 50 employees and few senior managers left the enterprise which shaken the
root of a company. Therefore, to overcome these problems, supervisor of UPS is going to
conduct recruitment and selection process for hiring new or deserving candidates. Hence,
appropriate documentation is described as follows:-
Step 1:- Advertised position and empty vacancy at marketplace by highlighting required
capabilities
Step 2:- Monitoring and reviewing resume for shortlist eligible candidates

Step 3:- Telephonic conversation between recruiter and individual
Step 4:- Conducting and preparing face to face interview for getting aware with skills or
knowledge of employees
Step 5:- Assessment technique for identifying the best alternatives among a large pool of
candidates.
Step 6:- Final round for discussing necessary terms and conditions which are indispensable
while working in UPS
Step 7:- At last, clear all the essential compensation plan without any confusion
Step 8:- Collection of necessary documents which are required for every job for example -
Mark-sheet of 10th and 12th

Experience letter if any past experience
Being the HR manager in UPS, I need to follow these above steps while recruiting
employees for a particular position because of company policies.
1.2 Impact of legal, regulatory and ethical considerations on recruitment process
Governing and legitimate bodies play an eminent role in removing discrimination during
selection process by implementing numerous laws, norms, terms and conditions which are
essential for the HR manager of UPS to follow (Day and Leiter, 2014). Therefore, for continuing
the recruitment process, HR team has to consider certain steps which are necessary to fulfil the
selection process legally. According to law, few questions are considered as illegal and recruiter
does not have authority to ask. Hence, examples of exempted or unacceptable queries are
detailed as below:-
Questions related with race, religion and caste are seen as illegal
Selection on the basis of gender is not accepted at workplace as according to law rules,
it is considered to be unlawful.

Except salary expectation other questions which are linked with financial condition are
considered to be illegal.
These above exemptions are set by legal bodies which must be considered by the HR
manager of UPS while hiring new employees (Charles, S. 2017). In contrary to this, regulatory
bodies also set some standards and norms which must be followed by selector during selection
process as described below:-
Equal and proper respect is required while appointing employees.
Absence of discrimination on the basis of sexual, race, religion, colour, caste, etc.
Hence, it has been understood that legal and regulatory bodies have a great impact on
recruitment because they are responsible for setting ethical terms and conditions which must be

Selection of best alternative process is not a simple undertaking as it requires a specific,
gifted and knowledgable individual to execute the general choice program (Mendenhall, 2012).
As a general director of world largest parcel service I need to deal with all the assignment and
exercises which will going to happen while leading recruitment program. Aside from this
selection method requires a valuable information and data about possibility to choose meriting
competitors as per their skills and ability.
As a general director of referred association I have to perform specific roles and
obligation in selection procedure.
Appoint opportune individual at a correct activity which implies fitting choice of meeting
boards.
Actualize or execute general determination program in compelling and productive way.
Make a domain free from separation

very active in organizing the interview process because I am responsible to fill the vacancy the of
an organization. Being the selection head I have to accomplished necessary task which is
detailed below:-
Supporting in attaining objective of recruitment process by following proper steps which
is set by higher authority as per company rules and regulations.
Conduct advertisement programmes for identifying eligible individual.
After that I need to short list deserving and suitable candidates.
Prepare questionnaire for conducting interview.
Monitoring of individuals for selecting suitable ones.
Conduct final interview session for choosing best alternative among number of
candidates.
Thus, all these above roles and responsibilities are performed by me during hiring process
because as a HR manager I need to fill the vacant position of UPS for proper running of entire
association.
2.1 Skills and attributes requires for leadership
For identifying a perfect and appropriate leader number of qualities and attributes are
determined and if those abilities are available in a specific individual then only he/ she is capable
of becoming a great leader (Bush and Middlewood 2013). UPS is largest enterprise which are
having its branches in number of countries so due to this leaders of this company requires a lot of
leadership quality for managing entire team. Therefore, while identifying qualities of leader an
individual must have some following abilities and attributes which are explained below:-

Honesty:- First and foremost speciality is that a good leader is to be honest towards their
work as well as team management for gaining their confidence and trust. Communication:- Effective interaction skill is required for head of the team because
leaders are liable to convey necessary messages and provides lessons of achievement.
Therefore they need to learn how to communicate with others in a polite way. Patience:- It is essential to have a high level of patience while leading a team so that they
can manage their team in a effective manner. Confidence:- They need to be very confident towards their job role and motivate team
members towards set objectives by boosting their morale or confidence level.
Decision maker:- One of necessary capability which is mandatory for leaders is to know
how to make effective and corrective decisions.
