INTRODUCTION
Working with leading people is one of the important components in order to run overall
business of the company which also helps in accomplishing objectives and goals. Further, it is
important for HR manager to formulate all the policies, strategies and tactics through according
to the needs and requirements of workforce so they accomplish their targets in effective manner.
Apart from it HR manager require to use such effective method of recruitment through which
they can select best and professional candidates for vacant job positions. Under this project the
company which is preferred i.e. United Parcel Service which is UK based world largest parcel
organization who has their central package delivery operation in which their main focus is to
deliver to retail stores with special delivery mail delivered for its largest client the United states
postal service and it comprises of 434000 employees. This project is all about all issues and
hurdles faced by UPS in managing people and at the time of recruitment also. Apart from it
discuss about all the legal, regulatory and ethical impact, difference between leadership and
management and importance of team work.
TASK1
1.1Documentation for recruitment process
UPS is one of the largest multinational parcel companies who diversified their branches
at different countries i.e. 220. Apart from it, company deliver more than 15 million packages in
all over the world in which 7.9 are domestic as well foreign countries. The USP of this company
is that it provides fastest delivery of parcel that helps in satisfying the needs of customers.
Further, company has their own logistic system and they transfer goods and services through
their own airline services and air cargo delivery. But now a days company facing the problems in
their leadership skills, administration and management that affect overall working conditions and
daily targets also (Andersen, 2012). Lack of training development process and conflict between
leader and their followers induces 50 talented workers of UPS to left organization. In order to
come in stable position HR manager of UPS is now going to conduct recruitment selection
process with an objective of hiring new and innovative employees for which appropriate
documentation made by them prescribed below:-

Step1:- First of all HR manager require to advertised information related to vacant job position
along with eligibility criteria.
Step2:- After that examine and reviewing resume in order to shortlist candidates from the pool
of applicants.
Step3:- After that use telephonic mode in order to communicate with candidate.

Therefore, it essential for the HR manger of UPS to consider all the above condition in order to
retain potential employees and maintain the brand image of company.
1.2 Impact of legal, regulatory and ethical considerations on recruitment process
UPS is UK based large parcel company which need to adhere with all the rules regulation
enforced by UK government in order to maintain the decorum and ethical principles in overall
operations of business. According to scale of business whether large, small and medium different
code of conduct and legal laws applied to them which they need to adhere with (Ang, 2012).
UPS at the formulating HR policy has to compile with all compulsory laws at the time of
conducting selection process. According to legal laws there are different questions which are
unethical or illegal and interviewer have no authority to ask such questions from candidates.

followed by HR manager while performing their job role. Apart from it manager never be partial
and treat equally to all employees at the promotion, transfer and rewarding them for higher

Selection is the most important process that allows HR manager to select best candidates
for the vacant job profile from available pool of applicants. As general manager of UPS I need to
frame systematic procedure of selection that contains all the activities that need to conduct
during whole recruitment program. Apart from it, analyzing the selection strategies of
competitors then choose the best for company according to vision and objectives (Boone, 2015).
As general manager of UPS I need to perform my roles and responsibilities very
diligently during selection procedure. Following points require to be performed are:-

Consider every variables and alternatives and choose the best process for organization.

Apart from it company require to use such tools and mechanisms that help in establishing
coordination and harmony among workforce and superior in HR team that help in selecting the
best candidates at right time for vacant job position. Choose the optimum source of recruitment
i.e. internal and external which fulfills all the legal norms and helps in reducing cost and increase
efficiency of UPS. Further, UPS HR manager require to look all the internal affairs of company
to ensure that unethical working practices are not conducted in daily operations of organization.
Therefore the above points need to consider by UPS manager at the time whole process of

1.4 Own contribution in selection process
HR manager of large organization plays an vital role in overall operations and selecting
right candidate for vacant job profile after considering their skills and ability whether they are
enough to fulfill criteria of job. As a recruiter manager of UPS I need to actively participate in
the recruitment procedures and organize an interview process to fill the empty spaces because the
main task of HR manager is to appoint and hire new employees according to the requirement of
organization. Different activities that are necessary to perform under it are described below:-
Conducting all the procedures of recruitment and selection according to the set guidelines
prepared by strategic level which help in carry out whole operation in effective manner.

If HR manager select external source of recruitment then use social media, advertising
mode and public news regarding job vacancy in newspaper and magazines so those who

Lastly conduct interview an select the final candidate which HR manager feel that this
person by using their skill and ability improve overall quality of services and bring better

In dynamic environment different changes are coming in corporate world in terms of
technology and innovation so in order to beat all the challenges of external environment leaders
of organization need to think out of the box and develop such skill and ability in them that help
them to understand all the alteration coming in business world. UPS is the largest parcel division
of UK having different branches at global reach therefore for the smooth working and maintain
sustainability in this sector both the manager and leader has to coordinate with each other so they
fulfill their responsibility towards organization. Apart from it other function which HR manager
of UPS has to accomplish with for better management of team it is important to have such leader
which consist of different leadership qualities are described below:-

feeling of team spirit among workers and improve their performance at the delivering services to
