Program to meet Legislative Requirements
Question 1
Health and safety legislation relates to the expectation as well as responsibilities of both the
employees and the employers whilst during work. The critical aspects of health and safety
legislation include health and safety of the employees, duty of care, and protection for all
including the patients (Claxton, 2017). The legislation also requires the employers to conduct
a regular risk assessment on the benefits of the job and the working environment.
Additionally, the legislation concerns the development as well as maintenance of a suitable,
safe, and appropriate working atmosphere. According to Potter et al. (2017), health and safety
legislation requires every employer to provide working systems which are risk-free, practical,
reasonable, and in this regards the employers are expected to promote hygienic and safe
working environment.
Question 2
Hazard is anything (behaviour, practice, situation, condition) which can potentially cause
harm including disease, death, or injury. An organization can identify hazards through
assessing past incidents, consulting the employees, getting information about equipment, and
inspecting work sites (Chapman & Thompson, 2016). On the other hand, the risk assessment
would involve identification of the factors which may have contributed to the risk, reviewing
of the health and safety information, and evaluating how severe the harm could be as well as
how the hazard may cause damage (Martinov-Bennie et al. 2014). Subsequently, risk
mitigation or control can be conducted through ensuring that all the equipment are in
excellent condition for operation and ensuring that the working environment is conducive and
safe for any operation. These mitigation programs can lead to minimal or no hazards in the
working environment.

Question 3
It is vital to note that work teams ought to be provided with relevant health and safety
programs or procedures to create awareness among the workers. The work team should be
provided with emergency procedures, first aid stations locations as well as health and safety
duties, including the responsibilities specified by the legislation (de FariaNogueira et al.
2015). These policies, programs, procedures, and legislation help the work to do right things
all times, therefore, avoiding unnecessary injuries within the working environment. Provision
of these systems also prevent confusion amid the work team hence promotes high-quality
services to the customers. Additionally, provision of any information regarding a past hazard
assists the work team to shun the occurrence of such a risk again.
Question 4
A safe working environment is more effectively and efficiently attained when everybody
involved in the work cooperates and communicates with one another to identify risks and
hazards which may affect the operations and service delivery. Consultative mechanisms help
the workers to find solutions concerning health and safety of the employees as well as
customers (Sinclair, 2014). Notably, the consultative mechanisms can aid in mitigating health
hazards and risks among the employees and patients. The work must consult each other often
to avoid risks which may occur in the workplace so that every can be safe at all times.
Outstandingly, consultative mechanisms entail collaboration and effective communication
amid the workers; this help in effective service delivery.
Question 5
The hierarchy of control sets out the sequence of the control measures beginning from
riddance to substitution, engineering, followed by administration, and eventually personal
protective equipment (Abbas & Khan, 2014). The hierarchy is demystified according to five
levels, and level one involves undertaking the work on solid construction or ground. Level
