INTRODUCTION
Resource Management could be described as a procedure by an enterprise manages and
controls its various limitedly available resources to the optimum level with minimum wastage. It
involves preparing a well constructive plan including budgets for projects, people, equipment
and supplies so that right resources are employed to right tasks (Bailey and et. al., 2018). The
project involves an extensive research that involves analysing resource requirements of three
different sectors including agriculture, engineering and call centre businesses respectively. It also
explains the importance of effectively using physical resources and further studies methods to
maximize effectiveness of firm's human resources. Lastly it reviews the need and importance of
effectively utilizing physical resources in an organization.
TASK 1
Analysis of resource requirements of different sectors
Resource management forms centrepiece of a repetitive process handling both
information and procedure that is designed to align skilled team with present and future
expectation of a business. Efficient and effectiveness in this aspect benefits an organisation to
improve project performance, improved use of human capital, effluence in customer satisfaction
for both external and internal clients etc. The resources requirements for a business differs from
sector to sector. Mentioned below resource requirement of three different sectors are explained:
Agriculture Businesses
In UK agriculture industry covers total 69% of nation's land area and employs 1.5% of its
total workforce contributing around 0.62% in its GDP. For agriculture the most prominent
resources include land, soil and water (Statistics about the structure of the agricultural industry,
2018). They are requisite for farmer to have in order to reap and cultivate high yield crops with
least expense and damage to environment (Armstrong and Taylor, 2014). Other than these agro
business requires availability of mechanization tools, place for car parking, toilets, containers,
latest structure of steel for supporting trough, dry and cold storage places.
Engineering Business sector
In UK manufacturing industry contributes 25% in its GDP. For an engineering business
organizations that is indulge in manufacturing of lightweight panel system for ships, planes and
rail cars most essential resource is aluminium. Further there is huge requirement of number of
machines including vertical and circular saw, jigsaw, shearing machines, milling and routing

machines etc. The most prominent of all these resources however remains the electricity or
energy that is required to operate all these machineries that is been utilized for the manufacturing
of panels from aluminium sheets and to recycle it (Manvi and Shyam, 2014). Coal is yet another
essential resource that is required for blast furnace process. Another resources involves coke; a
well establishes supply chain. Also there is need of maximum 13- 15 employees comprising both
skilled and professional workers.
Call Centre Business
In UK economy tertiary sector forms biggest component of economy comprising almost
80% of total GDP and similar contribution to employment as well. For a call centre business, IT
technology forms the major resource to be obtain apart from a building where the company is to
establishing it whole business set up. It involves various equipment’s like call routing, scripting,
integrated software, voice response system, internet etc. Also another most prominent resource
that is essential for organization to conduct its activities are a team of highly skilled professionals
(Tencati and Zsolnai, 2012). They form the requisite resources as they are the ones that interacts
with clients and provide them viable solutions for their various issues and queries. Further there
needs to be well organized and connected infrastructure of telecommunication and satellite
system. Depending upon size the requirement of human resource varies for instance a medium
size call centre requires 100 -250 employees to carry out various business activities.

generating maximum output and higher profits. It also helps in effectively handling issues
related to quality, use, efficacy, waste management etc. so as to further improve performance of
a firm and reduce its costs of production (Chen, Williamson and Zhou, 2012). In context to
mentioned above sectors i.e. agriculture, engineering and call centres for effectively utilizing
their physical resources these firms ensure:
Manage and monitor physical resources: In context agriculture, engineering and call
centre businesses firms make use physical resource management system that is a monitoring
approach that assists them to understand latest industrial trends, determining probable threats and

checking effectiveness of management strategies. This approach also assists firm to monitor

physical resources involves land fertility, water and seeds for production and activities
related to cultivating. In case of agriculture wastage of fertile soil, lack of irrigation
facilities or water negatively impacts the growth and nutrimental aspects of various
crops. In case of call centre physical resources mainly comprise of human resources.
Over or under utilization of skills, knowledge or capabilities of them results in
inefficiency in interacting with clients leading to customer's dissatisfaction and
ultimately reduction in sales volumes. In case of engineering business resources are
aluminium, raw materials, system panels and manufacturing operations and machineries.
In reference to call centre these physical resources include team, network system, it
related equipment’s and service abilities of firm (Uzonna, 2013). Irrespective of nature
and type of enterprise or industry, wastage of resources in all context exert negative
