FACEBOOK STAKEHOLDER ANALYSIS
Introduction
Facebook is an online social media and networking services company based in Menlo
Park, California, USA. It was founded by Mark Zuckerberg along with his fellow students
and roommates at Harvard College Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz, Chris Hughes and
Andrew McCollum. Initially started out as a social platform limited for Harvard College
students, Facebook now is one of the Big Four technology companies of the world (Barr,
2019).
Since 2006, Facebook has become a social platform for people all over the world.
Anyone above the age of 13 can become a member of this platform. In February 2012,
Facebook held its initial public offering (IPO) worth the value of $104 billion (Longo, 2019)
This is, for the record, the largest valuation till date for a newly enlisted public company. The
website earns most of its revenue from advertisements. However, membership is free and, as
the company policy says, “...always will be”.
Mission and Vision of the company
The company’s mission and vision statement aims at leadership in impacting the
social relations across the world. This vision guides employees to focus their efforts to assist
business growth internationally. The mission statement of Facebook is “to give people the
power to build community and bring the world closer together”. (Newsroom.fb.com 2019)
The strength of Facebook Inc. is its strong brand image and innovative workforce. However,
diversification of business and service innovation remain a constant challenge for the
organization. The negative impact of advertisement on user experience is a threat as well.
