Introduction
In event management, selecting most appropriate venue is highly critical. This is because the
value proposition offered by the firm acts as a benefit that it adds to the overall benefit. The
major value preposition that is added by the venue is that it is at the centre of the city and it is
easily reachable and makes it easier for the company to make sure that it is easily accessible
by the company. Most outstanding benefit that it adds is the fact that it has huge sitting
capacity and large numbers of changes can be done at the event venue that can help the
company to make the event successful (Vancouver convention centre, 2012). It is the largest
convention centre in Canada. The use of West building will be beneficial as it has more
facilities than east building. This centre also has a see-view which makes the events more
beautiful. They have successfully conducted bike events in the past.
5 green practices
This Center is known for using green practices. Some of them are:
The West building roof is the largest non-industrial living roof in North America
having more than 400,000 indigenous grasses and plants. The roof also acts as
insulator reducing the heat which reduces the heavy requirement of air conditioner.
The roof also is a home to 4 beehives with European honey bee (Vancouver
convention centre, 2019).
In the foundation of the west building, there is a restored marine habitat is built. This
has helped them in improving the water quality in the area and has developed large
variety of sea life.
They have a sophisticated black water treatment plant that recycles black and grey
water which is again utilises in the toilets of the building and is also used for roof-top
irrigation.
In order to reduce the dependencies on the energy facilities, they are using the sea-
water heating and cooling system which takes the benefit of adjacent sea-water to
generate cooling for the building. There is a facility developed within the centre to
maximise the natural light and ventilation.
Throughout the building there is use of Local BC wood products from sustainably-
managed forest.
