Observation tool templateCase study patient: LydiaThe context of the case studyLydia is trying to move through the stair case with the help of her mother. Initially the child seems afraid and unable to climb but later she defines her method of overcoming the stair case through crawling. Further Lydia is on her colourful mat with her teacher and her friend. They seem to enjoy the fun together and participate in play activities.The actions in the case study observationDuring her interaction with her mother Lydia is making progress in trying to learn her environment. In the stair case, Lydia seems not to be willing to climb the stair case as normal. She bends down and through assistance of her hands she crosses over the stair case through crawling and eventually crossed over to the other side while her mother observes carefully. While on the mat, with her teacher, Lydia is seen joyfully playing with he friend and jumping up and down, this showspositive engagement with the learning environment which they live. Playing actively in the field withthe support of her teacher is crucial ensuring that confidence is built for the child.Learning aspects in relation to observed actionsIn this visual obseravtion it is evident that Lydia really has pleasure of engaging actively with her colleague and her educator. She appreciates the environment she is and is willing to learn new aspects of life skills. From the mat experience outside, Lydia exemplifies her ability to develop social skills with her friends and educators and the ability to communicate with her friends, family and even her teacher.Early Years Learning OutcomesOutcome ONE : Children have a strong sense of identity1.4 Children learn to interact in relation to others with care, empathy and respect.Outcome FOUR: Ability of the children to be confident and be involved in the learning process4.3 The ability of the children to transfer what they have learnt and adapt effectively.Outcome FIVE: Children ability to be effective communicators5.1 Interaction of the children to express both verbally and non verballyActions to undertake to enhance child learning ability towards positive development in their growth It is crucial to learn from these two observations that child Lydia is an active player who is willing toengage in her own environment and perform learning process. Hence it is important to offer support to the child to achieve the supportive role in the learning process. As a way of encouragingpositive interactions, i would encourage the child to enhance their playing skills with her friends.
