Introduction
The primary objective of this report is to conduct self swot analysis which is an effective
force through which one can market themselves. I aspire to become a laboratory assistant
which requires a wide range of skills. Even though I possess some of the skills there are a
number of skills that I must acquire in order to hold the job role. With the help of this swot
analysis, I will be able to identify my strengths as well as weaknesses within my career while
identifying the opportunities and threats that may behold. Even though swot analysis is an
effective medium with the help of which internal analysis can be conducted it is however not
enough to encapsulate all personal capabilities. I will therefore perform an action plan which
will help me determine the ways with the help of which I can capitalize on my strengths and
opportunities while minimizing the risks and threats.
Section 1: SWOT analysis
SWOT can be identified as an acronym that stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities,
and threats. It is critically used by organisations as well as individuals in order to incorporate
strategic plans with the help of which different goals and objectives can be met. The
following table identifies my personal swot analysis and the Job role that I intend to take up
as a laboratory assistant.

Strengths
In order to be proficient in the field of laboratory assistant it is essential to have the required
qualification along with the skill set in order to perform the day to day activities such as
receiving and processing samples to identify suitability while preparing for tests such as pH
and bacterial culturing (VK, 2013). The following points identify the strengths I hold that are
crucial when working in a laboratory.
Computer and technical literacy: In order to be a part of a laboratory it is essential to hold
literacy in terms of computer and technical knowledge. I hold the relevant qualification in
terms of a diploma. I am well versed with the computer techniques which will be effective in
documenting the results using the right methodologies and practises well adhering to the
procedures and policies of the organisation. As a laboratory assistant, it is essential to keep
track as well as maintain the results and through my knowledge in the area of computers
techniques and software, I will be able to ensure effective reporting of results and maintain it
on a regular basis.
Strong analytical skills: As a laboratory assistant it is essential to hold strong analytical
skills. As various samples and specimens were collected on a regular basis it is essential to
equip oneself with effective analytical skills. I possess this quality and ensure that accuracy is
maintained. With the help of analytical skills tasks become easy to perform And ultimately
enhance the overall efficiency. In order to succeed as a highly analytical laboratory assistant,
it is vital to pay great attention to details and therefore I am sure that I double check the
samples the classifying results as well as the recorded findings to maintain a high level of
accuracy.
Critical thinker: It is vital to be critical thinkers when working in a laboratory. This takes
into account understanding of the environment as well as the samples and the required tests
that are required to be performed in order to get the desired result. Therefore I believe that I
possess the skill of critical thinking through the years of educational qualification and the
additional experience I have gained after my diploma.
Understand complex information: One of the most important criteria is when working in a
laboratory is to understand complex information. Over the years of educational qualification,
I have summoned the understanding of these complex information (Mohamed et al. 2017). I
am also adaptable to critical situations that has help me to understand circumstances based on
my analytical and critical thinking ability so that the complex information obtained from the
air can be utilised in the most appropriate manner such that I can identify the correct presidios
