8.1 Reflection Questions
1. Describe YOUR performance in the conduct of:
a) Identifying hazards.
b) Conducting a risk assessment.
c) Implementation of strategies to control risks.
d) Overcoming barriers in the implementation.
e) Providing training to staff members.
Guidance: Address your strengths and weaknesses during the process (at
least one of each for each point) and how you will improve your
performance for the next inspection you conduct.
a)
During Hazard identification phase, I have tried to inspect every corner of
the premises while taking photographs of every detail in order to collect
as much documented evidences as possible. The details of the
photographs is the strength of this activity. On the other hand the major
weakness of the identification process is its dependency on still picture
based inspection.
b)
From the beginning to end of the risk assessment I have maintained
consistent communication with the workers and supervisors. The
cooperative work process where every workers and employer were helpful
to made the report is the major strength of this project. On the other
hand, the major weakness this is the unexpected errors in mitigation plan.
c)
I have developed the strategies as per my knowledge and experience in human
resource management system and occupational hazard mitigation process.
Throughout the process I tried to implement the appropriate action plan that can
successfully impose the Workplace Health and Safety protocols. The major
strength of my strategy was its effortful dependency on the required legislations.
The weakness is that it has inadequate discussion about the legislative policies.
Assessment Workbook 4 Version No. 1.1 Produced 31 August 2017
© Compliant Learning Resources Page 3
Document Page
d)
To overcome the barrier I communicated with the employer as well as
employees to convince while explaining the significance of the new Health
and Safety training. The strength of this overcoming process is it helped
to create the sense of urgency. However, The weakness is the lack of
action plan in the proposed structure.
e)
For the training based workforce development I have planned both on job and off
job training program. The strength of this process is it was not hampering the
work flow of the office. The strength of this feedback collection process is its
accuracy. After each training session I collected feedback from the trainees
regarding their experience and ambiguities. In this case, the weakness is the less
qualitative discussion on the collected feedback
2. Review the risks you have identified in the organisation during risk
assessment. List at least two (2) that you think are relevant or have an
impact in the whole organisation.
Briefly explain your reason for identifying those risks.
Guidance: Specify how these risks affect your own work responsibility
AND the work area, according to the organisation’s policies and
procedures.

Disputed floor carpet made the floor uneven and risky for walking for every
passerby. This kind of mistakes in workplace maintenance can cause frequent and
serious injury to anyone. Undoubtedly, when I first discovered the location I also felt
some fear for the potential outcome.
A large tray is placed over the top of furniture dangerously, beside the boardroom.
The tray was large and heavy enough to cause major injuries to anyone’s head.
Causing a head injury can be fatal issue for any organisation. After finding this
hazardous issue I decided that I will maintain a regular inspection to ensure that the
workplace is safe from this kind of misconduct.
3. Review the processes you have undergone from the hazard inspection to
the presentation of your report.
i. Write at least two (2) regulatory obligations and requirements that

imposed, which was my major concern while developing the presentation. In
order to ensure that before creating the presentation, I read the national data

On the other hand, by complying with occupational health and safety
regulation I maintain cultural and social competency throughout the session.
ii)

6. List at least two (2) areas in the contract that need improvement.
Briefly explain the reason for your selection.
Post hazard financial compensation system –According to Employee Care and
Compensation regulation, employers are bound to provide financial benefit to
the injured employee. It will allow the injured person to have all the financial
support to get full recovery from the injury through clinical procedure. The
current contract lacks the information regarding this issue, that is why it has
been chosen.
Routine auditing and error reporting system- It allows identifying potential
hazards and resolving those issues. The current contract plan does not have a
proper investigation and auditing system procedure or policy. Hence, this
section has been selected.
7. Based from the areas of improvement that you have identified,
recommend improvements that must be implemented regarding these
arrangements.
The awesome landscape should have appropriate cite hazard investigation and
auditing procedure with Routing audit and inspection system could help to
eliminate all the possible hazards
The organisation should change their post hazard compensation and financial
support. The organisation could increase their current employee compensation
amount, to improve the viability of the internal compensation policy.
