1.0 Journal entry: 1 ‘Know yourself’
In order to develop personal career an individual has to identify the inner strengths first.
Based on the inner strength and proficiency the person should proceed for rendering future
development. Gallup strength theory primarily aims to identify the strengths of an individual
with the help of which the person can reach the peak of career. After analyzing this specific
theory, I have evaluated five major strengths within me that can help me in achieving a
successful career path. The five strengths that I have founded out include Includer,
Connectedness, Restorative, Communication and Achiever.
Includer is the special trait of being co-operative with everyone with whom you are
working. With the help of this special trait, you can include every individual person of your team
coming from different backgrounds and attitudes. Being a professional one should not be
introvert (MacKie 2016). I have identified that I am possessed with the trait of connectedness.
Connectedness is my special trait based on which I can be attached with the people of diverse
cultural backgrounds and attitudes. The feature of Restorative enables me to deal with any kind
of situation. Every individual has to face immense problems and difficulties at the workplace.
This particular trait would help me in being accustomed with any kind of challenging situation
(Gordon 2012). Communication is one of the most significant components for being a proficient
professional. In order to exist in the field of event management an individual has to maintain
effective communication for widening the areas of network with public. Achiever is the quality
of adopting any kind of situation in a work environment and maintaining an enthusiastic and
courageous attitude at the workplace (Giesecke and Maxey-Harris 2013). This specific trait
would help me immensely in handling work pressure.

2.0 Journal entry 2: ‘Know your sector’
The theory of Johari is another form of evaluation method with the help of which an
individual can evaluate personal strength as well as the strengths of others. This particular theory
enables one to make a mutual understanding with the team members (Ianni 2012). While
working within a group individuals have to face immense barriers in cooperating with each
other. This specific theory would help to analyze the strengths and weakness of individuals.
Because of which performers can work together by maintaining collaborative decision. As
already discussed before, Gallup strength theory is constituted with several limitations. This
very specific theory enables one to identify own strong points with the help of which one can
find out the necessary path of career development (Reynolds 2012). On the other hand, Johari is
effective enough in evaluating strengths and weakness of others as well.
For an example if one individual member of a team is not comfortable in operating the
advancement of technology, the group would decide to give that person other responsibility apart
from handling technology (Schreiner 2013). This very specific skill is effective enough in
reaching the primary objective of work. While working within a team the performance of an
individual is not very much significant. Every personality should get equal flexibility and space
for showing their talent. Individual should be allocated their work as per expertise. As a result,
the quality of work would be maintained (Green et al. 2017). This very specific theory is very
much helpful in identifying the quality of others. Thus, individuals would be able to show their
skills and talents. In order to critically appraise two specific theory it can be stated that Johari
theory can be more effective for providing group performance. On the other hand, one cannot
deny the significance of Gallup strength theory.

3.0 Journal entry 3: ‘Let them know you’
For the enhancement of my personal career, both the two theories are equally important
for me. On one hand, Gallup strength theory helped me immensely in finding out my five major
strengths. With the help of this very specific theory, I can easily communicate with my team
members at the workplace. People belonging to various cultural backgrounds are associated with
the business organization. Therefore, in order to make them extrovert and include to my project I
can use my skill of connectedness as well as include equally. Every workplace is constituted with
several challenges. As an individual, I may have to face immense barrier in being accustomed
with the business environment. However, with the help of this very specific skill of Achiever, I
can easily overcome any kind of workplace challenges. Gallup strength theory helped me
immensely in maintaining a proper bond with my team members. As a result, we all get
motivation and enthusiasm for providing our best endeavor towards the services.
On the other hand, for being associated with a particular business organization identifying an
individual skill and competency is not effective enough. With the help of a proper skill and
competency level I can enhance my performance skill. But Johari theory helped me immensely
in learning on how an individual by maintaining a proper mutual understanding can reach the
business goal. If one individual member of my team is not flexible in communicating with
others, we should show our co-operative outlook. By maintaining non-verbal communication we
can share necessary thoughts and ideas for making effective business strategy. In addition, with
the help of this particular theory I got to know on how to maintain a good rapport with my team
