Chapter-1 Introduction
Background of study
In this section, it has been focused on the tourism organisation which has projected
that decline 4% per year in the tourism and also increased the economic recession. The
hospitality industry faced various kind of economic challenges because of recession, which
has made finding the best leader to fulfil all essential need or requirement for enterprise (Ali
and Anwar, 2021). Typically, UK industry manager dealt with increased the level of pressure
because of high competition level. Therefore, it has been suggested that leadership
performance plays an important role and directly affects the enterprise overall performance.
Hospitality enterprise need to employ effective leadership approach in order to improve the
consumer satisfaction, community outreach and other kind of employee relations. Without
any doubt, the significant role of leadership will be increased the good relationship between
employee as well as employers.
In past decade, it has found that changing the environment in hospitality industry and
demand that can stressful for employees. Different hotel staff members at multiple level have
shared their opinion and following a proper ethical approach. This kind of approach is
increasing the profitability as well as productivity of enterprise. By considering motivational
theories, it is always influenced staff members to achieve desirable goals or objectives of
organisation. Moreover, understanding the work values which plays an important role for
employees and enabled the business to use motivational theories that supports to improve
working condition, job structure. In some cases, it lead to create a new policies and
procedures that are satisfied need of employees. In this way, it is automatically increases the
overall performance of hospitality industry.
Aim
To investigate different motivational strategies used to improve employee
productivity within the UK hospitality sector. A study on Ritz Hotel.
Objective
To analysis the concept of employee motivation.
To study the various methods that can support the employee motivation in hospitality
sector.

Research scope
The hotel is the most significant contributor in terms of hospitality industry in UK.
Few years ago, it has been identified the slow economic condition, because of identified the
latest trend in the growth of revenue. The scope of study is to identify the major
improvements, the hotel in UK has been used different motivational theories and influence
staff members towards organisational goals or objectives (Ali and Anwar, 2021).. This kind
of opportunity supports to achieve improve the business productivity as well as profitability
in marketplace. Throughout study, it is majorly focused on the enhancement of staff
member’s performance because of increasing the quality of service. Hence, it will be gaining
more profitability of hotels. The research helps in terms of evaluating the actual performance
of employee in hospitality industry at UK, identifying the importance of motivational theories
which influence employees to serve the best longer or dedication towards job responsibility.
Research rationale
The purpose of research is to identify the role of motivation in terms of hospitality
industry. It is always encouraging the staff members to deliver the best quality of business
services. In this study, researcher will focus on identifying challenges which is mainly faced
by staff member at workplace. Majorly, it is focused on the working condition and become
challenge situation to motivate or inspire employees.

relevant information from different authenticate sources. It provides brief idea, assumption to
find the best possible outcomes.
Theme: 1 Employee Motivation
According to Hitka and et.al. (2021) employee motivation is one of the crucial aspect
in the organisation. It is the root which has been represented both downfall as well as
progress of organisation. In the workplace, employee motivation is usually defined the
attitude, behaviour of staff members and identify how they can behave towards work tasks, It
is desired of employees and focused on the energy which makes a people continually
showing interest, commitment towards job. In some cases, it is also expressed that motivated
employees can achieve desirable goals and objectives. In hospitality industry, employee
motivation is one of the important factor which is essential for enterprise to influence
employees towards performance management. For example- A manager of hotel is always
motivated and dedicated towards daily tasks, work harder and produce more. In this way, it
can easily define the concept of employee motivation that improves quality of every work
tasks. Being a motivated workplace, an enterprise have faced a lot of complexities. But a
motivated employee who are able to perform tasks in proper manner. Afterward, it can be
achieved the best possible solutions. Acha-Anyi and Masaraure (2021) said that employee
motivation refers to the creativity, commitment, energy and enterprise employees bring to
their jobs. Whether it is related to the growing business while motivating employee to handle
business operational tasks in step by step manner. In particularly, employee motivation is also
consider as dedicated approach in order to change mind-sets of employee in the workplace. It
supports to find the solution of particular problems or issues in proper manner.

motivation in the hospitality industry. It is always focused on consider the common theme or
strategies to express the confidence level of employees. In some cases, it is also increased the
possibilities to create a strong link between positive outcome and hard work. In general, it has
been used different methods.

Praise their work- in this technique, it is focused on the compliment staff members
and simply give a positive preference at the time of business operations. A hotel manager is
always tried to praise employee so that they can feel motivated to complete tasks, try to
concern about the requirement of employees. This type of method is helping employee
motivation in the hospitality industry.
Recognised the achievements- if some employees have consistently focused on the
specific tasks, and beyond. It is important to recognise the achievement and establishing a
strong connection employees. This will help to build a collaboration which is beneficial for
team members. In some cases, it shows the preference of employee that appreciate them and
give a proper suggestion.
Reward effort- Whenever it has praised and recognised the employees through
rewards. It helps to improve the overall performance of enterprise because employee
influenced with promotion, and plays as high achiever and accept challenging roles

confidence of employee and also gained more benefits for high achievement.
Offering constructive feedback- some employee have assumed that manager of hotel
will give a feedback on the basis of their performance. This kind of method is helping
employee to understand the motivational level and try to improve their capabilities. This can
be possible when offer a suitable constructive feedback from organisation side to employees.
In this way, each and every staff member can be achieved the best organisational success.
Theme: 3 Impact of motivation practices
According to Chami (2021) motivation practices are considered the different factors
for enhancing the employee motivation. It has been considered as one of the best aspect to
identify the actual requirements of staff member in the organisation. Different kind of
motivational practices such as reward, achievements, awards, recognition. These are several
kind of practices which is directly impact on the productivity as well as profitability of
enterprise. As considering the effective tool to inspire or motivate employee and their
performance. For example- salary of employee in hotel enterprise is becoming consider as
great motivator because it is always inspiring or motivating employees to achieve desirable
tasks.
