CHAPTER -1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background
Employees are most crucial for any organisation as they perform different function and
activities so that end objective of company can be achieved. There are ranges of employees
working in organisation with different taste, preferences and belief so it has become difficult for
enterprise to handle and manage them. Moreover, they also helped in bringing new and creative
idea related to the way company can perform particular task for gaining maximum benefits
(Chahal and Poonam, 2017). Thereby, this dissertation has covered information pertaining to
strategies that are used by enterprise operating in hospitality and tourism sector to reduce
employee turnover and enhance their retention.
1.2 Aim and objective
AIM
To analysis strategies that are used by Marriot hotel to retained and reduce employee’s
turnover ratio for growth and expansion of business in hospitality and tourism sector.
OBJECTIVES
To understand crucial information pertaining to employee’s turnover and retention
strategies used by company.
To identified impact of employee’s turnover and retention strategies on Marriot hotels.
To evaluate the strategies those are used by company to reduce turnover and retained
talented employees in the firm.
To suggest method that could be used to enhance employee satisfaction for benefits of
organisation.

1.4 Rationale
The topic related to strategies that are used for employee retention and reducing turnover
in hospitality industry of United Kingdom is important to study because in recent scenario
companies are facing in retaining talented employees. There are lot many organisation in which
employees are switching from one company to another in order to gathered better opportunities.
The enterprises are unable to plan strategies that they could use to reduce employees turnover
and their retention within organisation (Ohunakin, Adeniji and Oludayo, 2018). So, this study
will be useful for management, senior executive, human resource manager and companies that
are operating in hospitality sector of United Kingdom. As through this study they are able to take
necessary decision related to the way they can manage and retained highly talented, knowledge
and experience individuals within firm for longer time frame.
1.5 Dissertation structure
CHAPTER – 1 INTRODUCTION
This is chapter that provide overall introduction or background information pertaining to
area in which study is proceed and necessary information will be gathered. Thus it includes
rationale, aim and objective, research question and dissertation structure of the study.
CHAPTER – 2 LITERATURE REVIEW
The second chapter is related to literature review in which secondary sources such as well
know and published books and articles have been used to gathered sufficient information
pertaining to study.
CHAPTER – 3 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
The third chapter is related to research methodology that defined the exact manner in
which research will be proceed, or key method, tool will be used to collect, analysis and interpret
information (Kumar and Mathimaran, 2017).
CHAPTER – 4 DATA ANALYSIS
The fourth chapter is related to data analysis that includes key finding or result that has
been extract through conducting research. Thematic analysis will be used to represent the finding
so that other individuals can easily understand.
