Developing Literacy: Reading and Writing Strategy for Children_2
INTRODUCTION
Developing literacy is defined as the technique of learning about words, language and
sound. To ensure high level of literacy among children it is necessary to communicate with them
in context with both reading and writing process. There must be a relation between both literacy
skills and curriculum(Welch, Alfrey & Harris, (2020).It should enable children to interpret and
compose data in terms of different disciplines. The below report involves reading and writing
strategy, evaluation of strategies , development of learning experience and resources followed
by conclusion.
MAIN BODY
Reading and writing strategy and why they are essential in literacy development
In Australia there are different reading and writing strategies been used in order to
develop their children from birth till 8 years of age. They build up strong reading skills so that
children can achieve success. It is further been explained as below:-
Reading strategy:-
In Australia the reading strategy which they used was conducting a regular reading
routine for all children. They implemented this in order to increase their learning skills and their
reading abilities. From childhood only it is important for them to start reading so that they get
encouraged in having a better level of education(Stipek & Johnson, (2021). On the daily basis
they give books to children and sit with them to read whether they are reading it incorrectly.
With the help of this the children got interested in reading new words to whom with they were
unfamiliar.
Writing strategy:-
In Australia they focused on writing abilities of children also so for implementing it in
their early age of education they allowed all their children from birth till 8 years of age to use
crayons and make an attempt to write their first name(Maker & Wearne, (2021). A child should
always enable their writing abilities so that with respect to this they can communicate both in
writing as well as reading context. The main focus of Australian curriculum was mainly on
building their reading and writing abilities. They used to encourage all children to make effective
use of certain writing tools like pencils and crayons rather than ignoring them. They teach all

children that it is a part of their daily life to read books and write words so that they become
familiar with them.
Both reading and writing strategy are important for children’s literacy development
because by having strong reading skills they perform better in school and build up their image. In
Australia when they used to sit with children and read loud all words it enhance their vocabulary
at an early age only(Marcos and et.al, (2020). In terms of writing strategy Australia curriculum
use to give all children crayons and pencils on daily basis whether they are writing wrong so
with the help of this they were developing their literacy level.
Evaluation for relationship to Victorian Early years of framework, the Victorian curriculum and
policy
Victorian early years of learning and development framework is defined as an approach
in context with Children’s development(Duke and et.al, (2021). It determines different practices
in order to provide guidelines to early childhood professionals with all their families and children
from birth. The main vision of them is to ensure children from birth till eight years of age
become good communicators and build up their self confidence. As per the reading and writing
strategy being adopted there was a relationship with this framework. In Australia to build up
learning and development holistic approaches are mostly used and they respond to all children on
daily routine. So, as per the reading strategy been adopted in relation to sit together with children
and give them certain books. So, it is evaluated there was a effective relationship with Victorian
early learning and development framework as it also determines to value the culture and social
contexts and they children also use to get those books only. As in context with their writing
strategy as hey use to offer crayons to all children from their early age only so with respect to
this they share their own culture in terms of drawing. As with respect to Victorian framework
also they get indulge into different texts and use the media. Children in Australia starts reading
texts from their birth only and while drawing they try to use that information.
In context with Australian curriculum their main mission is to assure that all children
have necessary skills as well as knowledge in order to provide effective learning in Australian
community. It is used by schools by following certain polices and in context with this the
educational needs of children are been met(Coates, Harris & Waring, (2020). It is been
evaluated that there is effective relationship with Australian curriculum with reading and writing
strategy because it involve all children in reading out all digital texts and books. So, when

reading and writing strategy got implemented by them they made sure that they have build up a
relationship with their curriculum also(Cheung, Hui & Cheung, (2020). As per their curriculum
it is perceived to provide education since birth and develop all their skills.
Development and explanation of a learning experience by using resources which are associated
with reading and writing teaching
By evaluating the reading and writing strategy there were many resources which were
used during the phase of teaching. As in context with reading strategy different resources were
used. Teachers use big books through which they helped all children in reading out words aloud.
With the help of books children’s are able to recognise certain shapes and letters. In context with
the development of children since their birth it is evaluated that Australian curriculum found it
effective. As they were been provided with lots of story books which helped them in learning
words, signs and so on(Koriakin and et.al, (2020). By using the writing strategy as they were
given all crayons and resources on regular basis which helped them in determining the meaning
of specific word. All parents helped their children in reading out all words and write it down at
the same period of time.
The learning experience of children was very much positive as their knowledge and skills
got enhanced which is not at possible for children at such an early age. So, with respect to
Australian curriculum as they started using such strategies to develop their learning capabilities it
was very much beneficial for them(Clendon and et.al, (2021). There are various type of
resources which are been used like text books and audio which helped them in enhancing their
reading skills and at the same point of time different animations enhanced their writing skills.
Evaluation of learning experience and resources based on how they can support strengths,
interests and needs in relation with literacy development
The learning experience from building up reading and writing skills led to better literacy
development. In terms of reading and writing strategy it build up the interest in early age of
children and with the help of this their strengths got enhanced. It is a basic need of literacy
development that children should have necessary skills from birth only that they need to learn
something which will help them in future(Yang and et.al, (2021). With respect to reading
strategies been used it became a strength for them because their literacy level was getting better.
In Australian curriculum from early age only the focus was put up on children that their reading
and writing skills should get developed. Children also became interested because all parents as

well as teachers used to sit together with children and bring all the story books through they also
get interested in reading out. At the same point of time by using animations and doing drawing
people children get interested in writing out all alphabets and many more.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it is been concluded that from the early age of education only
certain reading and writing strategies got implemented by Australia. It is very important to build
up children skills so that in future they can achieve success. In Australian curriculum it is
important that all children should focus on their abilities with respect to their education level.
From early age only children got many opportunities in building up their skills with the help of
story books, videos, audio and so on .
