INTRODUCTIONManagement is considered as a process of managing and controlling all the operationsand functionality of the organisation in a more efficient manner. It can be a small, medium orlarge business; management is a very essential part of it as this helps in proper functioning ofthings and specifications. An organisation is said to be composed of different bodies withdifferent responsibilities while keeping a focus on achieving all the objectives of the company. The report is about discussing the responsibilities of the two bodies, manager and leader andalso, it covers various different situation's of an organisation and the way they deal with it inMarks and SpencerTASK 1P.1 Comparing the roles of leader and managerLeader:A leader is considered as a person that works on specified goals and objectives and isunderstandable enough to manage all the employees as well as operations of the company.Although a leader is classified as quite dominant but this quality of a leader is essential enoughfor having a control over situations (Schoemaker, Krupp and Howland, 2013).Manager:A manager is considered as that authority who is known to have control over a specificgroup or team. The employees working under a manager have to report to the manager regardingthe details of some operation or service ongoing. The comparison between both is discussed as under:Focus:Manager: goals; Leader: visionA comparison can be done between a leader and a manager on the basis of their targets. Itis being said that the leader works along with keeping a focus and vision whereas in case of amanager, it focuses on completing the goals, no matter how many strategies have to eb involved. Leaders: unique; Managers: copyThe difference between a leader and a manager is that a leader has the capability ofthinking unique about new and different ways which they can involve so that they can attainbetter and efficient changes but managers have a habit of copying (Alejandro and et.al., 2011) Itmeans that they always follow the same path that other managers are doing. They cannot think

out of the path because they want to attain goals only, it does not matter for them to think, planand stargaze.Leaders: make relationship and interactions; Managers: don'tAnother very common divergence between a leader and a manager is that a leader alwaysknows how to maintain work along with the relationships but managers do not care. They onlywant to do the business. After that they do not think of making any interactions and relationshipswith other employees. But a leader always manages work with interactions because he knowsthat interaction is very important at workplace because if employees will stay happy, then theycan focus better on the work and it will further assist the organisation in accomplishing all themarks and aims. TASK 2P.2. Function of a manager and leader in various situationsIn an organisation, as there are many good and happier situations, but at the same timethere are some complicated situations as well. The leader and manager should be efficientenough that they can manage whatever the situation is. Different types of situations are as under:Conflict situationsThere come various times in Mark and Spencer when they had to face some conflictingsituations. In these types of situations, the role of a leader is to investigate some ways by which itcan get controlled (Puccio, Mance and Murdock, 2010). On the other side, the target of amanager is only about achieving the objectives of the company, whether for that variousstrategies have to be involved etc. It is quite different because a leader tries to manage therelationships with other employees as well whereas a manager actually does not care of makingrelationships, instead they keep their focus on achieving targets. Employee turnoverAny company can face employee turnover and it is quite common for some time. Theremay be various factors that are responsible for it such as the company not providing efficientincrements and incentives to the employees. So, Marks and Spencer should focus oninvestigating ways by which they can provide some sort of motivation to the employees such asincrements, incentives, extra leaves etc. Some sort of increments and incentives can help inproviding motivation and confidence to the employees by which they can stay focused towardsthe work and help the company in achieving the targets and goals (Solansky, 2010).
