Health industry is rising in the market which provides with health and care services and
products to the customers. In today's era, health care organizations are facing the competition in
the market which have a high impact on the performance of the companies. Thus, it also have
negative influence on the people who are availing the services of the health care organization.
However, the corporation needs to ensure the safety and high-quality environment of the health
care home so as to enhance services provided to the patients (Arya, 2011). In the present report,
the scenario of Silver Line is studied thoroughly. It is operating in the activities mainly for the
elderly individuals. This is a charity organization which provides free help to the old people by
giving them detailed and efficient information which can assist the individuals to improve their
well-being. Further, the present report will focus on assessing the corporate governance,
mission , vision of the organization. In addition to this, the environmental analysis is done by
using the PESTLE analysis to evaluate the measures which assist in expanding their services.
Furthermore, the recommendations has been also provided to the organization for managing their
expansion of services in the healthcare sector.

In the charity organization, the corporate governance determines the different procedures
and systems which assist in managing the activities of the company. Moreover, it also make sure
its effectiveness and accountability of the cited organization. By analysing the data it has been
noted that Silver Line is governed by the boards of legal guardian which highly focus on
evaluating the direction of the corporation. Further, it also makes small groups which is guided
by the Chief Executive which manages the daily activities in the company (Chemaly and et.al.,
2014). The major stakeholders involved with the charity organization includes government, local
authorities, social and care service providers and different communities. Further, to become an
effective charity organization it needs to comply on regular modifications in the administration
mainly focusing on the risk management and handling the complaints to develop ethical
environment at the workplace. Further, the corporate governance also help the Silver Line to
avoid the unnecessary scandals or fraud activities at the workplace.

Silver Line charity company is founded by Dame Esther Rantzen. It was formed because
the founder was experiencing the loneliness from a longer time and to eradicate that she decided
to open charity organization for the elderly people (Frith, 2012). The main motive behind it was
to provide helpline services for the old people and give them effective guidance for their health-
care. They also provide the friendly services which breaks the loneliness of the people and
become happy. Further, they provide with the information which can empower the vulnerable
people to tackle the situation related to abusive and neglecting ones.
The main vision of the charitable organization is to become one of the leading and
popular charitable institution which can help the wide range of older people with their health
care problems. Further, the mission of Silver Line is to ensure the security of old people by
giving them advice so with the help of which they can overcome with their issues or situation of
isolation, loneliness and feeling of depression (Gibbs, 2011). They also wants to support and give
advice to old people which can help to improve their quality of life. Further, it is important to
take several measures for the stakeholders as they directly or indirectly have a great influence on
the activities and policies of Silver Line. They mainly focuses on the betterment of the
stakeholders which mainly includes employees, government, local community, trustee etc. which
highly impact the services of the organization. The main stakeholder of the company is Big
Lottery Fund which is a non-departmental public body which helps to have the adequate funds
for organization for dealing with providing services to the people. Moreover, they also support
the needy individuals in the society so as to fulfil their requirements (Kleinman, 2013). Another
important stakeholder of the charity organization are the older people living in the people as they
are the one to whom Silver Line renders the guidance services in order to avoid the isolation and
loneliness.

It becomes important for Silver Line to focus on its organizational structure as it is been
considered as the most crucial factor to determine the inward as well as outward
communicational channel. Further, it also assist the organization to perform their activities in an
efficient manner within the industry (Kramer, Kinn and Mishkind, 2015). Silver Line gives the
facility of free and confidential telephone line within UK, which helps the old people to get the
assistance easily and in an effective manner. As the organization is a charitable one there main
focus is on the functional structure as they are dealing with providing the services to the people

which can only be achieved only if there is proper functioning of the company. It will also help
in attaining the mission and vision of the company. Further, it assists the firm to determine the
roles and responsibilities of every individual working in the organization. This will make clear
for the employee as to what he has do perform and in which manner (Lemmer, 2010).
In the organization structure of Silver Line there are mainly two bodies working to
achieve the targets of the company. This includes team members and board of directors. The
organizational structure of the company mainly includes the trustees as well as the team
members. Further, the major responsibility of the board of directors is to formulate the goals and
targets for the firm (Martin and Sutton, eds., 2015). Moreover, they are also obliged to formulate
the strategies and activities of the organization so that the task can be easily done with high
standards and can make the best help to the elder people. On the other hand, the team members
of the company includes directors of operations, finance, human resources, customers dealers
etc. which are the main individuals to perform task of the company and achieve the goals and
objectives in an efficient manner. Along with this, financial committee must also make sure that
all the financial aspects for the charity are overlooked properly so that they can raise fund for the
organization that can support the organization in the long by improving the services provided for
the health of older people. The main function of the HR department is to appoint the efficient
employees which can assist the company to grow and develop in the industry. They will also help
to manage the human resources activities which include paying the incentives, salary, bonus,
motivating them etc. Further it is important to have an efficient HR department as they can lead
the people to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization (McCormack, Manley and
Titchen, eds., 2013).

In the Silver Line, the main function of the organization is in customers service
department. There work is to render the services for supporting the old people in giving the
advice or suggestion which can help them to take care of their health. Further, there are few
members which work as a team and give the best services to the old age and vulnerable people of
the community. They also make sure that they overcome the feeling of loneliness, isolation etc.
by providing friendly environment and caring so that they can become happy and come up with
healthy body. Moreover, the daily operations and activities are also done by them which helps in
assisting the old people to provide with the guidance which is highly confidential to them
(Mitchell and et.al., 2013).Therefore, it has been also evaluated that functional mainly bifurcate
the activities of Silver Line into different functions and areas that support them in easily
accomplishing their goals and objectives. Furthermore, it has been measured that with the
functional structure charitable trust can easily perform their operational activities. On the other
hand, it has also evaluated that with the functional organizational structure it results in enhancing
the functioning of different activities within the organization so that they can easily deliver
quality services.

factors assist in managing the activities of the health care in an effective manner (Oswald,
2012). From the study, it has been found that the health care sector is growing at a rapid speed in
UK. They are becoming more efficient in providing with the health services and treatment to the
people. Moreover, there is proper medication facility provided to the patients which help to
recover early from their cause (Phunchongharn and et.al., 2010). According to the scenario, The
Silver Line has been granted by the Big Lottery Fund of around £5 million to enhance their
services by also providing home care support to the elderly patients. Therefore, to analyse the
viability of expansion in the services results in conducting the PESTLE analysis. It basically
include following factors- Political factor: The major element of the external environment is to analyse the political
factor which mainly includes the taxation policies, government grants, political stability
etc. which highly affects the viability of Silver Line. If the political environment in UK is
not stable than in the long run it may affect the operations of charitable organization. It
also becomes a problem as unstable political party may shift and highly affects the
financial funding the future (Ray and Berger, 2010). The other element in this is taxation
policy, it highly impacts the services rendered by the organization. If the policies supports
the activities than it helps the organization to expanding the services and treatment given

assist Silver Line to expand their services. Along with this economic factor also include
change in the government interest rate will also impact the activities and services of home

patients. Further, with the adoption of latest technological aids and equipments, they can
attain the competitive edge in the market as the people are attracted towards the services
which may satisfy them to the best. Legal factor- The factors involved in this is latest legislations and regulations which may
help the company to expand their activities. The UK has determined the policies which

recommendations given for managing the expansion of services in the company: Major focus on the core competencies- Silver Line organization needs to focus on the
core competencies of the charitable institutions so as to ensure that the company is not
leading in the wrong direction. Thus, by analysing these competencies, it can assist in
enhancing the telephonic helpline services which leads to the developed care requirement
for the old aged people (McCormack, Manley and Titchen, eds., 2013). Legal and financial feasibility- It is the core factor which must be considered by Silver
Line as it is important to predict or budget the legal and financial requirement to manage
the new home care support in an efficient manner. Moreover, with the assistance if legal
aspect the company needs to manage every type of unethical activities at the workplace
so that they do not have negative impact on the activities of the company. Further,
prediction made for the requirement of the financial facets will assist in managing the
expansion made in the services as they get the idea about the funds which needs to be

2010). Moreover, with the help of proper financial budgeting they can easily manage and
organize the financial requirement so that they can easily manage costing that is required
for expanding their services within the healthcare industry. Aligning the resources with expansion objectives- Silver Line needs to align their
existing resources to the objectives of the expansion needs so as to support the charitable
organization in managing their activities in an efficient manner. It is highly recommended
that the efficient use of resources may benefit the company to achieve the growth in the
industry (Lemmer, 2010). Further, to expand the services all over London, it is necessary
to align the human as well as financial resources in an efficient manner as these are the
core elements which can help the company to grow their activities in larger areas. Thus,
with the assistance of aligning the resources, the organization can allocate the financial
needs which are required to accomplish the goal of Silver Line.
 Addressing the requirement of elderly individual- The another recommendation for
efficiently managing the expansion of services is to analyse the needs and requirements
of the old people as to what they need in the home care so that the company can satisfy
its customers in an efficient manner (Ray and Berger, 2010). Further, they may assist in
assuring the demands for the services which they need to avail. Further, to grow their
business it is very important to maintain healthy relationships with the old people as they
are the ultimate user of the services rendered by the organization.

that business wants to expand its operations and due to this reason it is necessary to analyse the
factors present externally that can influence business operations and on the basis of same
strategies have to be framed. Further, overall analysis has shown that with age population present
in UK it is must for company to expand its range of services which can allow in accomplishing
mission, vision and major goals. Moreover, the internal structure of silver company has
highlighted the key departments within the business along with the roles and responsibilities
assigned to staff members. Apart from this, different suggestions have been provided to business
