LO1: Understand the growth and development of the heritage and cultural industry within travel
and tourism
1.1 Analyze the growth and development of the heritage and cultural industry
The historical monuments and cultural places of the country are called the heritage. The
monuments from the past and the cultural sites which are preserved are also called the heritage.
The history of the place, the interaction, people and the places. U.K. is a country which is full of
history and heritage for that reason the cultural and the heritage tourism is most famous in that
country. The heritage industry in U.K. is the most important industry. The heritage and the
cultural tourism industry gives the huge boost or the support to the economy of the U.K. During
the time of 19th, and the 20th century the government took the industry seriously and started to
give funds and renovate the libraries and the museums. The council for the encouragement of
music and arts is the first national body of administration was formed to maintain the cultural
and the heritage industry of the U.K. this organization started funding to the heritage places of
the U.K. to reinstall and renovate those places for the tourist from which they can earn money
from the tourism business, and it will boost the economy of the country. After this, the
department of the education took the responsibility of the British libraries, museum, and the
galleries it was in the year of 1965. The regional art spread themselves across the U.K. in 1970,
and in 1990 the national art and the media strategy took they responsibility of this industry for
spreading the business
In today's world, U.K. has developed their heritage and the cultural industries and that also
giving a huge support to the economy of the U.K. The heritage and the cultural tourism offers
huge employment to the citizen of the country. This is helping the country to recycle their
