Impact of different types of ownership on management
of heritage and cultural sites
Now a days, tourism sector is more profitable industry in
comparison to other as everyone shows interest for
travelling. Generally, heritage sites are controlled or
maintained by the government or non-profit
organisations. These locations include some valuable
assets and things that need proper care so that it can be
maintained for a long period of time and attract
maximum travellers. If concerned authority will provide
proper attention to it then it will offer equal value or
knowledge to the visitors. There are various factors
which influence these sites such as governmental rules
and regulations, polices for preservation, etc. Impact of
various types of ownership on heritage and cultural
places can be understood in the following manner which
are given as below-
Political- Generally, government takes care of historical
things and preserve the same in an effective and efficient
manner so that it can attract more tourists and earn high
revenues. Public control provides large access to people
with low cost so that individuals can learn various things
at reasonable price.

In United Kingdom, there are many types of agencies
working for preserving historical monuments and
cultures so that it can attract a large number of
travellers. There is a firm named Historic Building
and Monument Commission which is a non-
governmental company and working for maintaining,
developing and protecting these sites. There are many
other firms which are working together so that they
can produce the best result such as department of
media, culture and sport and Woodland trust which
are the most popular agencies and providing their
services in an effective and efficient manner.
Department of media, culture and sport is a
governmental body which controls the activities of
firms which are currently working in this field. They
are working for the development of people who are
living in United Kingdom. Its main objective is to
promote and protect the heritage sites so that more
travellers visit here which will help in the growth of
country. More than 43 agencies and public entities
provides support to this department so that it can carry
out their work in an effective and efficient manner. Its
main officer is Karen Bradley who has responsibility
to control the activities of this department. He is a
member of parliament and secretary of state for
culture, media and sport.
