INTRODUCTION Human resource management introduces as an effective process of recruiting, selecting,deploying and managing an enterprise's employees. HRM refers as an effective managementfunctions that supports business managers to hire, select, train as well as develop memberswithin an organisation (Noe and et. al., 2017). For this project, chosen organisation is KingfisherPlc which is a British multinational retailing company in London, England, United Kingdom.This report is based on different tasks which includes purpose as well as functions of humanresource management, benefits and drawbacks of recruitment and selection methods. Along withthis various kind of HRM practices and its advantages to employees as well as organisation willalso covered in this project. At last, significance of employee relation and components ofemployment legislation will also included in this assignment. Overview of the organisation: Kingfisher Plc is a British multinational retailer whichheadquarter in London, England, UK. It was founded in 1982 by Andy Cosslett, VeroniqueLaury. Company mainly specialise in selling and marketing of home improvement products suchas home furnishings, home appliances etc. Main purpose of this organisation is to gain maximumamount of profitability by providing quality products to the customers at affordable price. TASK1P1HRM refers as the planning, organizing, leading and monitoring of the compensation,integration, procurement, separation as well as maintenance of human resources within anorganisation (Bratton and Gold, 2017). There are different functions and purpose of humanresource management which is relevant to workforce planning and resourcing of an enterprise isalso. Some are determined as under: Purpose of HRM: There are different purpose of HRM within a Kingfisher Plc. These purposemainly related with staffing, internal customer management, compensation and management,laws, employee relation, cultural sensitivity, metrics etc. All these are main purpose which willhelp an enterprise to retain workers for long time and maximise customer base within a giventime period (Brewster, 2017). Some purpose will defined as detail manner: Employee relation: It is foremost purpose of human resource management as to managestrong relation with employees. It will help a Kingfisher Plc to accomplish long term

goals and objectives. Strong employee relation also help an enterprise by maintaining itsgood brand image in marketplace. Staffing: It introduces as main role and responsibility of human resource management isto hire and retain best employees within an enterprise (Albrecht and et. al., 2015).Talented workers help a Kingfisher Plc by increasing its sales ratio. Laws: It introduces as a main intent of Human resource management which includesdifferent laws related with plans of recruitment,advantages as well as conflict resolutionwhich is fall within the human resource manager's domain. Functions of HRM: There are mainly three types of human resource management functionswhich is operative functions, managerial functions and advisory functions. All these type offunctions also have different functions which are determined as under: Operative functions Compensation and benefits: This introduces as a main and important function of HRMwhich is followed by manager of Kingfisher plc. For example: If company canaccomplish its objectives and goals, they can acclimatize innovative ways of givingadvantages to the employees (Cascio, 2015). There are different benefits which areprovided by an organisation to their workforce such as working hour flexibility, dental ormedical insurance, extended vacation etc. Managerial FunctionsPlanning: This function of HRM is very vital and important to set goals and objectives ofa Kingfisher Plc. In this, procedures and policies of an enterprise is laid down to attainthese goals within given time duration. It is a role of human resource manager of anorganisation is to foresee vacancies, set requirements of job and decide the recruitmentsources. Thus, planning is most essential functions for growth and success of anorganisation. Advisory FunctionsTop management Advice: Human resource manager is a specialist in HRM functions. Inthis function, each employees can advice the upper level administration in formulatingprocedures and policies. They can also suggested the upper administration for theappraisal of manpower which they feel apt.
