INTRODUCTIONHuman Resource Management term can be stated as process of acquisition, planning,directing, motivating, organizing, training etc. of human resource in order to make them valuableassets in the firm. The main objective of HRM is to motivate staff members to work effectivelyand efficiently to attain set targets. This report is based on Arcadia Group whose CEO is PhilipGreen. Company is situated in UK and deals in big clothing brand like, Topman, DorothyPerkins, Wallis etc. This project covers purpose and function of HRM in a company. It alsothrow-light on strengths and weaknesses various approaches to recruitment and selection.Moreover, benefits of HRM practices in raising profits and building employees relations arestudied. Moreover, employment legislation acts are studied so that workers exploitation can notbe done in the working premises (Bailey and Garavan, 2018). Additionally, good relations withemployees affect human resource management decision making process in positive manner. P1) Discuss the purpose and function of human resource managementHuman resource management is the activity of hiring and developing workers to turnthem into precious assets of the organization in the market place. The distinguished function ofthe HRM is explained as follows: Recruitment: In an organization this one of the most essential function of humanresource management in the competitive world. The desired objectives can be achieved in abusiness associates when right and skilful participant is selected for the vacant post. ArcadiaGroup hires candidates for the post both from internal and external source so that qualified andcapable nominee for the vacancy can be appointed. By doing so market value of the firm raisesin the competitive world. Recruitment should be done without any discrimination and rightcandidate should be appointed for the post. Compensation: Arcadia Group which deals in top brand of clothes like, Wallis,Topman, Evans, Miss selfridge etc. and provide compensation to workers for their effectivework. Enterprise provides monetary (cheques, cash amount etc.) and non-monetary (gifts, familyholiday, foreign trips etc.) value so that employees can be encouraged to work effectively to settough standards for competitors in the cut throat competitive world.
