Task 2 ( 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 2.1)
Probationary meeting with a training and development plan.
In the firm, the role of HR doesn't ends with the recruitment and selection procedures.
The role of HR further includes the monitoring the work progress and work-performance of the
new recruiters. Now, being HR officer in Churchill Residential Home Care there are various
quality and services which needs to be monitored by me. Performance management can be
described as the evaluation process by which workers achievement is assess in their working
procedures (Armstrong and Taylor, 2014 ). Through this process, I can easily manage employee
to achieve quality health care. There are various ways through which I can monitor the individual
performance like 360-degree feedback, key performance indicator, 360 degree appraisals and
skill-set. All this performance appraisals are popular and mostly used in corporate workplace.
360-degree feedback is implemented in health and social care as it provides the performance
evaluation through the customers service. It's also known as multi source assessment. Key
performance measures are used to identify the leading and lagging performance of the
employees. Key performance indicator is also used for the appraisals process. Performance
measurement like meeting goals, teamwork, job skills, interpersonal communication skills,
decision making and health working habits are included. 360-degree appraisals methods is used
to identify the work progress and areas where training and development are required. Last
method which is used by me for performance evaluation is skill set which includes empathy,
ethics, flexibility, self confidence and time management which are very necessary in the health
and social care. In order to maintain all the work-performance of the new recruits, performance
chart was maintained by me and my fellow members.
For illustration, according to the 360-degree feedback, the performance are evaluated on
the basis of numbers which are marked as 1st for 'weak', 2nd for 'better', 3rd for 'satisfactory', 4th
for good and 5th for 'outstanding' . One of the new employee scored 4th position in the assessment
which was good for him. Another rating which included that training should be provided to the
new employee that too had the ranking structure. Starting from 1-5 and 1 for not important and 5
for essential. Another candidate got 3 which means either of the option or training can be
provided or not. Such evaluation process are evaluated by me and those who are getting low in
any performance needs training and development. Similarly other performance measures are
12
Document Page
being evaluated. Moreover, the candidates which are getting good performance reports, at the
end of the month they are rewarded. The work performance of the new applicants are necessary
as they represent the organisation to the customer's and in the market (Fechter, Oelberger and
McWha-Hermann, 2017).
As mentioned above, the performance appraisals are used for the measurement of the
individual's performance. Moreover, this tools are also required to identify the areas where the
new recruits lags and which can be developed through the training and development programs.
Training and development programs are used to enhance the ability and work performance of an
individual. For identifying such weakness, eye on their performance is to be kept and data sheet
is to be maintained where all the activities and feedbacks are marked. Moreover, team
performance is also evaluated through the continued professional development (CPD). This is
used to measure the work efficiency and work performance in the groups. If the training and
development programs provided to them are positive them the results can be seen in the services
provided by them to the patients and other people. Furthermore, training and development
programs are provided in order to enhance their knowledge regarding the work and company.
They are also required to update knowledge as well as to enhance the skills so that they can
perform well in their respective position effectively and efficiently. It's considered as the
necessary part of the company. Training and development program provided to the individual
will affect the new applicants retention and improvement in their performance. This factors are
very necessary in this industry. Due to this issue the organization has chosen those employees
which have better skills, experts in their respective field and person those are having
competencies. Due to this issues the performance chart are maintained regularly at certain period
of time. For the new applicants this reduces their weakness and enhance their ability in order to
perform better in the working environment ( Fan and et.al., 2016).
Training and development programs provided by me are based on the performance
analysis, reliable research and by identification of the skills required by the new applicants in
future at the operational work environment in the firm. Training and development in the
company are provided by the expertise who are serving the company from many years. Their
experience and practical knowledge help the new applicants to understand the situations more
clearly. It also provides them to understand their professional career in health and social care.
Moreover, such things also support the employee to achieve more and to progress within the
13
Document Page
sector. This increases the potential level, flexibility and ability to perform in the work-
environment. They can be further specialized in the particular segment and can continue to
pursue generic route. Training and development is also required at the regular basis as it involves
the enhancing the knowledge of the employees regarding the new policies and regulation which
are implemented by the government in the country. The more clearly the applicants understand
and gain from their training and development programs more they progress in their respective
fields.
CPD is considered as the important part by which new applicants knowledge, skills and
competencies are increased and developed. This is considered as the important aspect in the
industry. Moreover, it helps to develop professional qualities which can be applied and
implemented at the time of practicals or during the service. Social care workers in the company
needs to demonstrate the CPD as they are considered as very important aspects. It also improves
the portfolio which can be used as the growth agent in the company. There are various strategies
made in order to develop the staff members such as
The employee and the organization relationship which is given the most priority.
Creditability can be seen in the employees if they see trust in the company. More the trust
more will be the improved performance of the individual employees.
The development programs also done to identify various ability of the employee and to
encourage them to perform more better with their full potential.
Need of the team work. Strategies are made so that proper work-environment can be
made. Team work help the individual employee to reduce the work load and time in
doing the particular task.
Planning and strategies are required to manage the task in effective and efficient ways
which could help the individual to perform in better ways. Timely allocating the work
reduces the waste of time (Shields and et.al., 2015).
Such training and development programs are needed in order to develop their strength
and improve in their weakness. Moreover, strategies are made so that new applicants can
easily adopt the interpersonal skills which are very necessary in the health and social
care.
Moreover, strategies are made so that employees can be trained with the new rules,
regulation and policies which are required during the time of service. Along with this

they are also provided the knowledge related to the new techniques and technology which
are upcoming and required during the operation in the industry.
At last, strategies are made in order to collect the feedback and provide further
development programs to those who received poor feedbacks.
Such strategies help to grow the ability, performance, strengths, knowledge and skills of
the individual. They also helps the individual to perform in team work and role of team work in
health and social care.
Some of the theories which help the individual to perform better in the team work in
health and social care are Tuck-man's model which includes the five stages for the development
of the complete group. This stages are described as follows:
Forming: the initial stage which define and develop the structure group process. This
further involves the interaction of the employees with each other and their thoughts are
put together.
Storming: This is the next stage where individual to start to know other members in the
society and trust is developed between them. Mutual understanding and steadily the
process is completed (Mayo, 2016).
Norming: Here group finds the group beliefs, norms and follows the ethics and values.
Here members try to understand their work and the individual aim in the group.
Performing: At this stage individual consult with the other members in group.
Adoring: Here complete team gets together and completes their individual tasks.
In the firm, health and social care there is great requirement of the group work, mutual
understanding and interaction. Through this the company can easily achieve company goals and
patients or other people can get operated easily. The team in the company have better work
performance and have particular goals. They can easily perform the complex and especial tasks
easily with better care, effectively and efficiently.
Another theory which describes the Team work is the Belbin team roles which describes
the behaviour which can be recognize in the individual. This involves the implementer which
should be disciplinary, in order and task oriented. They must develop the plans and ideas into
simple tasks. The seconds comes the resource investigator whose role is to build lots of contacts
and should have lots of new ideas. They are used to develop and manage the contacts. Then
comes plant which are used as the innovative and original thinkers. Next is monitor which is
15
Document Page
used for the monitoring, they must be critical, sensible and thoughtful in nature. Next to it is
shaper which is face the main challenges and to make continuous process. They are driven,
passionate and wilful. Coordinator which coordinates the team members. They build trust.
Completer Finisher are used in team to identify the things which can get in problems they are
required to solve those issues. Team-worker are considered to be the most sensitive members at
the workplace. They are used to balance the work and bring harmony to the work. At last is the
specialist which completely checks the work. If there are any issues they sort out them and
provide knowledge to improve them.
In the given company, mentioned are the roles performed in the groups in the health and
social care. Team works helps them to complete their task easily and with in time limit.
Team of doctors and nurses: Doctors and nurses have to perform the tasks in group.
Doctors provides the instruction to the nurses and during the operation doctors consult
with each other in order to treat and diagnose the patients.
Management team: they are required to manage all activities which are related to
company (Progoulaki and Theotokas, 2016).
Caterers: In hospitals they are required to provide the food to patients and their relatives.
Representative and campaigning team: this are required for making awareness and to
support the other department in the hospital.
The tasks performed by the above teams are in disciplinary, formal and effective ways.

TASK 4 ( 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 )
In order to complete the above task successfully for the organisation there are certain
leadership theories are adopted by me in order to deliver the right training and development
programs and effective ways through which I can ensure that correct candidates are chosen for
the job. Being a leader needs the support from the team in order to complete the tasks.
Leadership theories are followed by directing the team and guiding them to perform their tasks.
I need to motivate my team members at every point where necessary (Gupta and Bhaskar, 2016).
Though the approach made by me was tough but those who are selected will do better in their
respective field. The leadership theories adopted by me are transformational Leadership theory
and transactional leadership theory. In the transformational leadership theory the interaction
between the person develops the trust, provides the motivation in extrinsic and intrinsic ways.
Through this I provided the inspirational nature and charismatic personalities. Through this I
created better work environment which can help the new applicants to develop with their full
potential. They can gain more knowledge and can fit under the company. The other theory used
by me transactional leadership theory which is defined as the transaction done between the leader
and follower. It's also known as the exchange theories of leadership. The theory provides the
positive approach towards the employee and is beneficial to both. Here rewards and development
programs are provided by me to new applicants who have performed better or needs the training.
Through the second theory I was able to completely implement my knowledge to the
employees. During the time of leadership following style were adopted by me which are
mentioned below:
Autocratic Style: Style is used by me to make the forced decision which are necessary
during the time of new recruitments.
Democratic Style: This style was adopted by me during the time of decision making and
for the invitation. For the development and making the new members familiarize this
methods was used.
Laissez-faire style: Following method is considered as the democratic leadership style.
This style was used by me so that some new and effective methods can be carried by me.
All the theories and style helped in developing and recruiting the right person in the
company. Moreover, they supported me to implement my knowledge and guidance on the new
applicants.
18
Document Page
In the cited organisation the roles and responsibilities are very difficult to identify as
health and social care needs complete care of individual at home. In order to perform the task
effectively and efficiently all the team members needs to perform their task according to their
needs. In order to develop and manage the better working relationship by the selected staff
proper coordination and team work was required by all the team members. Without the team, the
work can't be completed by me. There needs to be inter-relation between me and my teammates
to complete all the task considering all the rules and regulation of the firm. Following was the
approach made by me to make better relationship.
I used to generic and friendly in nature during the time of work, there were very little
cases when I need to follow the autocratic rule in the organisation (Clardy, 2014). Every
department was supportive and I try to help my colleagues in every possible ways. Motivation
and team understanding was better in me which helped in making the relationship with the
employees. Moreover, I followed all the rules and regulation of the company and requested for
the feedback which can help me to improve my qualities. At last listening and communicating
with the fellow members supported me in gaining their confidence. Leadership and management
both styles are similar in nature are used to manage the team members. Leadership is required by
me when I have to innovate new things through my team members and management is required
for allocating the task and monitoring the performance.
Leadership management style was used by me in the workplace when I get stress in the
work. At that point I request my fellow members to support me (Suhail and Azhar, 2016). They
provided me solution or support in every possible ways. Moreover, they provided me guidance
so that next time I am not indulge in such situations. Even leadership qualities are adopted by me
when I need to think about the new innovation which must be implemented in the company.
Support from the team helped me to reduce the stress level and manage the team effectively. The
style helped me in improving and maintaining my professional and personal life effectively.
