Objectives:
 To analyse the impact of technology on globalisation.
 To investigate the significance of technology in globalisation.
 To examine the challenges involved in promoting global business through technology.
 To suggest the ways by which organisation can implement technology for promoting
business globally.
1.3 Intervention
For this research primary data collection method is used which will increase the
authenticity of the research and will provide a researcher an in depth knowledge about the
researcher. It will also increase the quality of the researcher and can be used as source of
decision making.
1.4 Principal Outcome
The outcome of this research can be used in various academic fields and can also be used
as secondary research by various researchers. The out come of this research can also be used by
various organisations in improving their global business.
1.5 Summary
This research will focus on how organisation make use of technology in order to promote
their business across the world. It will also discuss about the impact of technology on the
globalisation and what is the significance of technology for promoting business at global level.
This report will also discuss about the challenges that are involved in promoting global business

2.1 Reasons for choosing the project
This research project has been chosen because of a personal interest of a researcher as in
last few decades there has been a growth in business globalisation in which technology has
played a huge role. This research study will help in gaining the knowledge and skills which a
researcher wants to improve as globalisation and technology is a huge concept and this topic can
help in gaining a huge knowledge and one can develop skills. This research project is important
because there has been an advancement in technology and many businesses across the world are
using technology for promoting their business globally so this research project can provide a
huge information about promotion of technology through globalisation.
2.2 Personal interest
Researcher has developed a personal interest in this topic as there is huge growth in the
process of globalisation and also wants to know how technology has is been used to form the
promotion of global business.

3.1 Introduction
Globalisation has got many definitions and is a broad term but in simple terms
globalisation can be defined as world being interconnected through trade and cultural exchange.
The process of globalisation has increased process of production of goods and services. Now
even small companies are no longer a national firm but have become a multi-national companies
(Stearns, 2016). There may be many reasons behind it but one of the major reason behind the
growth of global business is advancement in technologies. Globalisation has taken place over
hundred of years but with the advancement in the technology it has boosted the process of
globalisation and businesses across the world. Globalisation is the ongoing process of linking
people, cities, countries and companies together which has result in the growth of business this
has become possible only with the advancement in technologies. The technologies in production,
operations, logistics, marketing, etc has played an important role in expansion of global business.
Technology is considered as a vital force within the modern business world and it has
revolutionised the economy at the global level and has also become an important competitive
strategy of global business.

Technology has helped businesses across the world to overcome the hurdles of
globalisation as well as international trade like transportation cost, lack of information, ethical
standards, etc which has made exchange in the international markets easier (Smith, 2018).
Technology is the driving factor for the process of expanding global business, as businesses
around the world has been able to make effective use of technology in their business processes
which helped them in the growth of business. With the help of information technology and
digital technologies companies have become able to expand their networks across the world
which helped making business operation much easier and faster. Technology is still advancing
which is brings more and more opportunities for the business across the world to expand and
growth.
3.2: Impact of technology on globalisation
As per the views of Arogyaswamy and Hunter, (2018) advancement in technology has
facilitated the growth of globalisation. It is also considered that technology has been the main
force driving the globalisation. Technology has reduced the costs of communication and
transportation across the nations of world and this has resulted in easy availability and supply of
raw materials and other inputs. With the rise in technology and innovations it has opened the
pathways for the businesses in reaching the customers across the world. With the help of a
technology, trade flows have become faster as large quantities of goods can be transported to
many countries in a short period of time. Technological advancement has also made flow of
capital at a faster rate as exchange of money can be made with a click of a button. As per the
views of Haile, Srour and Vivarelli, (2017) technology has also negative impacted the
globalisation as technology have resulted in the loss of jobs for low skilled labours who have lost
their jobs due to introduction of new technologies at a global level and it has also resulted a huge
competition and lack of job security for workers.
As illustrated by Ingleby, (2015) technological change has major effects on the rise of
global economy which has been due to immense change or transformation the way the
organisations organise their production, trade of goods and services, investment in capital and
development in products and technologies. Rapid change in technology and innovations in
technology has resulted in the advancement in the goods and services which are offered by the
organisations across the world. This has resulted in expansion of business in different countries
with the rise in demand from the customers. There are many technological advancements which

has resulted in globalisation like modes of transportation has become faster and easier due to
advancement in technology. Faster transportation has made transportation of goods to different
corners of world easier and faster and it has also led to movement of people much easier. With
the rise of digital technologies there has been rise in awareness of products and services across
the world and this has resulted in rise in demand of goods and service among the customers
across the world. Also, technology is the key driver for rise of income and standard of living, but
with the increase in knowledge and technologies does not develop everywhere at the same time.
Thus, it can be said that the way technology spreads in various parts of the world is central to
how growth is shared and generated across various countries globally. But also technological
impact on globalisation has also been negatively criticised for its possible negative side effects.
As per the views of Young, Hood and Hamill, (2017) Technology has spread across the boarders
in two ways one technological developments has allowed gaining access to foreign knowledge
easily and second is that it has enhanced competition at the global level which has resulted in rise
of emerging market firms. This has strengthened companies incentives for innovating and
adopting the foreign technologies.
3.3: Significance of technology in globalisation
It has been illustrated by Das, (2016) technology has a huge significance in globalisation as
technology has made exchange of goods and service easier and cheaper which has lead to the
growth of globalisation. In recent years technology has been used in every sector of business
form supplying the raw materials to the payment methods, and with the help of a technology this
has limited or narrowed the distances between the nations and various business sectors.
Technology has not connected the similar companies of same industry but have connected
different companies of different industries thus, technology has brought the countries at a
common platform. Digital technology has paved a way towards the global networks by which the
information and knowledge is easily flowing from one corner of world to another corner of
world. Also, technologies e-commerce, IT, etc. has played an important role in the process of
globalisation and it will keep on promoting globalisation in the future.
As per the views of Dodgson, (2018)technology has played significant role in the process
of globalisation, advancement in technology has made exchange of goods and services easier and

safer. With the advancement in technology, it has made many things possible like introduction to
bar codes which has helped in flow of information of the product. Also, technology has also
generated many jobs too which has resulted in migration of people from one country to another
country. Also, it has made the process of payments easier for the companies and for the people, a
person can order a particular product from home with the help of easy payment methods like
online payments. Even person can make use of card for payment in foreign country without
getting confused with foreign currency. So, this has helped in making business and transactions
much easier and also has resulted in the sharing of information, facts and solutions much easier.
Globalisation would not be possible in the absence of technology, it would have slowed the
process of globalisation and would have restricted the expansion of business across the world.
Technology has not played an important role in for globalisation but has acted as a catalyst for
the advancement of globalisation. In recent years there has been a major breakthrough within the
information technology, transportation and communication which has been a major driving force
of globalisation in 21st century. The technological advancement like internet and information
systems has opened the gates of globalisation and global business. Internet facility has granted
people across the world to share information and generate awareness related to new products and
services which are offered by the organisations across the world. This has brought people from
different countries to a common platform which was not possible before. Many businesses across
the world has been using technologies in the past like planes, ships, etc. but the advancement in
innovative navigation systems like GPS (Global Positioning Systems) have increased the
efficiency and has made travel faster and cheaper. This has even fastened the process of
globalisation ever before.
3.4: Challenges in promoting globalisation through technology
As per the views of Emmanuel, (2017) there are various challenges which technology has
brought in promoting globalisation like all Small and medium organisations across the are not
able to make use or adopt the technology in order to grow their business at international level as
some technologies are too expensive to be adopted for them. With the growth in technology and
technological change have effected the patterns of international trade, new production
technologies like material substitution, resource saving innovations and improved process of
technologies have resulted in the decline of raw material intensity of the final products. This has

resulted in slow growth and even decline of international raw materials which has resulted in the
challenges of availability or raw materials for the organisations across the world.
As illustrated by Chaminade and Padilla-Pérez, (2017) with the rapid advancements in
technologies and innovations have forced many companies to make huge amount of investments
in the technology which they have adopted. One of the major problems which are faced is with
the introduction of new technology makes old technology obsolete or outdated, so it is not
possible for every organisation to make technological advancements rapidly. If company fails to
keep up with the technological up gradation it may result in the loss of business and company
may not be able to make expansion of business. With the increase in globalisation, there as been
increase in demand of customers so, it has become challenging task for the organisations to meet
the technological demands of the customers across the world. Also, not all countries are equally
advanced, the level of technological advancements may differ. So, it has restricted the
globalisation as company with certain level of technology could enter only those countries which
are at same or below technological level. For other advanced countries a company could not
survive at all. It has also become a challenging task for the organisation to make complete
market research in the country in which it wants to enter and has to develop type of technology
which could result in growth and expansion of business within that country. It required a huge
amount of investment for a company to stay up dated with the technical standards in order to stay
competitive within the industry. It has become important for the organisations to overcome the
challenges related to technologies in order to remain competitive and for its survival.

Data collection can be defined as process of gathering accurate information from
different sources in order to achieve the aim of the research. It is most important part of research
methodology which can help a researcher to improve the quality of research. There are two types
of data collection methods one is primary and another is secondary data collection method
(Quinlan and et.al., 2019). Secondary data collection method is a method in which researcher
collected the data from the information which is already gathered and can be used by a
researcher for supporting its conclusions. Primary data is a type of a data which is gather by the
researcher by itself for the first time and such data increases the validity of the research. In this

5.2 Mixed methods proposal
Qualitative research is a type of a research which provides the in depth understanding and
inquiry of the research problem and issues related to it (Quinlan, Babin Carr and Griffin, 2019).
Quantitative research is the structured way of collection of data which is followed by analysis of
collected data in order to draw a conclusion. In this study research will use qualitative research
will be used as it will provide a proper insight of the proper insights for the research.
