Individual Reflection on Research
Introduction
This reflective journal is focused on critical reflection of my personal learning process which
was experienced during the unit. To do so, based on (Australis College, 2018), I will combine
several facets of my gained MBA skills while producing a high-quality research project. In
addition, I will include my reflection on how well my team co-operated in the many phases of
the business research project such as writing project report, topic approval, literature review,
and research methodology sections. In this context, for writing this reflective journal I will
integrate the whole journey of week 1 to 12 by summarising the whole learning at one place.
Reflection
Topic Identification
The topic which was selected for the business research project was to define the impacts of
employee training and development in terms of cost and benefit of an organization. Later
then, my group found the company Woolworths appropriate for conducting the research. For
studying the selected topic our group chose the deductive approach which is always effective
in the context of past theories and concepts (Bell et al., 2018). I found the topic identification
phase very useful for identifying the problem definition, research question. During week 3,
the selection of the research topic executed and this was a major milestone of our research
project. I also contributed while writing of the chosen topic approval and into its submission
(Bell et al., 2018).
The literature review
In the context of the literature review, I can now explain the literature review as a systematic
review of the relevant info to the research topic. I also learned that literature review is the
exercise where information is usually obtained through resources like primary, secondary and
tertiary ones. Based on (Johns, 2014), I learned that there could be two approaches used for
conducting the literature review within our business research project include narrative review
and systematic review. In my opinion, the literature review is essential to find the motivation
