1. Background of the case project
In this current era of technology automated system has become one of the most vital
solutions for the business organizations to gain competitive advantages and structured commercial
revenue as well. It is necessary for any business organization to design an automated Information
System for their company to resolve previous security and manual data entry level errors. For this
specific report the chosen case project is “Implementation of Information system in Woolworths
Limited”.
The targeted company is required to convert their traditional data management system into
an automated data system. For the chosen case project a project charter considering a systematic
literature review will be illustrated. In addition to this, a WBS and a schedule plan is also
developed for the case project that has to be designed. Not only this but also a network diagram
for the project is also represented in this report.
2. Project charter for the chosen case project

To design an automated system over manual data management system existing that is already
existing in Woolworths Limited
Project objectives
 To develop a secured automated Information System (IS) for the company
 To gain huge numbers of consumers from Australia and New Zealand through both the

online and offline business operations
 To reduce the overall rate of business level risks
Project budget: The total budget
estimated for the project is $ 54,000
Project duration: The project is expected to be
completed within 6 months
Project scope
After analyzing the existing operational and functional issues of Woolworths Limited an
Information System (IS) is required to be designed. With the help of IS the company will be able
to serve a secured system to their consumers in terms of reduced rate of risks and time efficiency.
In order to retrieve any information and financial consumer details the issues of time
consumptions will be diminished. Through the help of the final project document the goal and
objectives of any specific project will become more prominent to the project manager and other
members associated to the team.
Project assumptions
It has been assumed that the project will be completed within 6 months and according to the
detail design of the Information System (IS), the project needs $54,000 budget for its successful
completion. The consumers will be able to book for their desired food products online and also
can also pay online with secured payment options.
Project Milestone
The project is expected to be completed through following five different phases such as project
initiation, project planning, execution, control and monitoring and closure. The details of the

3. Systematic literature review
Several systematic featuring benefits are associated to Information System. According to
Binder, (2016) from the context of emerging technology and emerging innovation the strategic
enablers will be able to gain competitive advantages and commercial revenue at the same time.
Permana, (2015) stated that, emerging technology has many strategic business level benefits that
diminishes the operational and functional project risks. The organizational decision makers can
also take quick strategic decisions for their companies to demonstrate the profits of executive
skills and commitments as well. The benefit matrix can also be used for demonstrating the profit
of IS strategic planning. This specific matrix indicates the necessity of formalized planning
process. After the implementation of the IS system four to five months are required to gain
formalized benefits from it.
Real world business benefits help the employees to understand the effective functional
approaches available through the information system and the way through which it increases the
business efficiency and effectiveness (Schwalbe, 2015). The Information System has the ability to

make business integration to support the coordination of work that are associated to different parts
of the business organization to measure the way through which the system integration helps the
business organization. In order to examine the business issues different models are applied by the
business owners. It has been found that there are many business level benefits associated to the
implementation of the Information system (Tomanek & Juricek, 2015). The benefits can be
generated from the information System (IS) are as follows:
Give maximum amount of commercial benefits: In order to gain maximum commercial
profit from the company they need to manage their consumers from different geographical
boundaries first with an on-time, quality delivery of food products. As much quality food they
will be able to deliver to their consumers that much numbers of new consumers they will be able
to grab (Machado, Pinheiro & Tamanini, 2015). The capacities of the company will be exploited
drastically with the implementation of a strategic and advanced Information System (IS) in the
organization. The effectiveness of the overall business will increase a lot with the change of a
manual data management system with an automated Information system.
Secure online transaction: The Information System (IS) delivers security also and the
consumers can easily transit money for their products with cash on delivery or online debit card
and credit card payment also.
Improved communication approach: The approach of communication will increase a lot
with the implementation of the information system in the business organizations. Gathering and
distribution of information is a very important part of any organization to make all the employees
familiar about the system process details (Hornstein, 2015). The combination if information
system and information technologies will effectively help to track the information distribution and

information projections as well. IS can deliver quick information to the employees and to the
consumers whenever, required. Globalization is possible by mitigating the cultural gap within the
organization.
Availability: The consumers can avail their desired food products at their doorstep
regardless of their location and time. They can even book for their products anytime. The
business and service delivery approach becomes more convenient.
Cost effectiveness and higher productivity: The rate of business effectiveness increases
a lot along with a higher level productivity (Joslin & Müller, 2015). It means the consumers can
easily ask for their food products and the total price of the product they can also give through
online transaction.

5. Development of the schedule plan
For developing any project it is crucial for any business organizations to consider a
specific project development life cycle methodology. Based on the project details the most
suitable project development life cycle should be adopted by the project managers. Among the
most widely used project development lifecycles agile, spiral, waterfall are mostly used.
The iterative waterfall model cannot proceed further if the previous stage is successfully
completed rather all testing and modification should be done at the same design phase. The
chances of defect multiplication can be completely reduced with this model. As compared to other

models this is much effective from the business perspectives. Thus, among these models the
company should adopt the iterative waterfall model.
The project head and the other stakeholders associated to the project are needed to follow
the project schedule to complete the IS implementation project within estimated cost and time.
Besides this the resources are also allowed to perform their allotted job roles within budget and
time phase also. The details of the time and budget are shown in the below table:
