Executive Summary
The overall report is all about the leadership and management and the significance of
leadership at the organisational level. The report basically consist of management and leadership
of the organisation in order to classify into appropriate manner. The report also consist of the
impact of management and leadership in context to the overall performance. Moreover, the
report will over discussion about the metrics of organisational sector, industry or market and also
about management performance and organisational leadership as well. The major analysis is only
the two parameters of an organisation which is leadership and management.

INTRODUCTION
Leadership basically refers to the ability of group of individuals or an individual gor
influencing and guiding the other members or followers of an organisation. It is basically the ind
of action for leading an organisation or a group of people as well. A leader is someone who
provide clear purpose and clear direction as well. Leadership is that parameter which serves
various functions for the crucial achievement of a company and the most most significant role of
a leader is to give vision to the company. Leadership is very significant at the level of
organisation which support into the context of directing organisational resources for the
achievement and efficiency of goals as well. For the success of an organisation, a leader has to
lead the team or direct the team members into effective manner through providing them a vision
which needs to be achieved within a set period of time(Al-Zubaidy and MS., 2015). For an
effective leader it is very important to give the purpose into accurate manner so that team
member can understand it into appropriate manner. TESCO organisation is taken into
consideration in the present report. TESCO Plc is basically the British groceries at multiational
level which is a retailer as general merchandise that is based in Welwyn Garden City, England.
TESCO is the ninth largest on the world wide basis according to the revenue and largest retailer
on the third position in the overall world which is measured by gross revenues. The report
basically consist of the management and leadership of the organisation in order to classify into
appropriate manner. The report also consist of impact of management and leadership in context
to the overall performance. Moreover, the report will over discussion about the metrics of
organisational sector, industry or market and also about management performance and
organisational leadership as well.

Comparison and analysis of leadership and management
Leadership is basically the motivating art of the group of people for achieving the goals
according to set period of time. It is basically about directing colleagues and workers with a
strategy in order to meet out the organisational requirements. Leadership is the act where they
help themselves in order to do the things into right manner and also about mapping out where the
individual requires to go to win as a team or an organisation.

There are certain skills of leadership which makes the leadership more stronger and
independent as well which includes willingness to learn, perseverance, selflessness, honesty,
decisiveness, trust and integrity(Brewer and et.al., 2019). Management is basically about the
administration of an organisation whether it is non profit organisation or a government body.
From the analysis it has been find out that there are different disimilarities between management
and leadership. Leaders are those who have people to follow them whereas managers are those
people who work for them. Leadership is basically related to have an understanding about
people and to work for the achievement of goals and also belive in the vision. In case of
management it is more related to the administration and also need to ensure that daily basis
things has scheduled according to their set pattern.
Management is basically the consist of controlling the set or group of entities in order to
accomplish the goal whereas leadership refers to the individual ability in order to influence,
motivate and also gives opportunity for contributing into the success of an organisation.
Management is basically the process of planning and organising the resources and activities of
the business for achieving the specific goals into most effective an efficient manner as well.
Efficiency in management basically refers to the completion of tasks into correct manner and
also at minimal costs as well. Management effectiveness is basically related to the tasks
completion within a particular timeline which yields the tangible results as well. Inspiration and
influence are the two parameters who separates the leader from manager not in the teams of
power and control.
There are certain differences into the context of personality styles of leadership and
management as well. Leadership also called as mercurial and brilliant having a great charisma as
well. Leaders are those whose personality are in the form of private people and also comfortable
in terms of taking risks and all the leaders have high level of imagination as well(Burgaz and
Turan., 2015).
Management people are more to be rational in terms of nature and also have under control
problem solvers as well. They mainly focus on structures, goals, personnel and also have the
availability of resources as well. They also have strong will power, persistent in terms of nature
and also have intelligence and analysis level as well. In context to TESCO company, it has been
observed that there is democratic leadership style which has been followed by the organisation
where every member of the organisation give their participation role into the context of decision-

making process. Everybody’s point of views has been considered into appropriate manner and
also gives the opportunity to share their ideas into positive manner.
In context to TESCO company, the management of TESCO orgaisation has adopted
democratic leadership where voice of employees have been heard into positive manner at the
time of decision making process (Cummings and et.al., 2021). The leadership at TESCO
motivates people in order to provide good services to their customers. At the level of orgnisation
of TESCO, the management has appointed roles of leadership to the individual within the
organisation so that everybody has proper idea about the resposibilities and roles into result
oriented manner. The managers of the organisation of every store contribute into the context of
carrying out daily and weekly activities in order to resolve the issues into positive manner and
also perform routine at operational level that includes bettter availabilities, process of delivering
standard of great stores and best services to customers.
The style of TESCO management is democratic so their operating style is also
decentralised and information has been conveyed from management at higher level to employees
at lower level. At the organisational level, everybody has the right to share their ideas and initiate
them into positive manner for result oriented growth of an organisation. For improving the
process of TESCO company management, the style of leadership of TESCO also operates the
management of customer where they listen the voice of their customers into context of having
better services in an organisation. It is the company who has tried to keep up with their
customers and more customer oriented as well through satisfying them into positive manner. In
this manner, management and leadership have their own importance on the organisational level
and in terms of styles followed by the organisation both the parameters are interrelated to each
other. So for achieving the out of box results it is very important that both an appropriate
leadership and management style should be followed by the organisation into effective manner.
In the overall manner, it has been observed that according to evaluation and comparison
between leadership and management it has been observed that leadership is more towards
directing the organisation and leading the team for organisational goals and vision which needs
to be achieved within a set period of time(De Beer., 2017). In the case of management, there is
more about the management of people or team and managing the daily activities of an
organisation into result oriented manner. Both parameters have their own roles and significance
into their field.

Key performance metrics refers to that kind of metrics which is a quantifiable measure of
performance over the period of time for a particular objective. KPIs basically provides the targets
for teams to shoot for, milestones to gauge progress and insights which help people across the
organisation in order to make good decisions. In context to TESCO organisation, they mainly
have six key performance indicators and on the basis of it the whole organisation has worked
into effective and result oriented manner as well(Grimsley and et.al., 2021). It basically include
sales, profit, operating cash flow, customers recommend us and come back again and again,
colleagues recommend us as the great place to shop and work and build trusted partnerships as
well. For measuring the success of an organisation, it can be sales done by the company on the
yearly and half yearly basis so that performance can be evaluated into result oriented manner.
The profits can also help in terms of analysing their performance into financial terms and
the cash flow within organisation also help the organisation in order to increase the efficiency
level of an organisation. The references and contacts also help the organisation in terms of
increasing the customers number into effective manner. When customers receive good services
then they give feedback to other people and to their near ones as well due to which the
performance of organisation get enhanced into significant manner (Knippenberg., 2018). KPIs
are very helpful for the organisation in terms of evaluating the many interviewing activities and
processes which is going on in an organisation. They also help in terms of saving time and
increases the efficiency in management as well. So key performance indicators are very
beneficial for the growth and development of an organisation into appropriate manner according
to as set period of time as well. These are the key performance indicators of TESCO organisation
which help into the context analysing the performance into result oriented manner.
Organisational leadership and management performance
Organisational leadership refers the management approach where leader support in terms
of setting strategic goals for the organisation while motivating individuals within the group in
order to successfully carry out the assignments in services towards those goals. The
organisational leadership is very important because it communicates the vision and mission,
inspires individual to put forth their talent in order to fulfil their goals which is aligned with the
strategic plan, establishes the strategic plan which ultimately lead towards the leader’s vision. In
context to TESCO, they have adopted the democratic style of leadership which is also known as

different set up to other companies regarding the process of appraisal of employees. They also
have self appraisal for their employees where employees give feedback by themselves or about
point of views regarding their performance. In the manner, TESCO organisation has managed
their performance and organisational leadership has been followed into effective manner as well.
In the overall manner, organisational leadership and performance management have their
own significance due to which organisation can follow all the procedures, rules and regulations
into result oriented manner(Lucas and et.al., 2018). Without proper leadership style its is difficult
to lead the organisation into right direction and without performance management it is difficult to
retain employees for longer period of time within their organisation. A proper performance
management can help the organisation in order to achieve results within a set period of time into
effective manner.
CONCLUSION
The above stated report concludes that leadership plays a very highly significant role at the
organisational level. It has been concluded that management and leadership needs to be
evaluated into effective manner so that accordingly further planning can be done by the
organisation. So leadership is all about leading the organisation into effective manner towards
the vision of an organisation. In the case of management it has been observed that management
of people and organisation is very important. If there is proper coordination between
management and leadership then ultimately organisation can perform into out of box manner. It
has been determined that there are certain key performance indicators which needs to be
considered by the organisation into effective manner so that overall objectives and goals can be

achieved into positive manner. These KPI indicators help in terms of evaluating the performance
into result oriented manner so that organisation can take actions accordingly for it. It has been
observed that the organisational leadership is also very important because without a proper
organisational leadership it becomes difficult for organisation to move continuously into right
direction with the result oriented approach. At the organisational level, it is very important to
evaluate the performance management into effective manner so that employees feel motivated
towards their work and perform into out of box manner as well. Performance management is a
kind of continuous process where the performance of employees have been evaluated over a
period of time so that accordingly further appraisal and promotion can be decided on the basis of
their performance. It is very important to analyse the performance of employees over a period of
time so that employees feel motivated towards their work into effective manner. For this
purpose, a leader has to take initiative to come up with exciting offers for their team members so
that employees feel satisfied from their job role.
