INTRODUCTION
In relation to our organisation there are different functions of management which are
directly related to planning organising staffing directing and controlling. It is important for
the organisation to manage these operations in order to achieve the goals and objectives
(Burns, 2018). The main purpose of every organisation is to provide superior quality
production services which will help in increasing productivity and efficiency level within the
organisation. In relation to the current report, an organisation is Google. It is international
organisations which is working within the technology sector and provide different kind of
services related to search engine, software and many more. In the beginning of this
assignment, there is a discussion on roles and characteristics of leaders and manager as well
as how the roles of leader applied in different situation. In the middle of this report, there is
discussion about different theories and approaches for including situation leadership system
as well as approaches to operational management in context of leaders. In the end of this
report, there is identification of factors which impact the decision making of leaders and
managers and related to the business environment of operational management.

P1 Define and compare the different roles and characteristics of a leader and a manager
Leader: A leader is a person who is responsible for motivating and dieting the
individuals within the organisation to improve the productivity and provide the direction to
achieve the goals and objectives. Leader also helps in achieving the vision by distributing the
work according to the requirement.
Manager: Manager is the person who is related to the distribution of work at
providing assistance within the task to employees so that they can perform in an appropriate
manner. Manager is related to boost in the performance of employees in a particular time
(Gillen, Jacquillat and Odoni, 2016)
Manager and leader both are important to the organisation where they play different
kind of rules in relation to employees. In relation to Google, leaders and manager within the
organisation play different kind of rules where they try to improve the performance by
providing a particular direction. Leaders and managers are important in increasing the quality
services within the organisation providing a direction.
Role of leader in Google
Leader are directly associated with providing guidance to the employees in relation to
carrying out different works in improved manner. It helps in increasing the motivation within
the employees so that they can perform in a particular direction. In relation to Google, leader
within the organisation focus on increasing the staff engagement by linking their performance
with the goals and objectives of the firm. There are different kinds of roles which are played
by the leader within the Google which are mentioned below:

Interpersonal role: It includes those rules of leader which are related to making the
high quality relationship within the employees. This is helpful to the organisation managing
the conflicts and increasing the productivity. This also improves the performance of
employees as well as level of productivity in future time (Bozarth and Handfield, 2016).
Information role: It is also important role which is played by the leader within the
organisation. This role is associated with providing information to the employees as well as
resolves their problems. It helps in maintaining a positive environment within the
organisation.
Decision making role: Leader is also a decision maker within the organisation where
it identify the different aspects of a particular situation which is faced by the organisation
while working on different operations. It is responsibility of leader to make effective
decisions so that other can work on it’s for achieving the goals and objective.
Motivation: Motivation is the important role which is played by the leader within the
Google. Here, manager motivating employees by using different kind of motivational
techniques as well as identification of individual behaviour. It is beneficial for company to
increase productivity and maintaining the staff for a longer period of time.
Characteristics of good leader in relation to Google
Honesty and loyalty is main characters within a leader which is necessary within the
organisation Google. It is helpful to the organisation in increasing the performance of
other employees by providing them a clear vision as well as performing the function
of a leader in an appropriate way.
Knowledge of leadership style is also important character within a leader perform in
different task within the Google.
Understand ability is also a character which is required within the leader this is
because a leader must understand the needs and requirement of individuals working in
different jobs as well as provide the guidance to work in an appropriate.
Role of manager in Google
Manager also acts as an important part within the organisation because it plays a
significant role within development of the organisation. There are different kinds of roles
which are played by the manager within the organisation. These grows include planning
organising staffing directing and controlling. In context of Google, manager within the
organisation helps in improving the performance of the firm by providing different kind of
possibilities related to improvement with in the decision-making processes as well as
handling situations in an appropriate way. It provide instruction to the organisation which are
related to organisational and achieving the goals and objectives in a specific manner. The
different functions of manager in relation to the Google are discussed below:
Planning: Planning is considered as a prime function of a manager within the
organisation in order to achieve the goals and objectives. In context of Google, add this
