INTRODUCTION
Management is considered as an factor that helps an organisation in handling their
business in a proper manner (Goodwin and Wright, 2014). They assist in utilising the machines,
funds and resources in a proper way. Marriott Hotel is one of the leading companies in United
Kingdom and dealing in hospitality services. In this report, different management styles has been
included which is used by an organisation for their business operations. Other than this, it
similarities and differences is also mentioned in this assignment. Along with this various
leadership characteristics and best possible communication process is included under this.
Organisational culture and change is involved in this from which researcher will get to know
about different circumstances present in market area.

P1 Comparison of different management styles
To run a business it is important that a proper management style is being followed by the
organisation. Management as the name suggests manages the whole task in such a manner that
company gains maximum benefits from them (Schermerhorn and et. al., 2014). This department
help an organisation in making strategies and proper plan of action with the help of all the
resources available to them. Thus, management utilises all the elements through which a
company can sustain in the market area for longer period of time. Here some of the management
style is given that is used by Marriott Hotel in managing their work and they are as follows:

Laissez Faire for getting better results in their business operations (Laudon and Laudon, 2015).

Leaders are the one who motivates their team members in performing the task in an
appropriate manner. For this they utilises various skills in order to maintain a better
communication with their subordinates. Marriott hotel is using different skills that are given

Interpersonal Skills: Interaction between employees and superiors is necessary so as to
conduct the business in as smooth manner. So, it is essential that managers and leaders maintain
a healthy environment at workplace. It is mandatory that a person who is appointed by a
company must have interpersonal skills and other than this honesty, dedication, communication
skills is also required (January and et. al., 2014).
Communication Skills: This is the basic trait which every body should have as this help
an individual in conveying their message in proper way so that a chain of conversation is
maintained. As the industry belongs to hospitality so, Marriott hotel is hiring candidates who are
good in communicating with others and apart from this company is providing various training
programmes in enhancing their skills.
Honesty: Strongest leaders perform their task with great honesty, they follow all the rules
and regulations in completing the work. Thus, they make sure that all the objectives are attained
without violating any laws.

collaboration of collective values that provides a vision and mission at the same time. Every
organisation have a different perspective and approach in doing their task. Therefore, managers
of Marriott Hotel is trying to give better organisational culture like proper working, flexible
working hours so that workers can work peacefully. Other than this they are using tools and
techniques which are giving them maximum benefits.
Demographic: Marriott hotel has expanded their business all over the world. Currently it
is having around 566 hotel and resorts across the globe. There hotels and restaurants are located
in various places with effective scenic beauty view.
Economic: The hotel is ranked amongst the top most preferable hotel, as the services and
facilities provided by them are best in class. Through this, they are able to generate more amount
of cash that they are using for expanding their business in more effective way.
Legislative: Marriott hotel before establishing their business consider all the rules and
regulations that are formulated by governmental bodies so that they doesn't face any problem in
future proceedings (Fayol, 2016).

Leadership Skills Leaders posses this trait, as I am the manager of this hotel it is
assisting me in controlling the work in a proper manner and along
with this it is helping me guiding my employees in a proper way
so that they can achieve the et goals and targets.
Interpersonal Skills To work effectively the person must have the quality like
honesty, listening to problems, etc., all this aid them in having a
good relation with clients and guest as well. Thus, I can easy
convince the other person by telling them about the interesting
offers to clients (Kotler, 2015).
Communication Skills I am very strong enough in communicating with others, it is
helping in providing information to guests in a proper way.

P7 Objectives and targets to develop own self
Various mediums are present in the market place through which an individual can
increase their skills and knowledge. This make a person capable in obtaining their set targets and
goals in specific period of time. Apart from this, it enable a person in giving tough fight to their
competitors (Block, 2016). Therefore, it is required to evaluate own strengths and weakness so
that appropriate changes can be done. There are following steps which will assist in knowing the
same are as follows:
Specific: Under this, an individual must set specific goals and objectives that he/she has
to follow.
Measurable: It is considered as the second step in which an evaluation is done to
measure the objectives and this is done on the basis of hypothesis.
Attainable: In this, before initialising the process they must identify whether this the set
target is achievable or not.
Relevant: Under this step, which is determined by the researcher to know of the objective
is relevant or not.
Time bounded (SMART) model: This is the last step in which the researcher identify
whether the given task is achievable on time or not (Joey and Yazdanifard, 2015).

leaders are the one who help them in doing so. According to the present scenario in the market,
many new tools and techniques are available fro which they can achieve their set targets. As
Marriott Hotel is facing economical crises because of which workers are feeling demotivated and
due to this the growth is deteriorating. Thus, it is having a negative impact on business
operations (Kacperczyk, NIEUWERBURGH and Veldkamp, 2014). To motivate and
encouraging employees, managers is using various methods like they are dividing the task in a
proper way so that workers doesn't feel pressurise. Other than this, leaders are taking their
employees in different hospitality sectors so that they can know how other organisation are
performing their task.

Therefore, leaders are boosting the morale of fellow workers so that they can given their
best efforts in completing the task.
P9 Justify managerial decisions made to support achievement of agreed goal
Managers can be said as the face of any organisation, hence, their prime role is to conduct
the whole task in an effective manner. In Marriott Hotel as I am the manager here so it is my
duty to operate the business in an proper way. Some of the factors that will assist the company in
achieving their goals are mentioned below:
Strategic Planning: This assist the organisation in making proper planing which will aid
them in achieving the goals and objectives. By evaluating the past performance they can make
changes as per the requirements.
Building a proper relation: A healthy environment should be maintained and for this it is
require that all the employees have a proper conversation with each other (Goodwin and Wright,
2014).
