INTRODUCTION
In order to gain effective success in the organisation, management requires managing all
business activities and function in such manner so as it can attain the desired objective within a
time period. In this manner, manger plays a very crucial role who is responsible to manage and
monitor each business activities and arrange them such effective manner so as outcome can
attain. Managing business activities are the process of managing all functions and activities in
such manner so as it can attain its objective within time period. For this objective effective
business practices, policies, system and structure of business is very important through which
business activities and function manage by the management (Achtenhagen, Melin and Naldi,
2013). The following project report provides a depth knowledge and understanding about the
business operation and how management of ABC company manage the business activities to
attain the objective. As per the scenario, ABC company is a recruitment firm which provides an
opportunity to employees for employment. In order to attain its objective, company design the
quality culture, SMART objectives and system to mange and monitor quality standards specified
with context of ABC company.
TASK 1
1.1 Evaluation of interrelationship between process and functions of ABC Ltd.
The process and functions of a business firm have a great relationship which is dependent
on the structure and culture of the workplace. Every organisation has a particular structure
according to which the process and functions are decided to be performed. Thus, it results into an
interrelationship between all the operations. The structure of ABC Ltd. is composed of various
departments like marketing, finance, HR, R&D, operations and IT. Each department is supposed
to perform different functions and carry out the processes that have been instructed by the
managers (Trevino and Nelson, 2010). As per the functions performed by any one department,
there is a significant role played by another department in it. For instance, in ABC Ltd, for the
function of performing a recruitment process, the initiative will be taken by HR department. This
operation will be performed by the support of various other departments as well. In this process,
the finance department will aid by setting budgets so that all expenses of advertisement and

similar works can be adjusted accordingly. Besides this, for conducting interviews, online tests
and screening, the IT department will play a major role. Thus, there is a great relationship
between various departments in carrying out different levels of operations (Achtenhagen, Melin
and Naldi, 2013).
In this process, various other things are also necessary to be considered. the decisions
related to strategic importance are also taken in ABC Ltd. with the help of all concerned persons.
Each department gets affected by any single decision because of which it is crucial to consider
all departments and processes of the department so that functions can be performed without any
difficulty and disturbances. The mentioned company follows a flat organisational structure and
currently having issues related to poor management which is the result of ineffective leadership
and management. Thus, here it is significant to understand the interrelationship of all processes
and functions so that a balance can be maintained in them (Yilmaz and Flouris, 2010).

1.2 Justification of methodologies for mapping process
The mapping of a process can be understood as a technique through which various
functions and processes of a business can be monitored to have the knowledge about their
movement in right direction. Thus, the ABC Ltd. can use the balanced scorecard method to map
the process and ensure that all the activities are going on in right direction to fulfil set aims and
objectives. This is a strategic action that is adopted by mangers to develop a process through

which all the activities of the company can be tracked and outcomes of each process can be
controlled by the managers. In mentioned firm, this approach is extensively used for mapping
processes of four areas which are financial performance, customer satisfaction, intrinsic business
process and growth opportunities (Mohammad and et.al., 2011).
 Financial performance: The business is conducted with the help of funds for which itis
necessary to have enough finance with the company. The cited enterprise can keep a
close watch on various activities and arrange adequate funds that can help in smooth
running of business. For this, it can keep control on functions to minimise wastages and
attract more investors to invest funds in business.
 Customer satisfaction: It is apparent that a business can run successfully only if it is
serving its clients in appropriate way and delivering them maximum satisfaction. So,
stated organisation must develop strategies that can aid in giving quality service to the
customers and make them satisfy (Osterwalder and Pigneur, 2010). Thus, there will be
more loyal customers with the business and more profitability.
 Learning and growth: The case states that company is having poor management and
ineffective leadership. Thus, the internal growth does not exist in the organisation. Hence,
it is required by the managers of quoted entity to have control on various activities and
adopt right leadership style. This will help in making internal function better with growth
opportunities for employees to give them satisfaction.
 Internal business process: The business process should be made more balanced and
synchronised with different departments so that there cannot be overlapping and
duplication of activities (Crawford and Nahmias, 2010). Thus, managers can maintain
better practices and food level of management.

1.3 Evaluation of process and required elements for building quality gateway
The above stated approaches will be helpful in monitoring and building strategies to
make improvements at the workplace of ABC ltd. company. Under this, various strategies will
be formulated that can leverage the improvement level. In this objective, making a quality
gateway is a major step that will enhance the performance level. Thus, there are several methods
which can help in building a quality gateway and improve the quality of performance. Thee
gateways are six sigma, TQM, Just in time (JIT) approach and training and development of staff
(Zhang and Gregory, 2011). The cited firm should organise the training and development
sessions so that the current knowledge level of employees can be enhanced. The use of total
quality management is also a better approach for which the managers will have to adopt the close
monitoring of all activities to give a productive output and quality services. Apart from this, the
JIT approach can be employed to improve the efficiency level of staff and have minimum
wastages in all the processes of firm. Thus, the enterprise will become potential to operate at
minimum cost with maximum output. The six sigma approach is also a high tech method to

make improvements in the quality (Ekinsmyth, 2013). This is a software driven approach in
which the quality is measured at different levels.

2.1 Design a plan to promote the goals and objectives for won area of responsibility for ABC
company
As per the given scenario, being an operation manager of the organisation, I have various
kind of role and responsibility for assess and evaluate all the business activities related to
operation in the organisation. In order to attain the objective within the time period, I required to
design a systematic plan which promote the goal of corporation. Following are some plans and
programs to support the objective of firm- Conduct internal and external business analysis- This is very effective plan for promote
the business objective. Under this plan, I need to analyse the internal and external
business environment of organisation. I require assessing and evolute the business as well
as employees performance (Anttila and Jussila 2013). In this manner I will analyse
employees strength and weakness and also analyse external threats and challenges of
venture. Conduct training and development programs-After analysing the strength and weakness
of personnels with in the organisation, in the next stage I will organise the training and
development programs for employees so as they can learn new skills, ability and
knowledge about the working in the organisation. My major objective of this plan is to
provide an opportunity to employees for improving their existing performance and
knowledge at workplace.
 Regular monitoring over performance- This is my another major responsibility being a
operation manager in the ABC company. By organise this plan and programs, I can
effectively monitor and control the performance of employees so as they can attain the
objective within time period (Chang, 2016. ). Effective monitoring assist in overcome the
performance related issue and weakness of employees.

2.2 SMART objective and recommendation relating to the alignment of people and other
resources
SMART objective refers to specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time oriented. By use
of this aspect, corporation can attain the reliable and valid result within specific period. As per
the given case scenario ABC is a recruitment consultancy firm which objective is to deliver
effective and appropriate employment services to job seeker on the basis of their skill,
knowledge and qualification (Da Xu, 2011). It aims is to improve the profitability and growth by
deliver effective employment services. Cited venture have following major SMART objective-
 Specific- ABC company have major objective is to increase the profitability and growth
of business by deliver high quality and appropriate employment services to job seekers.
 Measurable- Measurable term refers to the specific quantity which company wants to
increase and attain in every year or month in the business context. In this manner, ABC
company requires increasing the 20% profitability and growth of business and reduce
10% employees turn over in every year (Epstein and Buhovac, 2014). The specific target
of company which it wanted to attain within a period is known as measurable objective.
 Achievable- Achievable defines that the required objective must be achievable within the
time period. The objective must be achievable and accessible within time period and it
must not hypothetical. In this attribute, company have considered various activities and
functions which aids to attain the objective of corporation.
 Relevant- In this element of SMART objective, corporation have considered the research
and development activities so as it has determined the planning ad programs either which
is appropriate for organisation or not.
 Time oriented- The SMART objective must be time oriented it means the objective must
be attain specific time period. ABC company desires to attain the 20% profitability and
growth in every year.
2.3 Implementation of appropriate systems to attain objective in most effective ways on time
Following are various kinds of strategies and action of attain the objective in effective
manner. ABC company can adopt the following strategies to improve its existing performance
and attain the objective-
 ABC company requires organising training and development programs for employees so
as they can improve their existing performance, knowledge and skill about the working.

By organising training programs, firm can improve profitability and productivity of
business (Aversano, Grasso and Tortorella, 2016).
 Company should provide incentive and attractive rewards to employees so as they can
motivate and encourage for higher performance and productivity. In addition to this,
corporation should develop effective working practices and policies according to the
working of business. This will assist in managing business activities and functions.
 Corporation should consider on customer need and wants related to product and services
so as it can meet the objective of organisation. In addition to this, it should also increase
its promotional and advertisement related activities so as customer can more aware about
the product and services of firm (Gustafson, 2012)
 Research and development is the best strategy to improve the existing performance of the
company. Company should consider this activity through which it can effective produce
innovative services and meet customer expectation.
2.4 work activities meeting the operational plan
Monitoring and controlling are two major parts that can help in meeting with the operational
plan of an entity (Dale and et.al, 2013). Communication plays a significant role in this respect.
With the help of effective coordination information will get passed to one to another easily and
that would develop understanding and relationship between employees and employer of ABC
Company. Appropriate communication will support in exchanging necessary information of
operational plan and activities with employees. By this way cited firm will be able to reduce
difference between actual and expected performance level. For getting optimistic outcome it is
necessary to maintain quality standards in the workplace (Drucker, 2013). That is only possible
with the help of effective monitoring and controlling. Close supervision and effective controlling
over business activities will help in raising standards and it will assist in getting desired output
within decided time duration.
For meeting with the operational objectives of ABC company, cited firm has to divide roles
and responsibility of all significantly so that no further confusions take place (Ford and
Håkansson, 2013). Apart from this management has to allocate resources in appropriate
manner so that each activity will get sufficient resources. For getting desired output

is as following:
Total quality management (TQM)
It is one of the great way and system that supports in maintain the quality standard of the
organization for longer duration. TQM concentrates on involvement and participation of
employees. It also focuses on evaluating current performance and regular improvements.
With the assistance of total quality management ABC will be able to accomplish its
objective soon. Involvement of works is the way through which cited firm can know about
needs of consumers and gap between actual and required products (Gilmore and Pine, 2014).
Performance evaluation will help in identifying the lacking points of system. By this way
ABC would be able to raise its quality standards and it will be able to satisfy its consumers
well.

standards so that organizations can grow well and can achieve its objectives (Holloway,

Now a days completion is very high and to sustain in such complex environment is very
difficult. Development of quality culture is essential in ABC Company. With the assistance

evaluating the performance that can help in identifying lacking points. Thus organization
will be able to develop process by improving quality (Jackson, 2010). ABC Company is
required to monitor the tasks closely that would help in identifying the progress path of each
activities. Quality culture in the work place emphasis on giving appropriate training to staff
members so that employees can get developed and can contribute well in the success of
organization. In addition, ABC Company is required to follow ISO standards strictly so that
quality of products can be managed and maintained in the workplace. That would help in
attracting more consumers and making them satisfy. Thus, it can be said that quality culture
can support in continuous monitoring, evaluation and development of process significantly
(Lazarte and et.al, 2013).
3.3 Suggest ways to further improvement in ABC Company
As per the above discussion it is found that there are many lacking points in the ABC
Company and here is requirement of continuous improvement. With the help of several
strategies cited firm will be able to accomplish its objective soon. For the improvement ABC
should assign role and responsibility to employees effectively (Roy and Banerjee, 2012).
Top managers have to identify strength and weakness of specific person and accordingly
they have to give them duty so that employees can perform their well effectively with
perfection. By this way confidence of staff members will get raised up and they will serve
better to consumers. Thus sales of the organization will get enhanced and cited firm will be
able to achieve its objectives soon (Holloway, 2012).
ABC company should adopts methods of motivating its employees such as cited firm has
to give training to staff members so that they can develop new skills and feel encouraged.
Company should give salary increment to employees so that they feel satisfied and stay in
the organization for longer duration. Y this way job turnover rate of the firm will get
reduced and ABC would be able to increase its employee’s retention rates (Forsgren and

As per the above discussion it is found that ABC needs to improve its working performance
and have to make necessary changes in the organizational activities (Holloway, 2012).

organization to great extent. These changes give optimistic results to the cited firm but it can
negatively impact on the business performance too. Giving training and conducting
development programs are great changes in ABC Company. With the help f this people will
enhance new skill and it will support in increasing sales volume of company (Roy and
Banerjee, 2012). On other hand this strategy is not good because due to this operational cost
of ABC Company can get enhanced to great extent. So it is essential that cited firm arrange
train for employees as per their requirements so that un necessary expenditures of
organization can be minimized soon. Another changes was suggested that to motivate staff
members. But for that ABC is require to enhance salary of employees. That impacts positive
and can encouraged workers. By this way they will put their best efforts for the welfare of
company. On other hand this change can impact negatively because labour cost of
organization will get high. Thus profit will get reduced to great extent (Jackson, 2010). This
wider changes impact in both ways in the workplace so strategies need to be followed
carefully so that it can give optimistic results to the cited firm.
