Assessment Task 1
Legislative and Regulatory Context
The main purpose of the assessment is to analyse the business of BBQ Fun which is
engage in the business of manufacturing the products of the business. The products which is
offered by the business are through the stores of the company. The management of BBQ is
planning to expand the operations of the business by introducing an e-commerce system which
has the capacity to increase the sales of the business which can enhance the sales of the business
(Friend and Jessop 2013). The management of the company needs to ensure that the business
adheres to the legal requirements in the business. The management needs to consider the
regulatory framework and also cyber security protocols of the business so that the setting of e-
commerce can be established in the business (Laudon and Traver 2016). The management of the
company needs to consider the cyber security for the customers who are engaged with the
business and ensure that their personal data is maintained by the business at all costs (Chadwick
2013). The privacy of data of the customers need to be protected by the business so that
customers feel secure while trading with business online.
Policies and Procedures related to Operational Plan
The policies and procedures of BBQ Fun aims at promoting the best practices in the
business which would aid the e-commerce facility which the management of the company wants
to implement in the business (Nosair and Bouffard 2015). Some of the policies which can be
implemented by the management may relate to better structure of business, providing better
services to the clients, improving the refund policies of the business. These forms an integral part

of the operational plan and the same needs to implemented so that the overall business structure
is maintained.
Role of Operational Plan
The operational plan is formulated by the management of the company aims to achieve
the goals and objectives of the business. This is also done with the intention that the management
can also take appropriate decisions which take the company closer towards achieving the goals
of the business. In the case of BBQ Fun, the management of the company is trying to expand the
operations of the business for which the management is planning to incorporate e-commerce
facilities which would be requiring a solid operational plan. The operational plan would be
formulated in such a way that the plans identify which activities the business needs to undertake
and how the same can be undertaken by the management of the company.
Development of Operational Plan
In order to appropriate set the new e-commerce system which the management of the
company is planning to implement, the management needs to develop a new operational plan and
take necessary steps for the purpose of replacing the old plan (Frazzon et al. 2014). In order to
formulate the e-commerce strategy of the business, the management of the company would be
requiring assistance from different departments of the company. The main objective of the
business will be to develop the operational plan so that the e-commerce facilities can be
implemented successfully.

Resource Requirement
In order to establish the e-commerce facility, the management of the company needs to
have access to resources which can be used for developing and maintaining the e-commerce
facility. The management of the company would be requiring both physical and human resources
for implementing the e-commerce facility. The human resources which the business would be
requiring for the new e-commerce facility comprises of technicians and engineers. In addition to
this, the e-commerce facilities would also be requiring the judgements of the CEO, CFO,
operational general manager (Di Minin and Faems 2013). In addition to this, the management of
the company would also be requiring physical resources which would be aiding the business and
further help to enhance the revenue which is generated by the business. The physical resource
requirements of the company will be comprising of system of computer, delivery trucks,
forklifts, software installation. These physical resources would help in the online sales activity of
the business and increase the revenue generation capacity of the business.

You: Hello, how are you today?
Sales Manager: I am fine, thank you. What do you want to discuss about?
You: It is concerning the operational plan which I have developed and as you are aware that e-
commerce setting is being implemented in the business. I was hoping to discussing a key
component regarding the role of sales team in such a system.

Sales Manager: Ok, let’s hear this plan and then I can add or remove certain elements and even
give you certain suggestions regarding the same.
You: The sales team would be undergoing drastic changes as new members would be joining the
teams and they will be looking after online sales team. It is estimated that a total of 8 additional
employee would be required for handling the online sales department. In addition to this, it is
also anticipated that the volume of clients that you will be handling will enhance as well.
Sales Manager: We can also train some of our old staff member to handle the e-commerce
system that way we can rely on the efficiency and creditability of the old staff members.
You: Yes, I was thinking of that also but you need to undertake the training yourself so that a
level of efficiency can be maintained. You will also be given a basic idea regarding the new e-
commerce setting as soon as the plan is implementation stage.
Sales Manager: Yes of course, I would be overseeing the training phase as well. I think it would
be better if I am also on the interview panel when new employees are recruited.
You: This is the whole plan for now, any changes in the same would be communicated to you.

You: Hello, how are you today?
Technology Consultant: Hello I am fine. You wanted to discuss some times with me which I am
guessing is about the e-commerce plan.

You: Yes, it is about the e-commerce system which is being implemented in the business. Now,
here the main thing which I needed to draw your attention to is that the management does not
want a common e-commerce system which is used by all. The company wants to develop a
unique one whatever, the costs may arise.
Technology Consultant: Yes I had a discussion with the CEO and he wants the most modern
technology which is available in the market.
You: Exactly, what are the physical resources which would be required in developing and
assisting the system?
Technology Consultant: Some hardware products would be required, programs for operating the
system which I am being told will be installed already, cyber security firewall system. Apart
from this, some of the physical resources which would be aiding in enhancing the sales of the
business are system of computer, delivery trucks, forklifts, software installation. I have prepared
a checklist and provided the same to designer and a copy of the same I will mail you as well.
You: Have you asked for a budget for such resources, as finance team needs to be ready with the
funds?
Technology Consultant: Yes, I already asked for it and they will provide it by tomorrow itself.
Human Resource Requirement
The management of the company also needs to consider the human resources for the business so
that appropriate support can be provided to the e-commerce system in order to ensure that the
expansion process of the business is undertaken without any hindrances.
