INTRODUCTION
Organisational behaviour is termed as the way in which employees of the organisation
interact with each other in order to produce the desired productivity of the company. It can be
basically promotes better working environment that motivates the efforts of the employees and
result in efficient and effective productivity. This report is based on the Organisational behaviour
of the employees within 1Spatial,Plc company and this organisation deals with software
production. This study will provide cultural, political and power influence of the organisation
that impacts on the overall performance of the company. The report will also create an
understanding about the motivation of individual and team in order to achieve main objectives of
the firm. The study will also in improving the understanding about effective cooperation of all
the employees within the organisation. This research will also help in application of various
concepts and philosophies in 1Spatial,plc.

P1 Analysing cultural, political and power influence that effects individual and team behaviour
in order to improve performance
Organisation culture can be termed as set of values, ethics, policies and procedures that is
adopted in an organisation in order to perform the effective operational activities within the
1Spatial,plc. Being the HR manager of the company, one have to improve working procedure
and policies within organisation in order to improve individual and group performance of the
company (Joshi, 2016). 1Spatial,plc is an leading producer company of computer software which
facilitates large opportunities to improve the data management of the organisation and worldwide
communication of company with customers. This organisation generates $10M to$20M turnover.
Culture influence: It is referred as the concept that help in promoting the powerful working
environment for employees. Human resource managers in 1Spatial,plc are responsible for
promoting the cultural influence within the environment of the company as it helps in motivating
the workforce and hence improved the productivity of the organisation. Assembling effective
employees in company help in generating effective team of the 1Spatial,plc so this can be termed
as the collective values and behaviour that directly impacts on the working situations of the
employees within company. It can be considered as indicator that might help managers in
improving the performance of the company. Positive impacts of culture may be defined as
healthy working environment that help employees in effective productivity.

For instance 1Spatial,plc is an high technology company that acquires a culture which
encourage innovations and adaptability that supports high performance in organisation. So
mangers have to constantly promote positive working culture that ensures the healthy interaction
between employees and hence encourage them in order to improve the performance of the
workers. Handy's culture have described various cultures in an organisation. There are four types
of cultural influence that effects the organisational environment of OB such influences can be
demonstrated below:
Power: This lay emphasis on the person who has the higher authority can use the power in to
take the decision regarding the employees. It may motivate or demotivate an employee. If the
person using the power in a fair way so it cannot effect the behaviour of the employees then it
leads to the satisfaction among workforce. If the person taking wrong advantage of using power
then it may leads to dissatisfied workforce and it may minimises the productivity of the
1Spatial,plc.
Task: This mainly focus on tasks which aimed at forming an effective team. In an organisation
when teams are formed in order to address a specific problem then it can be considered as task
culture. It may also effect negatively and positively. Team leader have to identify the strengths
and weakness of the members for the assignment of accurate tasks. This leads to an effective
team.
Role: This is determined by the position of the person in structure of the 1Spatial,plc. In short
organisation who follows role culture tends to produce bureaucratic culture within working
environment.
Person: This mainly focuses on the person which helps in valuing the efforts of the individual
person and hence this derives the positive attitude among workforce of 1Spatial,plc.
Hofstede's cultural theory is a framework that promotes the cross cultural communication
between the cultural aspects of the society and company. It describes the effects of the society's
culture which demonstrates the values related to the behaviour of the human, and various
different types of attitudes which a person carries at different situations. Hofstede's identifies 4
types dimensions such as individualism, masculinity, power, distance and uncertainty avoidance.
Impact of politics and power
Power and politics play a huge role in business which enables various decisive roles such
as interaction of the employees with each other and techniques of manager in implementing the

policies and procedure of the company. Power is mainly provided to the higher management
people who uses such power in taking the decisions in 1spatial,plc. These powers may be
positive or negative. Managers of 1Spatial,plc uses positive power in organisation to encourage
the effective and efficient productivity in business (Aravopoulou, Mitsakis and Malone, 2017).
Such positive influence of the power may includes rewards and recognition that improves the
individual performance of the workers and hence it helps in building the effective team. Also,

 Coercive Power: This Power develops a threat of fear among team members. So Power
lets the employees to act according to the instructions of the Leaders.
 Reward Power: This Power allows the leader to praise or reward the employees in order
to motivate them. this reward may be monetary or non monetary.
 Legitimate Power: It mainly helps Managers, Executive or higher authority to take
decisions because of their status and position in Spatial,plc.
 Expert Power: This power helps those employees who have more skills, knowledge and
experience are likely to hold expert power.
 Referent Power: This can be referred as employee who have lot of referent power may
have built large social connections with people so they are able to use that power as a
reference.
Influence of healthy OB can builds a confidence among employees and this motivate
them to work even harder. Improved performance of the team can be achieved by influencing the
positive behaviour of the employees at workplace. Negative powers of managers in 1Spatial,plc
may include threatening of job loses or by punishing them for their errors. This demotivate
individual employees and this will be effect the performance of the individual that will be
responsible for overall ineffective team performance.
Politics may be influenced by those persons who possesses the higher authority in
organisation such as managers and all the upper management people. This can be referred as
dishonest unethical behaviour at workplace. It may influence the behaviour of the individual
employees negatively or it may influence positive environment among workforce. Negative use
of politics and power in company may leads to favouritism and this demotivate other workers
and therefore it decreases the productivity of individual employees and this affects lower
performance of the team. Positive politics may leads to the motivation of employees and hence

individual provides effective efforts which in turn improves the team performance of the
1spatial,plc and hence it generates higher profitability in company. This helps in promoting the
positive environment in company and result in more productivity.
Politics on Performance may impacts negatively as it lowers the output of an individual
and also demotivate an employee. Also, it can be analysed that people who play politics can at
workplace may not be able to pay attention towards sincerity in performing job at organisation.

Culture influence is a more powerful way of controlling and managing the behaviour of
the employees within 1Spatial,plc and it also helps in smooth functioning of the operational
activities of the company. Positive culture embraces healthy working environment in the

performance of the employees. On the other hand if 1spatial,plc acquires negative culture then it
may effects the productivity of the company which can be responsible for decreased efforts of
employees and result in low performance of the workforce in organisation.
Higher authority management may inspire the employees by taking fair decisions in the
company. This encourages the working spirit of the employees and this helps in effective

Application of motivational theories in business helps leaders and managers in fulfilling
the basic needs of the employees which promotes motivation among employees. Such theories
help in identifying the needs of the employees in order to satisfy the workforce of 1Spatial,plc.
In order to achieve motivated employees, various motivational theories are designed that help
managers and leaders in determining the needs of workers. It can be further categorised below:
Process theory

This type of motivational theory mainly focus in steps that have to be taken by the
managers of 1Spatial Plc in order to influence the positive environment among workforce. It
basically concerned with change and development of the entity. Process theories may be
classified into several types of motivational concepts such as maslow's need hierarchy theory,
Herzberg's two factor theory etc.
Maslow's need hierarchy theory
This theory determines basic need of employees and it is created in hierarchical or
pyramid shape which helps in identifying the needs of the employees. This can be categorised in
5 level of needs such as Psychological, Safety and security, self esteemed etc. Maslow had
arranged such needs in a sequential manner where basic needs are kept at the bottom and most

It can also be called as Motivation-Hygiene theory or Herzberg's two factor theory. This
theory says there are two types of factors that influence the behaviour of the employees such
factors are motivating factor and hygiene factor. Application of this motivational theory in
1Spatial,plc helps in determining working conditions and working environment of the people
which makes them ei t her satisfied or unsatisfied that directly impacts on the individual efforts

Leaders and managers need to apply the effective theories and concepts in order to achieve the
growth and development of the company (Akpotu and Ginah, 2015). Various recommendations
which need to be followed by managers and leaders in order to sustain the company for the
longer duration in market. Such suggestions are as follows:
 Managers should posses the effective qualities which help in coordination of various
departments in company.
 Strategies should be designed according to the requirements of the market.
 Managers should also monitor operational activities in business.
 Leaders should have to acquire effective qualities that help in properly communicating
the strategies to employees.
 Managers should promote the healthy working environment which help in influencing the
behaviour of the workforce and this will help in increased efforts of the employees.

Individual efforts of the employees can be helpful in creating the effective team in
organisation. Most successful business teams can be determined by the individual efforts of team
members and this will ultimately strengthen the team performance and hence help in delivering
the effective output of 1Spatial,plc. It is the responsibility of the leaders to motivate team
members and promote their skills in order to achieve the effetive productivity in the company6.
Main goal of 1Spatial,plc can be accomplished by leaders need to identify the strengths
and weaknesses of their team members so that task and activities assigned to them according to

their interests. If the individual employee of the organisation is satisfied then one will be anle to
apply the effective efforts which in turn help in achieving the effective output of the company. In
order top make the affective team, leaders have to promote the communication which help in
improved relationship of the workers and it also promotes the healthy environment in
1spatial,plc. Creation of an effective team can be possible when team members can identify their

Organisational behaviour helps in influencing the attitude of the workforce that may
affect the overall objective of the firm negatively or positively. So in order to achieve the overall
objectives of the company. Various concepts and philosophies are applied in the business in
order to identify the organisational behaviour of the workers of 1Spatial,plc. Various factors of
philosophies which influence the working procedure are mainly depended on the cultural aspects
of the business. Different situations of the business in which motivational behaviour can
influence the employees can be elaborated below. Such situations are as follows:
Retention of employees
When employees of the organisation do not feel motivated and cannot retain in 1Spatial
for the longer run then managers of the company have to adopt different motivational
philosophies in an organisation in order to sustain the position of the organisation in market
(Iverach and et.al., 2015). Proper monitoring the activities and performance of the employees

objectives of the company. Positive aspects may includes goodwill of the enterprise in market.
Positive influence may help in smooth functioning of the company and hence this will be helpful
in increased profitability of the organisation. The positive influence of application of different
philosophies and concepts ensures motivated and satisfied workforce in the company. On the
other hand, if such concepts and philosophies are not applied properly then it may be result in
lower performance of the company minimise the productivity (Chanane and et.al., 2017). Such
situations will be responsible for financial instability and it ultimately restricts the growth and

development of the firm. Negative influence might be responsible for losing the loyal customers
which decrease the sales of goods and services of the company and this decrease profit

D2 Critically analyse of team development theories in order to influence the behaviour at
workplace
Team development theories are mainly applied in the business in order to satisfy the
workforce of the company. Positive behaviour of the employees at workplace may help in
achieving the overall team targets which helps in accomplishing the overall objectives of the
business. On the other hand if the workforce of the company is demotivated then it may result in
less efforts which is responsible for low productivity and managers will find hard to achieve the
overall goals (Aftab and et.al., 2015). Decreased productivity impacts on thr sustainability of the

From the above report it has been concluded that culture, politics and power plays a huge
role influencing the behaviour of the employees within 1Spatial,plc. This sstudy had made a
complete understanding about organisational behaviour that impacts on the individual and team
performance which in turn decreases efficient productivity of the organisation. The report had
also helped in promoting the motivated environment in the company that effective efforts of
employees in order to achieve overall objective in 1Spatial,plc. The research had also explained
various concepts and philosophies that can be applied in an organisation to improve the OB
among workforce of the company that help in generating effective productivity. It had also
described several strategies that help in making effective team as opposed to ineffective team in
enterprise.
