Presentation skills: This skill is important for every employees as they
have to regularly deal with customer and their grievances so that their
experience with Travelodge will improve which results in increase in
chances of transforming them into loyal customer. As a manager I am
continuously improving my presentation skills so that I enhance
understanding of employees at the time of training.
Time management is directly linked with productivity of employees as if
more time is allotted to less important work and less time is assign to
important work then employee won't be able to perform with their highest
efficiency in both the task. Different techniques I uses to manage my time
to perform better at Travelodge is given below,
Work according to priority: Work should be done according to the
priority level assigned as it will assist me while completing my work on
time. For instance, if three work is assigned to me by my manager then I
will attempt that work which has highest priority and after completing it I
will switch to the less important work and so on. More time should be
given to highest priority work and less time to the less important work.
Time Effectiveness: Before starting any work, time should be divided
according to the number of work assigned to them so that speed of work
would be set accordingly. For instance, if five work is assigned to me and
I have to complete in 2 hours then I will divide hours so that all the work
would be complete with extra time left to cross check the work. It
indirectly increases productivity and efficiency of me while working and
employees could opt this to improve their working performance also.
Manager of Travelodge work is to clear hurdles in the path of
employees so that they can attain their maximum productivity which
will persuade to overall improvement in working efficiency and
effectivity of company. Company have been experiencing high
employee turnover ratio and as an assistant manager my work is to
reduce or demolished underpin problems so that company would
attain a new height. Various strategies which I will use to clear
below mentioned problem so to reduce employee turnover ratio is as
follows: High workload: Employee can only perform with their
best potential if they are handling pressure when it is at their
breakeven point. As if less pressure is given to employees then they
cannot perform with their best productivity and if more pressure is
given to them then company will experience high labour turnover
ratio. So it’s my work is to maintain the work pressure so that
employee can outperform their performance every time they work. I
will make a chart in which work assigned to employees will be
according to their skills and capabilities. For example, if sales
executive of Travelodge company is acquiring 50 customers per
month then I will set their target to 60 so that it won’t affect their
work in a negative way. Apart from that, sales target will be set
according to demands of whole market rather than in comparison
with their last performance. Low morale and motivation of staff:
Motivation is directly proportionate to working performance of
employees. If they are less motivated at workplace or while
performing, then their working performance will also reduce which
will decrease the overall performance of company and vice versa.
Company management and I should make a plan for providing
financial and no financial rewards according to the working
performance of employees so that they would feel motivated while
working. For instance, I will set a minimum target of 30 customers
per month for every sales executives and after they crossed the pre-
set target, 5% incentive of every sale they done will be given to
them. Those who did not achieve it, proper training will be given so
that they would perform better in the future. Low job satisfaction:
Satisfaction plays an important part in the success of professional
development of any employees. If they are not satisfied with the
work assigned to them then cannot perform with their maximum
efficiency. I will make a list of employees with their skills and
capabilities so that work would be assigned to them accordingly.
For instance, if an employee has skills of making delicious food but
different work is assigned to them then it will be my responsibility to
change their work and transfer that employee to the kitchen
department.
Communication is one of the essential factors which should be
properly used by company and its employees as if it is not properly
used then it will boost conflict among employees but if it is use in an
effective manner then it will reduce conflict between employees. Top
level: It includes all the executives who has the power of making or
modifying rules and regulations. I should have effective listening as
then only I would be able to transfer all the information which is
provided by them. Middle level: All the manager and assistant
manager comes in this level. I should have proper communication
skills as then only we can discuss the ways through which lower level
employee’s productivity will increase. Lower level: I should have
effective communication and presentation skills so that skills would be
inculcate to them which will assist them to excel at their work.
Different styles which should be used by employees and I is describe
below: Effective listening: Listening is important in communication as
then only employees would be able to understand the information I am
sharing with them. It assists in reducing ambiguity among employees
so that chances of conflict will be reduce to a certain level. Reduce in
conflict rate will increase motivation level of employees resulting in
higher productivity of employees and company.
Communication skills: It is an important skill which I should have as
then only I will able to share information which is provided to me by
management. If am not able to communicate properly then it will
demotivate employees as their working instructions is not clear at all.
It also assists me while negotiating with employees regarding their
working hours or pay they are getting.
