INTRODUCTIONPersonal and professional development is an important concept that includesenhancement of skills and knowledge of individuals so that they can perform their job roles in aneffective manner (Professional and Personal Development, 2015). It consists of improvement ofseveral factors such as communication, presentation, creativity, interpersonal and soft skills, etc.Such aspects are beneficial for work life and personal growth of an individual. This report isabout personal and professional development for supervisor of a restaurant. McDonald's has beenchosen for the study which an American brand is delivering several types of fast food andbeverages. Several approaches for self-managed learning and their benefits will be discussed inthis report. Also, it is required to identify the development needs in order to make an action plan.This report will include activities involved in the development plan. There are certain benefitsthat company and employees can get from these methods of learning will be discussed here aswell. TASK 11.1 Assessing approaches of self-managed learningSelf-managed learning is a concept in which individuals will learn from their pastexperiences. It also includes knowledge gained from schools and colleges. Such type of learningis reflected from communication, innovation and mentality of a person. Along with that, thereare several other methods which could be used by an individual to improve the skills for personaland professional development. These are as follows- Seminars- Seminars could be conducted in order to enhance the knowledge and skills ofemployees (Forte and Flores, 2014). It assists in improving interactive and presentation abilitiesas well as they become able to speak properly in the public without getting hesitated. Thiscompany can organize such programs to improve the personality of staff members in an effectivemanner. Internet- It is an important source of knowledge from where an individual can gaindifferent types of skills. There are so many videos available on several sites that are veryeffective in improving the abilities of person on frequent basis. Training- These are the sessions in which experts and experienced people share theirinformation and thoughts. This helps in personal and professional development of individuals. It1

Therefore, this enterprise canarrange training programs to enhance capabilities of workers to make them perfect in theirassigned jobs. 1.2 Suggesting ways in which lifelong learning could be encouragedLifelong learning refers to skill set that remains with an individual for the whole life. Itbegins when they are born and remains till the last age (Gamrat and et. al., 2014). Such skillscould be gained from both formal and informal ways. Firstly, an individual learns from motherand family members. It includes disciplines, habits, values, cultures, etc. After this, they get theknowledge from academic institutions such as schools and colleges. An individual applies theseskills in every situation he is facing in the life. These are essential in motivating self-learning tofacilitate personal and professional development. SWOT analysis is required to evaluate ownopinions, judgements, perceptions, etc. Strengths are related with positive aspects of a person that helps in fulfilling the needs ofpersonal and work life. It reflects from the attitude and behaviour of an individual. Weaknessesare negative aspects of personality that affect the growth process of a person. Opportunities arethe methods available through which personal and professional development could be done inorder to make future secure and achieve desired goals of life. At last, threats are the externalbarriers that create problems for person.
