CE 3.2.5 My responsibilities throughout the project
I had worked with my team to provide the client with the best quality work for the
project. I had conducted studies of The Technical Offers of Tenders. I was in charge of revising
the tender drawings and calculations taking into concern the voltage drop. I had prepared the
Shop Drawings. I had also helped in the preparation of the prequalification and material
submittal for all electrical work. At the end I had handed over the work to the consult authority
that supervises on the project.
CE 3.3 Distinctive Activity
CE 3.3.1 Comprehending the theory of the project
The project is based on the development of a 6 kilometers road starting from intersection
of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Road with Thumama Road up to the King Salman Road. The project had
been launched by Arriyadh Development Authority. I was responsible for looking after the
necessary communications devices like traffic lights, CCTV cameras, lighting, electric and
power systems. Due to some problems I had worked on diverting the existing service networks
from the main project work. I had also helped in the implementation of the service networks
compatible with the road's new levels and design.
CE 3.3.2 Engineering knowledge and skills applied in the project
For the completion of the project I had coordinated with the Government authorities for
the clearing of site related problems. I had then reviewed the lux calculation for indoor lighting,
outdoor and road lighting. I then revised the tender drawings and calculations of the project. I
had then provided supervision on electrical work as the technical specifications and followed up

the work plan. This helped me to prepare the prequalification and material submittal for all
electrical work.
CE 3.3.3 Accomplishment and task performed
I had worked on the project for the development of 6 kilometres road. I had helped in the
following of the quality of the process of the reviews and the installation inspection for the
project timeline. I had assisted my team in the review of the shop drawings and for the ensuring
of the design was being followed as planned. I was asked to acct the material engineer and thus I
was responsible for looking after the quality of the material s that was being used for the project.
I was also asked to meet with the local authorities for the process of submittals of the contracts
and other necessary site visits. At the end I had acknowledged the risk assessment of the project
and the safety of the project site and of the workers.
CE 3.3.4 Identified issues and their solutions
3.3.4.1 Issues
Once the lighting system of the King Salman Road had been completed, I found that the
MCCB was tripping many times. This caused the whole lighting circuit to cut off. I then checked
the electronic time of the panel and the photo cell conditions which showed no tampering
problems. Then I noticed that the Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker (ELCB) had also been tripped.
This ELCB had been calibrated on a 2MA scale. Thus this was the reason for the tripping of the
lighting circuit.
Another problem which I had faced during my work on the project was after the
installation of the Ultrasonic level sensor (LST500) for the pumping station in Anas Ben Malik. I

found that the sensor was showing fluctuations in the reading for the water level in the tanks.
This problem indirectly affected the functionality working of the pump.
3.3.4.2 Solutions
I increased the calibration of ELCB from 2 MA to 15 MA. After this I switched both the
ELCM and the MCCB on at the same time and the circuit panel was working correctly.
After the analysis of the problem I found that the control cable and the wires for LST500
was pulled in the same cable tray of the power cable. This problem caused the generation of a
magnetic field which forced the sensor to have noise in the values of the readings and thus the
wrong readings. This caused me to consult with the ABB Application Engineer. I then decided to
isolate both the control cables and wires from the power cable instead of using the same tray.
This solved the problem and the sensor was showing correct readings.
CE 3.3.5 Plan to produce creative and innovative work
For the project I had implemented my knowledge of the electrical development and
provided with the most creative work of my career. I studied that the lighting fixtures that I was
provided with to install for this project was based on High Pressure Sodium (HPS) type. I had a
meeting with the client and discussed with them the problems which could arise with the
installation of the HPS lightings. I suggested to them to use LED lightings instead of the HPS. I
described to the clients the advantages for the use of LED lights which had virtually zero
maintenance cost and the working time of the LED lights are more than the standard found
lights. This made them to change their decision and asked me to proceed with the installation
procedure of the LED lightings. During the installation of the lights there was found to be a clash
between the lighting pole in the centre median and the pedestrian bridge. This forced me to

cancel the installation pf the lighting pole and instead install a LED Light projector of 200W
which provided the desired LUX projection in the area.
CE 3.3.6 Collaborative work
I had taken the help from my team members and my supervisor to complete the project
and to deliver to the client the best quality work. The complete project was under the ownership
of Arriyadh Development Authority. I was working under the contract of Ferrovial Agroman
Company. For the lighting fixtures installation, after the client decided to install LED instead of
HPS I had contacted Phillips to provide with the lighting fixtures for the complete project. I had
then worked with them to find the best LUX which would cover the entire area of the project.
CE 3.4 Project Review
CE 3.4.1 Project Overview
I was able to provide the client with the best quality project and the most innovative and
