3PROJECT MANAGEMENT ASSIGNMENT
2. Report recommending best project management methodology
Home improvement plans are offered by Manley, which is a family-owned home
improvement planner company. This company has developed 4 different stores in London.
However, the owner is interested to expand their stores considering competitors. The designers
have developed the 3 stored respectively 7, 3, 1 years ago and the 4th store was opened just last
week.
In order to earn commercial benefit from these projects the three separate projects that are
considered include-
First project- Upgrading the current website or online presence of Manley
Second project- Design and implementation of a management information system
Third project- Creating a loyalty programme
The nature, size and type of three of the projects are different. Therefore, the project
development methods for these projects are also different. The timescale and budget estimated
for each project also varies. The project management methodologies for each project are
illustrated below:
Management method for first project: In order to upgrade the existing website, waterfall
methodology is most suitable followed by requirement gathering, analysis, system design and
development maintenance and closure. At first requirements should be gathered and analyzed. In
the design phase, the programming language to be used to improve the website is considered
along with selection of database and other technical details. Waterfall model is selected because
Management method for second project: For implementing the management information
system, Manley should maintain agile project development methodology. This method is

recommended because agile is an iterative project development model, broadly applicable for
managing technical projects. The issues of backlog and functionality can be easily resolved if the
MIS is implemented followed by agile methodology.
Management method for third project: For creating a loyalty program project the
management method that is perfect or most suitable is Kanban agile framework. This method is
recommended because this visual method aims on delivering quality results. In order to operate
and apply this method the practices to be selected include visualization, limiting work progress,
flow management, policy explicit, use of feedback loops and experimental evolution.
3. Feasibility of all the projects
Feasibility reports for three of the projects are measured here.
For project 1:
Net profit= 3,000
Total investment= 10,000
ROI= (3000/10000)*100%= 30%
For project 2:
Net profit= 2,000
Total investment= 10,000
ROI= (2000/10000)*100%= 20%
For project 3:

5PROJECT MANAGEMENT ASSIGNMENT
Net profit= 4,000
Total investment= 12,000
ROI= (4000/10000)*100%= 40%
Which one to carry out first
For the three projects the values of ROI are respectively 30%, 20% and 40%. The value
of ROI is highest for the third project that is 40%, because the goal of any project is always to
earn high ROI. In other words, the aim of Manley is to have maximum ROI for a minimum
investment. The investments for individual projects are same. Therefore, it can be said, among
these three projects, creating a loyalty program is the most suitable and feasible for Manley. The
ROI value will the project associates know that which project activity is working properly and
which one is not rather needs immediate change.
Task 2: Project details
1. Creating detail Gantt on a specific selected project
After presenting feasibility report for three of the projects it is identified that,
implementation of loyalty program is the most important above website upgrading and
management information system implementation. Manley has 4 operating stores in London and
after competitive analysis the company has planned to expand their business. The company does
not have IT infrastructure department and they are looking for further departmental
improvement. Therefore, the project that is nominated for Marley is “improvement or creating
loyalty program”.

budget on which the loyalty program development project will be completed. This measurement
is essential because it identifies how long time the project will take to get accomplish. It is
always depicted in flowcharts where all the events can be represented in nodes. This three point
estimation technique is used to prepare project schedule. This graphical presentation identifies
dependency among project development activities and their sequences as well. It also measures
values of most likely (tM), optimistic (tO) and pessimistic (tP).
