INTRODUCTION
Quality management can be defined as practice and act of defining standards of all
practices and controlling different activities so that they maintain desired level of excellence.
Management of quality is an extensive process that involves determination of policy for quality,
creation and implementation of quality planning and assurance of quality and quality control as
well quality improvement. This report aims at introducing a companywide quality improvement
strategy. Improvement strategy will involve different approaches like total quality management,
quality assurance, quality control implications for ETC. ETC (Engineering Tooling Company)
was founded in 1960 in North East of England. This company manufactures engineering
callipers, scribes and several other products. Company has been approached for manufacturing
medical equipments and through application of quality improvement strategy standard of
Medical equipment on the special order” will be improved. In order to introduce quality
improvement strategy firstly standards for improvement in quality will be determined. This
involves determination of standards that ETC wants to achieve for Medical equipments on
special order. This stage is important for creating basis for further decisions and actions that are
taken for quality improvement of medical equipments. Followed by this, a market assessment
will be conducted to assess market and want are standards that is being followed by other
manufacturers and for medical equipments. Later, planning, implementation and evaluation is
done. TQM, quality assurance and quality control will be considered in complete strategy of
quality improvement. In addition to this there are certain generalised standards for medical
equipments developed by International Organization for Standardization and by British
Standards Institution.
MAIN BODY
In order to introduce quality improvement strategy in ETC for Medical Equipment of
Special Order firstly it is important to determine steps that will be taken in order to introduce
strategy (Abbas, 2020). Following are certain stages that can be followed for introducing quality
improvement strategy in ETC. These stages involve preparing for introducing quality
improvement strategy and followed by this quality improvement strategy will be introduced in
ETC.
Define

This is first stage for introducing quality improvement strategy in company. In this stage vision
for quality improvement is defined so that everyone who is involved in process of quality
improvement is aware of what organisation is trying to achieve in terms of quality of medical
equipment. Defining vision also facilitate developing strategy and planning actions that will be
taken for quality improvement in etc. Once vision has been defined in this stage of quality
improvement strategy ETC request to determine specific strategy that can be used for strategy
improvement within company. Strategies that ETC will use for quality improvement in company
includes total quality management, Quality Assurance and quality control.
Total quality management is a strategy that focuses on improving overall quality of products and
is also customer focus strategy for quality improvement (Pambreni and et.al., 2019). In this
strategy ETC will ensure that design and development of product is as per customer requirement
and every step of process involved in manufacturing of medical equipment is continuously
monitored. Along with this while considering total quality management in quality improvement
strategy company will also required to and sure that every employee of company can involved in
process of quality improvement. This request to develop a system where employees can share
their ideas and opinion. In this one of the very important element is that employees are are
encouraged for continuous improvement it in quality of medical equipment. Company need to
consider different motivational practices for motivating and encouraging employees for
involving in quality improvement process as well as for practising continuous improvement.
Effective communication of vision can also be a very important practice through which etc can
get involvement of employees at every level. Along with this they also become able to
understand how they required to work in order to realise vision of company. It is very important
that total quality management strategy is also included in vision so that everyone can understand
and direct their efforts towards the strategy for vision. In this it is very important that decisions
by ETC are taken on the basis of facts rather than vague assumptions. Continuous and effective
communication is also very important strategy as well as practice to be considered in total
quality management strategy through which quality of medical equipment is aimed to improve.
Assessment
Assessment is step in process of introducing quality improvement strategy in which
company requires assessing market and quality being provided by competitors (Psomas and
Antony, 2017). This helps in identifying what improvements can made and also to determine
