INTRODUCTION Personal and development plan consists to the activities which improves self knowledgeand skills of an individual. It is the process by which an organisation and an individual isengaged with learning in order to meet desired goals and challenges. ; . It is associated with thedevelopment requirements of an individual as well as a group or institution. Along with this,professional skills are related to coaching and counselling staff in order to support them to learntheir own learning and development requirements. Hotel Marriott is chosen organisation in thisassignment which is one of the largest hotels in the UK. The brand has 552 hotels across theworld. In this report, PPD plan is created for an individual at specific position in order to knowthe areas where he/she needs to focus on. Various types of self-managed approaches and theirbenefits along with own learning aim and objectives are also defined in this report. At last, therewill be a discussion on work based problems and different time management strategies. TASK 1 1.1 Approaches of self-managed learning Self-managed learning is the way by which individuals can manage their own learning. Itmeans that companies have to adopt self-managed programmes that fit in their framework. Self-managed learning can also ensure that staff is developing in certain direction and individuals takethe responsibility of decisions about when, where, how and what they will learn.Below mentioned are some approaches of self-managed learning programmes like: Seminars and conferences – It is the most effective tool of self-managed learning. Ithelps people as they can become more confident in speaking at the public place. If HotelMarriott conducts seminars and conferences, it can develop presentation skills of theiremployees which are mostly needed in the business organisations. Internet – Self-managed learning can also be done through all internet tools. In themodern world, there are many software are rapidly increasing which are being used ineducation and training of employees in Hotel Marriott. With the help of internal, a personcan gain plenty of information as there are various videos and posts are uploaded on net;with this an individual can acquire many skills and competencies. every day.

Social media – This is another platform of self-managed learning that is the part ofinternet. Many people are connected through internet of various culture and nature asthey can learn from social media very easily. 1.2 Ways of personal and professional learning for long term Lifelong learning plays an important in better and effective growth of an individual. InHotel Marriott, employees have to develop new ideas and need to be innovative that helps themin their growth and development. So, as they need to learn certain tools and techniques that howto focused on life long learning. There are some of the major ways given which help in longterm learning in context of personal and professional development. These are stated as follows: An individual needs to read books, newspapers, journals and web-blogs. They canprovide the right direction to people as they could gain more knowledge and skills for lifelong purpose. There are various people who are spending their time on social media. This can provideinformation about social things which is too indispensable for personal growth anddevelopment.An individual have to take participate in social and cultural activities; where he or shecan learn various aspects of life. SWOT analysis is also an important tool in order to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses,opportunities and threats of the person. By that the same, such person can identify areason which he has to work. Managers of Hotel Marriott needs to conduct seminars and conferences so as theyemployees can participate in them. This can also a effective way for lifelong learningbecause it is the way through which an individual is interacted with many people. Employers also forces their employees to use internet where they can explore their skillsand competencies effectively.
