enhancing productivity of hospitality sector”. A study on Grosvenor hotel.
INTRODUCTION
Talent management is defined as the systematic process of determining the vacant
position for hiring the suitable candidate, working toward developing their skills and capabilities
in order to make them suitable for the position to which they are hired and retain them for
achieving organisational aims and objectives. Additionally the competency, power, ability of
employees in an organisation is also consider as talent management. For performing this
investigation Grosvenor hotel is taken into consideration which was founded in year 1929 and
headquartered in London (Bratton and Watson, 2018). This is a luxury hotel that offer range of
accommodation related services and get managed by JW Marriott hotel. The main aim behind
conducting this study is to determine the role of HR related practices in term of talent
management that further contribute toward enhancing the productivity within hospitality sector.
For performing this investigation both primary and secondary data collection is going to be used
within this investigation so that appropriate information can be presented to achieve research
aims and objectives.

P1 Produce research question, objective and literature review
Overview of the topic
Talent management is basically a commitment to hire, manage, prepare and retain the
qualified or skilled employees within organisation. It involve all the HRM practices that are
related with the retention and development of workforce. There are number of approaches
available which support in effective management of talent at workplace and keep them prepare
toward future challenges. These includes regular organisation of training and development
practices, assessment of employees performance, providing appropriate compensation over the
efforts of employees and many other. These approaches support an organisation top keep
employees retain for longer duration (D’Annunzio-Green, 2018). For performing current study
Grosvenor hotel is taken into consideration which is a luxury hotel manage by Marriott hotel. It
offers its hospitality and accommodation related services within several different countries.

Therefore, in order to maintain the quality of services offered, it become very crucial for hotel to
keep its employees aware about the change prevailing within the industry along with the changes
in demand of consumers (Gupta, 2019). So that they become able to develop the skills or
capability of its employees as per the requirement which not only help in keeping the hotel ready
for satisfying the consumers demands but also contribute toward the personal development of
employees that provide them a self of accomplishment at workplace.

To understand about the concept of talent management
To determine the benefit that Grosvenor hotel get by maintaining talent management for
enhancing productivity.
To ascertain several HR practices that leads in effective talent management within
Grosvenor hotel.

Rationale:-
The main purpose behind performing this investigation is to determine the importance of
talent management for a hotel and manner in which it is helpful in enhancing the productivity as
well as profitability of an organisation (Flick, 2015). In addition to this it will also support in
determining the actions that can be taken by a hotel for effective talent management.
LITERATURE REVIEW
The concept of talent management
As per the view Susan m. Heathfield, 2019, talent management is consider as a business
strategy that support an organisation in keeping its top most talented employees retained. In
addition to this it also act as a strategy that support in attracting the top most talent to the
organisation that build up capability to deal with competition. It is an ongoing process which

ensure set of efforts being imposed by a manager toward regular development of employees by
sharpening up their existing skills and providing them further knowledge which is beneficial for
them to perform further practices. Hence, regular development as well as professional
enhancement of employees support an organisation to maintain a workforce that contribute
toward improving the quality of services while keeping the customers satisfied. An effective
strategy of talent management also involve circulation of information in the form of appreciation
regarding the talent and potential of employees throughout the organisation to make other
department identify the benefit of talent when a certain challenge or opportunity get raised.
Benefit that Grosvenor hotel get by maintaining talent management for enhancing
productivity
From the point of view of Charles Coy, 2015, talent management is essential for any
organization to sustain its competitive edge within industry. Organization can improvise their
teams productivity by taking few measure into consideration such as boosting up the engagement
of employees in different activities so that their productivity curve improve consistently.
Company can conduct regular feedback sessions to review their final performance it enable
management to identify the issues face by employee. Positive outcome of new employee is
majorly depends upon on boarding process. Organisation that provides effective on-boarding
programs will definitely raise level of productivity of new joiners it includes setting out goals
and making employees understand company mission so that they value their efforts. The
management of Grosvenor hotel can adopt the strategy to foster and cherish the strong
performers of organization so that they can retain high potential employees also offer them new
opportunities to expand their growth. Grosvenor can align fair compensation packages to its
employees for their hard work. Hotel can provide other benefits along with remuneration so that
it keep employees motivated and drive their efforts towards common goal of organisation.
Grosvenor can maintain strategic talent management it provides opportunities to them in order to
attract more skilled employees which in turn improves its business performance and brings
fruitful outcomes.

As per the view point of Jenna Puckett, 2017, top organisations can achieved both
efficiency and effectiveness by emphasizing properly on talent management and have

appropriate understanding of what skills are required to develop in personnel for purpose of
attaining business success. Such companies focus on various talent procedures like planning,
development, engagement, and retention. There are some practices that any organization can use
in order to increase effectiveness of talented employees by setting clear standards of expectations
and arrange powerful organizational goals, appraise regular achievements of workforce, provides
growth development opportunities. Grosvenor can conduct a goal management practices which
enables them to set and track organisation as well as individual goals so that they both can be
interrelate with each other and work out together in achievement of common objective.
Moreover, Hotel can organize learning and development programs so that it will increase their
communication and interaction skills this in turn increase the level of customer satisfaction
which is beneficial for business. Grosvenor management can cultivate proper job description
about relative job position which makes easier for new employee to understand the key
responsibilities and duties of task. Organisation can adopt social sourcing platform to attract
fresh talents and reach out to different kind of candidates this helps organisation to effectively
get best players across world. Grosvenor can conduct time to time refreshment activities to
provide relaxed and stress free environment to its employees so that they keep themselves
energetic while performing any task.

Research methodology is a framework which involve a detail regarding the set of tools
and techniques used by investigator to perform their research in effective manner by directing
over the actions to be taken (Gioia, Corley and Hamilton, 2013). The research methods used in
this investigation are mentioned below:
Type of investigation:- A research is mainly performed in one of two type i.e.
qualitative and quantitative. Among them quantitative method of investigation will be consider
as it support in getting and interpreting the information in statistical manner which ensures that
the data gathered will help in concluding the adequate outcome out of the study. In addition to
this it also support in saving time.
Research approach: There are mainly two type of research approach used for performing
an investigation such as Inductive and deductive. But for performing this investigation deductive
approach will be taken into consideration as it help in evaluating the quantitative data in more
effective manner (Mackey and Gass, 2015). In addition to this it is also very much helpful in
