Introduction
Recruitment and selection is one of the tough yet essential part of the human resource
department of any organisation. It is important to hire employees with the right skills and
knowledge so that they can positively contribute to the growth and development of an
organisation. According to scholars, in order to hire employees one of the major steps is to
create a strategic plan in order to select the correct employee for the job role they are looking
for, so that it elevates the operations and productivity of the company (Ekwoaba, Ikeije &
Ufoma, 2015). This paper is going to create a selection strategy for the position of an
Assistant Manager for one of top telecommunication company in Saudi Arabia, Saudi
Telecom Company (STC) in order to hire an eminent manager who is going to efficiently
perform the duties of an Assistant Manager which will contribute to the organizational
benefits.
Discussion
Recruitment and selection is vital and is primarily designed in order to maximize the
strength of an employee so that the employee can meet the objectives and the goals set by the
employer. It is generally considered to be the process of screening, sourcing, shortlisting and
then selecting the proper candidate for the required positions that are vacant in an
organisation. Russell & Brannan, (2016) states that the selection strategy is basically
outlining the key principles which need to be applied to the assessment and the selection
process which focuses on identifying and also retaining talent in a company or an

The role of an Assistant Manager according to is basically to schedule employees,
provide training to new recruits and hire new candidates (Chang, Leach & Anderman, 2015).

satisfaction of the customers and thus, in order to get hired as an Assistant Manager of Saudi
Telecom Company, the candidate needs to be able to handle the escalated complaints of the

about the history of the candidate to assess the fact that whether they can be a threat to the
