INTRODUCTION
• Motivation refers to the process that focuses over encouraging each
employee in the workplace so that they can perform their roles and
responsibilities in a best possible manner (Adeoye, 2019).
• An organisation puts great effort to motivate and encourage employees
because they are their greatest asset (De Sousa Sabbagha and et. al., 2018).

1.2 Research Rationale
• The main motive of doing the present investigation is to increase the learning about the
practice of staff motivation strategies within an organisation to retain employees.
• This mainly focuses over carrying out in-depth data about the impact of employee
motivation on the current retention level of the company. It also aims at attaining two
objectives of researcher which are: personal and professional objective (Kafrawi Yunus
and et. al., 2019).

• To investigate effective strategies that can be adopted by Sainsbury to overcome

1.5 Significance of the Research
• The present study is significant because it covers in-depth data about the strategies of motivation in the
organisation (Mamun and Khan, 2020).
• This holds great importance for researchers, students and companies because this will help them in attaining their
own objectives and goals.
• In respect of students, this study will act as one of the resources to clear their
concept about motivation strategies for their academic purpose. In terms of
researchers, this study will act as secondary source and foundation to conduct
their own investigation.

• The Concept of staff motivation along with its need and importance
• According to Adeoye (2019), Motivation is the main activity which is used by
employer to influence and encourage their employees for the purpose of getting work
done and attaining higher productivity.
• It has seen that sometimes employees are leaving organization due to dissatisfied and
demotivation which affected the organizational performance negatively.

• According to Snyder (2019), Motivation refers to activity and process which are used
to fill employees requirement and increase the business performance. In business
organization different types of employees are working continuously who have different
needs and wants which created the challenge for business industry to operate their
business effectively

• As per view point of Ngozwana (2018), Now a days companies are facing the issue of
increasing employees turnover as if workforces is not satisfied then could leave the
industry that affected the business productivity and profitability. Employee motivation
is the main aspects for each business organization as it influenced people to work
properly and retain at the workplace

Conclusion of literature review
• From the report it can be concluded that motivation is needed at
workplace to influence number of people or employees to manage all
functions and activities. The managers should have proper information
and technology which can be used to develop the business performance.

• The identified literature review gap of the current investigation is that the chosen
number of secondary sources were not effective and efficient in collecting
numerical figures and content about the staff motivation schemes within an
organisation.

Conclusion
• From the report it can be concluded that motivation is the effective term to use by
organization as it influence, inspire, and motivate the people to work collectively
and supports to develop the business profits. This is important for each industry
to have skilled and talented work as they understand goals and give their
contribution to accomplish them.

Recommendation
• From the above it has been recommended to Sainsbury to focus on employee
motivation and engagement as it make feel happy to their staff and get ready to
work continuously.
• This is important for chosen organization to know what their staff wants and how
they could be satisfied so that kind of products and services should be provided
accordingly.

Implications
• From the above discussion it has been implicated that present research is helpful
for researcher as it developed the understanding and knowledge about
importance of motivation and its strategies which could be used by any
organization for the purpose of develop business productivity. This also helps to
increase the business performance in changing environment by satisfying people
which increases the employee retention rates.

Reflection
• I am glad that I was provided with the opportunity to conduct a research. The process of conducting
research was easier for me because I had knowledge about the several research methods which are
often used for accumulating and evaluating information. I have used positivism philosophy and
deductive approach with the motive of analysing and measuring numerical data. These two analysis
method have helped me in achieving objectives in limited time duration.

Alternative research method
• The current investigation has included questionnaire as the research method for
collecting primary information. The alternative research method which could
have been used in the investigation is interview. Interview is the greatest research
method for collecting in-depth primary piece of information in a systematic
manner. Thus, this research method assists in collecting detailed data in a precise
manner.
