INTRODUCTION
Project management is analysed as the application of processes, methods, skills, knowledge and experience in order to achieve
the project objectives. It is analysed as practice of initiation, planning, execution, control and winding up the work of a team in order
to attain specific goals and meet the specific success criteria at the specified time duration (Turner, 2014). Project management is
crucial activity that involved various crucial task which are needs to be performed by managers for accomplishment of key project
objectives. Present report is based on analysis case of QA Higher education which is planning for refurbishment of teaching rooms,
and computers labs in its London and Birmingham campus.
This initial document will clearly discuss the budgetary information, timescales, objectives, approaches, key staff and
stakeholder analysis. These project initiation documents help in completion of research and selected objectives. Further, Gantt chart is
also prepared to discuss sources, tasks, dependencies and milestone for completion of project. Risk register is also prepared to evaluate
the potential risks involved in project (Kerzner and Kerzner, 2017). It will also cover an explanation about information and
outcomes if process of risk management is not utilized. At the end, there are various important strengths and weaknesses of PRINCE
2 model have been analysed and used for completion of project.
TASK 1
Project Initiation Document (PID) is considered as important document that clearly determines major aspects of a project and
form basis for its management and assessment of overall success. In present context, project of QA higher education undertakings
that have been undertaken for completion of projects.

Task 1a – PID
Title of Project Project on the Refurbishment of teaching rooms, computers
labs
Estimated budget In order to accomplish the project, an estimate budget has
been prepared which involves classification of funds for
performing each activity. Funds are sponsored by the
Managing Director. For the refurbishment of project, there
are requirements of 675000 pounds as they need to buy
equipment, extra computers, furniture, lightings, its software
and other security systems.
For refurbishment of teaching rooms, they have to purchase
LCD screens and projectors which are required for
developing SMART classes for students (Marchewka, 2014).
At least 60% of the above budget requirements will spend
on the purchase of products.
Support desk for students most important part refurbishment
on which the project will provide 5% of budget expenditure.
10% of funds are provided for salaries which are paid to
workers (Larson, E.W and Bacarini, 2014). Other
expenditures will be made on purchase of small necessary
items, which are required for completion of project such as
documentation and product design etc. Sufficient balance of

funds will be sustained in order to cope with risk and
uncertainties that occurs at the time of completion of project.

Main approach will be applied at the time of completing
this project as monitoring of project management plan and
completion of activities in specified time limit must be done
(Fleming, and Koppelman, 2016). As per the given scenario,
the project of refurbishment will start from august 2018 and
needs to be completed at the end of September.
An aggressive and proactive approach needs to be adopted
for assuring the quality of work and completion project

Inappropriate utilization of financial resources and lack of
potential workers to complete the project is the major risk.
Objectives: The main objectives for undertaking project is to modify the class rooms and computers labs of QA higher
education institution in London and Birmingham. Different types of changes in work like improvement in technology and buying
furniture are discussed and accomplished to obtain the aim of developing appropriate learning environment.
Budgetary information: The total budget which is required for completion of project will be 675000 pounds. This budget
will be sponsored by Managing Director of QA higher education.
Timescales: The project will be carried by conducting the market research as it is essential for collecting important
information which is successfully required for completion of project. This task will be completed within one week. After completion
of these tasks, the next activity is to generate specific ideas and creating design for refurbishment. Completion of tasks like generation,
evaluation and selection of concept will be done so that project can be completed in specified time limit.
