This paper explores the impact of significant life changing events on individuals, focusing on the cases of Rita and Sue, elderly residents in a sheltered housing project, and Sandra, a woman grieving the loss of her husband. The paper examines the effects of these events on the individuals themselves, the responses of their social networks, and the effectiveness of organizational policies and procedures in providing support. It also reflects on the personal contribution of the author in supporting individuals facing such challenges and provides recommendations for improving health and social care services.
