INTRODUCTION
Organization structure & culture plays a very important role in every organization. This is
related to the structure which has been adopted by any organization since its establishment. This
report is based on Metropolitan police service, which was formed on 18 September 1829
(Christensen and et. al., 2014). Metropolitan polices services has lead to smooth functioning of
police services in London and is catering towards safety of people. Present report is based on
different organizational structures in public sector organizations, chart of culture in such
organizations and role of local and state government in search organizations. Various approaches
related to management structure, concept of organization behaviour and last key relationship
between motivation and organizational structure is analysed.

P1 Explain different public sector organisations with respect to their structure
Structure of Metropolitan Police services: This is divided in four main directorates which are
Front-line policing, Specialist operations, met operations & six staff departments in the Met
operations which is related to specialist crime and operations (Vuorensyrjä, 2018). There are
specialist operations & six civilian staff who are supporting departments in the Met headquarters.
Each is seen by Assistant commissioner and in cases where there is requirement of support in
department then director of police part of civilian grade (Miller, 2018). The management is
responsible for various strategic decisions being made in the metropolitan police (Fatsis, 2019).
This is the overall structure which is being adopted in this Police commissioner organisation.
The major head is commissioner who is an operational leader and us accountable or overall
functioning of company (Jones, 2013). This is a having a structure which is having distinction
done according to different functions which are taking place in this organisation (Rowe and
Macauley, 2019). Such functional divisions help in carried on of functioning in a more effective
manner in the metropolitan police commissioner.
Hierarchy structure: Hierarchical structure in a organisation is related to a structure on
which there is a hierarchy that consist of various levels that is flowing from top level to lower
level in a organisation.
Line structure: Line structure in a organisation is a simplest method used for
administrative purposes in a organisation. In this structure authority is flowing from top to

bottom. There is a line of command which consist of authority & responsibility relationships
flowing from top to bottom.
Matrix structure: Matrix organisational structure is a structure in which there is more
than one line of reporting relationships. In this employees from diverse department are working
together for achievement of organisational objectives. Matrix organisational structure is a
combination of project organisational and functional organisational structure.
Project structures: It is a structure that is related to combination of various identified structures
used in a project for pages, devices, objects and functions. In this type of structure all objects are
placed in a hierarchy structure. It eases in identification & location of individual objects in the
project. In case of public services organisation this structure leads to providing a framework that
can lead to development efforts with providing the required guidance and flow covering the
topography of local development landscape.
IOPC: IOPC is a intergovernmental organisation that is perceiving the required
compensation that is related to oil pollution damage may result from the oil spills of persistent oil
from tankers. All the major functions are carried on in this organisation by government of the
country. This is a public sector organisation in which there is procurement executives which are
responsible for research, designing and developing of various UK warheads. The overall
structure of such organisations is designed in such a way that major functions are carried on by
various executives who are part of this organisation. Just like metropolitan police this is also a
public services organisation and major aim is not to earn profits but is to help people of society
(Neuvone and Ache, 2017). This is a public sector organisation which has major function of
performing duties related to oil pollution damages (Rice, 2013). Organisation is having structure
which in form of authority and responsibility which is from authority to their subordinates. This
is helpful in overall functioning of this organisation. The structure has to implemented according
to the government of UK who is majorly responsible for how the functioning this public sector
organisation will take place.

Every organisation has a particular type of culture which forms the basis of all
organisation functions to take place in an more effective manner (Sznajder, 2017 ). There is a
model which are commonly known as handy's model of organisational culture which is basically
divided into four parts and is used by Organisation in assessing the type of culture which is
