strategic approach to talent management”.
LO2
P3: Primary as well as secondary research applying suitable methods
There are certain methods that will be require by researcher for doing primary and
secondary information in systematic manner. These methods are explained as below:
Research philosophy: It is known as the best methodology obtained by researcher to assess
the cumulative information gathered such that useful findings can be attained effectively.
Positivism and interpretivisim are two main forms of research philosophy that researcher
frequently use. According to the current study, positivism philosophy will be applied because it
facilitate in collecting and analysing of quantitative information (Beck and et. al., 2019).
Research Approach: This part of the methodology helps researcher in analisation of
information in qualitative as well as in quantitative form. Inductive and deductive are two forms
of research approach that plays important role in analisation of quantitative or qualitative data.
Within a research, deductive type of research approach would be applied as it assist investigator
in gathering of data or information in quantitative form. As comparison to inductive approach,
deductive approach is more useful as it not consume maximum time as well as capital of
investigator.
Data collection: To gather data about the specific area of study, there are two options
available for researcher which is primary and secondary (Brown and Rhoades, 2019).
Questionnaire is use for collecting primary information and books, magazines, articles etc.
sources will apply for gathering secondary data. Within a research, primary and secondary
sources of data collection will be used. One of the main advantage of using primary and
secondary sources is it provides reliable and in-depth information regarding the gender equality
and its significance on performance of company.

probability (Gray, 2019). For choosing sample size within a research, probability sampling will
be followed. Through probability sampling 40 managers of InterContinental Hotel will be
selected on random basis. Main reason for applying such type of sampling as it not takes more
time as well as capital of investigator. Non probability sampling is not appropriate according to
the current study because it take maximum resources of investigator or company.
Cost, access and ethical issues: In order to execute primary and secondary research,
research require appropriate amount of cost. Researcher also has full access to gather primary
data from the managers of InterContinental Hotel. Along with this, there is several numbers of
ethical issues faced by researcher by doing this researcher (Johnson and Christensen, 2019).
These issues are objectivity, carefulness, legality, confidentiality, openness, respect for
intellectual property, responsible publication, honesty and integrity etc. These are considering
main issues that have direct impact on researcher while doing this study. In order to deal with
these issues, researcher must follow each principle of research ethics such as informed consent,
autonomy, beneficence etc. These principles will support investigator in completion of full
project ethically and effectively.

P6 Reflect on the use of research methods
I am happy that I got a chance to perform research over a broad topic i.e. “The need for new
methods of working in hospitality sector to attain a strategic approach to talent management”.
This is a main purpose of doing this project in effective and systematic manner. For collecting
data about the topic I used questionnaire. This is a useful instrument that supports me by
providing primary and first hand data about the talent management. Along with this, I also
followed number of research methodologies such as deductive approach, positivism philosophy,
quantitative research etc. These are valuable methods because these facilitate me in gathering of
primary and quantitative information in lesser time period. Along with this, by doing this
investigation I become more able to enhanced my research skills i.e. data collection, review of
literature, data analysis and many other. I used all these skills during collection of information
regarding the talent management. Apart from this, I experienced several challenges during data
collection such as lack of time period, improper amount of fund, inadequate behaviour of
respondents etc. For dealing with such issues I used to make Gantt chart, following each
principle of ethics and so on.

P7. Alternative research methodologies and lessons learnt in view of the outcomes.
Interview is an alternative method of questionnaire. Within an investigation, questionnaire
has been chosen for collecting quantitative information regarding the management of talent. If
investigator obtains another chance for carrying out this project, they could use interview as it
assist them in gathering of qualitative information about the study. In this method, researcher can
make some close-ended questions. As it support them in collection of reliable and qualitative
data about the study (Richards and et. al., 2019). With the help of this research, an investigator
learns about the importance of talent management for both companies and employees.
CONCLUSION
From the above mentioned report, it has been concluded that most of the participants have
knowledge regarding the talent management and it’s important to both business as well as their
employees. There are different advantages of talent management for employees including
enhanced personal skills, boost up confidence and achieve job satisfaction. These are main
benefits that turn to support hospitality organisation in improvement of its business success and
growth. Along with this, there are several talent management initiatives that assist an enterprise
in enhancement of its success such as training and development, recognition and reward
maintaining individual identity. These are main initiatives that support an organisation to retain
top talent at workplace for longer time period. Apart from this, there are some biggest issues
faced by company while managing talent at workplace such as lack of diversity, need for digital
expertise, and competition for talent and many more. In order to reduce these challenges some
recommendations have been given to the company which are development of clear job
description, opportunities for continuous improvement and provide on-going coaching. These are
effective ways that will be beneficial for hospitality industry in retention of top talent for long
