P5 Describing the development of organizational policy in context of legislation and the
role of trade union
Policies can be referred to as a written statement which consists of set of rules ,
guidelines which are required to be followed by all workers in an organization. The
purpose of organizational policy is to ensure best practices at workplace. An
appropriate policy helps in improving the culture at workplace. Policy formulation
is considered to be as an integral part of planning procedure. It is very much
important for manager in Prudential public limited company to consider following
factors before developing the policies these are business goals, current legislation,
business environment etc. As this tactic will help management in developing an
effective policy.

CONT.
Management in an organization can involve employee sin policy making procedure
as this will support management in eliminating ethical issues. Formulation of
policy is lengthy procedure which involves different phases these are :
Identification of Policy area: At the initial stage of procedure, it is required by
manager in Prudential public limited company to conduct internal audit, as this
tactic will assist business entity in identifying the area for which the policy are
required to be formulated as well implemented.

CONT.
It will also support management in addressing the problem for which specific policy
is required to be enforced. At this face, management in an enterprise are also
required to consider the objectives as well as the demands of business (Jeanes,
2017). At this phase, role of trade union is to present the issues to management
which are faced by employees within in an organization. Some issues might be
discrimination , low salaries, poor working environment, long working hours etc.
As this act of trade union will help management in identifying the type of policy
which is required to be executed.
