INTRODUCTION
This practice ensures that the company has most skilled human resources in their
industry and provides the company competitive advantage over their business rivals. Talent
management refers to the methodological and organised strategic procedure of acquiring
talented and skilled employees in an organisation and ensuring that such employees
continuously improve their skills with strategic objectives of the company in mind. This
procedure helps business organisations source and retain skilled employees for every position in
the company. Business organisations aim to hire skilled employees and ensure that they stay
with the company for a long time period. Business firms which adopt effective management
strategies are able to survive in their industry for long time period with stable profitability due
to skilled workforce in their firm. This report is based on Marks and Spencer which is one of the
most successful retailer in UK. The company is headquartered in London and offers a wide
range of products to their consumers including apparels, Food products, home-ware. The
success of the company is attributed to 78,000 skilled workers recruited in various departments
and outlets of Marks and Spencer. The present research focuses on strategies used at Marks and
Spencer to hire and retain talented employees with the help of Primary and secondary research
to understand ways used by successful firms to hire and retain talented employees.
Research Aim:
To identify talent management strategies adopted by M&S and analyse their
effectiveness in attracting and retaining skilled employees.” A case study on M&S
Research Objectives:
To analyse the conception of talent management in relation to Marks and Spencer.
To determine benefits of talent management strategies adopted by Marks and Spencer.
To understand role of talent management in addressing employee well-being at Marks
and Spencer.

Project management Plan
A formal document that includes timelines, budget, scope and other deliverables that is
associated with a project. Project management plan in case of present research work mentioned
below:
Scope: The research is focused on developing a understanding of strategies for the
purpose of attracting and then retaining of employees. The study is based on investigator using
different methodologies for the purpose of achievement of laid down objectives (Meister,
2018). The aim is based on analysing the different talent management strategies that can be used
by organisation for the purpose of retaining and motivating of employees. The research is going
to help in analysing the overall challenges and further helping organisation to work toward
attracting, managing and further retaining of skilled employees for achievement of higher
progress.
Milestones: It is necessary to ensure that there is timely completion of different phases
and events that are part of a research project. Formation of research aim and objectives is the
initial steps in a research work. Further data and information is collected by application of some
primary and secondary methods of collecting information. With each specific activity there is
associated time frame in which it has to be completed. In present research work each activity
has to be completed in the time period that is assigned at the initial stages of research
(Schneider, Oliveira and de Souza, 2017). Further presentation of overall research findings is
very important as it is followed by performance review plan to reflect the project planning and
analysis of the outcomes that can help in professional and personal development of researcher.
Budget: It is important aspect of a research as it is providing information related to
resources that are required for completing the investigation. Financial resources are very
important for having all the resources as per specific requirement at different stages of research

(Martin, 2017). Resources can be in terms of human, financial, technological and other
different forms that are to be use for the purpose of achievement of laid aims and objectives.
Quality: the overall quality of information in the research is based on use of authentic
sources of information that can lead towards having higher reliability and validity of the overall
achieved outcomes. It is important to have reliable and relevant form of information for the
purpose of completing the research findings (Mohajan, 2018). In case of present research there
si use of relevant sources of evidence that is assisting researcher in having highly standardised
form of information as per research requirements.
Communication: It is the part of project management plan that is based on outlining of
various communication methods that is required for the purpose of completion of research
work. There are different modes of verbal and written communication techniques that will be
used for the objective of having clear lines of communication (Halaweh, 2018). There is use of
telephonic mediums for communicating with various team members in the course of research
work. Apart from this there are also certain written communication methods like e mail that are
used for making formal communications by the researcher.
Resources: There are some of the resources that are required essentially for completion
of research work. The main objective of project management plan is to focus on the overall
resources that are required for completion of research work. Some of the resources that are
essentially required in present scenario includes
Gantt chart: Gantt chart is a project management tool that si adopted for scheduling of
projects and further planning of activities. Gantt chart is used for simplification of the complex
projects and ensure that all activities are completed as per the specified time frame only. The
timelines and the tasks of project are presented with the use of a horizontal bar chart. The bar
chart is used for depicting the overall starting dates and the end dates of the project along with

its mentioned deadlines. In present research project there is need of timely completion of
research work without any type of compromise in the overall quality of research.
Work breakdown structure: It is a project management tool that is adopted for the purpose of
dividing all the activities in smaller tasks (Félix, Dias and Clemente, 2017). It is used for
achievement of higher effectiveness as each task is divided in smaller activities for making it
more manageable. This tool is used for the purpose of optimisation of the overall work that is
being dine by the researcher in course of present research work. It is used as hierarchical way of
ensuring that resources are utilised in a more optimal manner.

This part of the research methodology assists the researcher in planning , executing and
monitoring research. The research strategy includes experimental research, interviews, ,
surveys case study or systematic literature review (Flick, 2020). The research strategy fore the
present investigation is survey as it helps in conducting research cost effectively.
Data collection
This part of the research methodology is considered with effective collection of data.
Quantitative and qualitative methods are two types of data collection methods. Quantitative data
is related to statistics and numerical data while qualitative data deals with exploration of ideas
and meanings. The present investigation utilises both qualitative and quantitative data to gain
effective results.
Data Sources
Primary and secondary data are two types of data sources used in conducting
research .Primary data is gathered and owned by the investigator while secondary data is
gathered by an individual apart from the primary user (Eisend and Kuss, 2019). This
investigation utilises both primary and secondary data.
Research Sampling
This part of the research methodology is related to selection of ample group for
conducting effective research. Probabilistic and non-political are two types of research methods.
This research utilises probabilistic sampling method.
Research instruments
Questionnaire, online surveys, interviews are various types of research instrument. This
research utilises questionnaire as the research instrument as it helps in gathering data
economically and does not take time in completion.
