TITLE - How do multinational companies improve the recruitment, selection and training of
their employees to meet International requirements?
INTRODUCTION
Globalization is process by which an organisation can expand and develop their business
internationally and start to run or operate the business at global scale. This also describes the way
people interact and integrate with the group. This can be said as the process driven by
international trade and investment and assisted by the information technology.
The present report is based on NESTLE, which is the worlds biggest company in food sector,
with a 135-year history and operations in virtually every country in the world (Ahmed Dine
Rabeh, Jimenez-Jimenez and Martínez-Costa, 2013) . Nestle is a Swiss transnational food
company, that is propounded in 1866 in Vevey, Switzerland by Henri Nestle. With reference to
the present case, the policy of nestle deals to the recruitment, training and development etc.
Company want to expand the business at global scale, so for that they want to recruit and select
appropriate candidates, so they want the methods to enhance the process of recruitment and
selection at international level. The report includes goals and objectives that is mentioned in the
scenario. As well as, the scope and project management plan with work breakdown structure and
Gantt chart is also going to be mentioned. In the end the report will wind up by suggesting to
company.

Globalisation is the term used for growing the activities of business at global level to
attain the profitability along with the attention of more customers for enhancing the business
growth. As globalisation took place in all over the world, it increases the concept of
recruiting of people in outer countries. Recruitment and selection at global level should be
done by companies carefully so that right candidates are employed (Crane and Matten,
2016). If the company fails in doing so then they have to face the financial loss, time
wastage and goodwill or reputation of company will decline. Nestle is a leading Swedish
brand which deals with drink and food company. Its headquarter is at Vevey, Switzerland.

The various food products offered by Nestle are medical food, bottled water, coffee, dairy
products and many more. Nestle has initiated policies that deals with remuneration,
training and development, strong leadership, recruitment, for enhancement of their
employees’ ratio.
Background of research
Nestle company is operated in food industry and formed by the merger of Anglo-
Swiss Milk Company and Farine Lactee Henri Nestle during 1905. As the company is
globally offering products it is important to maintain reputation in front of customers and be
loyal to them by providing quality products. Recruitment and selection are very important
for any organisation as they provide the employees that will useful in attainment of goals
and objectives. Nestle is a profitable company but it is facing issues in recruitment at
international scale. To prepare the workforce profitable to the organisation, above company
is focusing on selection, training etc. (Den Hertog, Van der Aa and De Jong, 2010) . The
top level of management of Nestle conducted a research to analyse the different issues that
are a hindrance for the company to hire good candidates. In this context, a suitable aim and
objective has been made by the investigator which is defined as under:
Aims : “To evaluate about the ways to enhance the recruitment, selection and training of
international companies employees at global level
Objectives :
Defining the term globalisation.
To identify different methods that can enhance recruitment, selection and training of
employees of Nestle at global level.
Questions :
What is meant by term globalisation ?
How the different ways can be identified to improve the recruitment and selection,
training of employees at international scale?
Project management Plan - It is defined as the formal documentation which helps
leaders and managers to manage and execute projects and achieve long term profits from it.
There are various components of project management plan such as size, scope, schedule,

risk communication factors etc. (Smith, Binns and Tushman, 2010) . The formal document
consists of various functions including developing, combining and describing activities. In
context with the Nestle company the managers and leaders use this tool to develop effective
decision making policies and recruitment and selection process that will help in growth and
development of the business (Eckerson, 2010) . Herein, project management plan's factors
are described such as:
1. Cost : It is defined as the term that determines the amount of money required in
accomplishment of any project. The Nestle managers and leaders identify funds that they
have to spend in completing the project in an effective manner. The company managers
and leaders choose the tools and techniques to be applied in project accordingly by
estimation of cost. In context with Nestle, cost estimated by the researcher for enhancing
recruitment process will be around 6000 pounds and cost to company is estimated to be
around 150000 pounds.2. Scope : It is a term that is used to explain different prospects of growth. In this factor
opportunities of future and present are described. It is essential for any company to have a
better strategic planning for accomplishing project and increasing productivity of the
company. Also, this impart several growth expectations and opportunities for the
company which further provides it a stable market image of a firm. All these factors
need to be evaluated carefully so that better quality goods and services can be
manufactured thereby providing a strategic edge to the Nestle.
3. Time : Time is an important factor in project completion. Time taken to accomplish the
project can be around 3 months to 6 months. Time of the project depends upon the
characteristics of project. In relation to Nestle, managers took around 3 months to
complete this project. As well as researcher took the 50 days.
4. Quality : It is necessary Nestle company to have a good recruitment process to hire
right candidates. This will be quite helpful to them as they will be able to maintain
their overall goodwill and brand image in competitive market. In context of Nestle
the managers analyse various recruitment processes. They can choose internal as well
as external recruitment process for selecting the best candidate for increasing
productivity and efficiency of the company.
