INTRODUCTION Working in teams refers to the group of people who work together towards
achieving a common goal. Effective team is very important in an organisation
which assist in implementing strategies and decisions more efficiently. For
managing these teams correctly, there is a need of a good leader or manager
who could manage and guide them to accomplish certain targets (Kozlowski
and Bell, 2019).
Qualities of an effective
team Effective team refers to a group of people who work together to achieve
common goal or target which helps in company's growth. These teams are
built on some characteristics which are explained below:
Clear direction:
These teams have clear mission, vision and goals which are accepted
by every member on team as well as they also have proper action plan.
Openness:
The working environment around these teams are informal,
comfortable and they could freely express their views to each other. They
have clear communication and discuss every aspects of projects before
reaching to any conclusion (Tkachenko and Ardichvili, 2020).
Participation:
One of the important quality an effective team possess is that every
member in team participate in decision-making process and encourage each
other to give their inputs in the assigned project.
Clear roles and responsibilities:
In an effective team, workers are assigned their respective duties and
work is distributed fairly among them according to their skills.

Different team styles
Teams are organised in different ways according to their goals and
targets. Some teams have simple objectives and others face complex
intentions (Voelkel and Chrispeels, 2017). Different types of team which
could be observed in companies are as follows:
Functional Teams:
These types of teams involve employees of similar department
with distinct roles and responsibilities as well as every member must
report to their managers. This team style is like top-down management
system which is implemented by most of the companies.
Cross-functional Teams:
These types of teams consist of members from several
departments and they handle specific task which requires different
approaches along with diverse expertise (Zerbini and et. al., 2020). These
type of team style is dynamic as distinct personalities and perspectives are
being embraced in a single project.
Self-managed Teams:
Under this team style, employees manage their responsibilities
without the presence of managers and work with dedication in order to
accomplish growth for company. These team members have broad
objectives but they possess same goal which is to enhance productivity of
organisation.
Virtual team:
This type of team consists of workers who are at different physical
locations and depends on virtual tools to communicate in order to
accomplish common goal. These teams limit social interactions but they
are able to collaborate with others employees even though they are miles
apart.
