WORKING IN TEAMS
Effective team are team that work together to achieve the specific team goals and objectives to fulfil the target
of company. Building the effective team styles for organisation plays important part in success of firm and in
the company Asda this will facilitates in accomplishing its mission. The role and qualities of team leader is as
necessary to direct and guide the team members and they use certain leadership style to achieve the target in
team.
1.1 Discuss the qualities of effective team
Effective team refers to group of people who work together to achieve the common goals and make it
successful. It include the ability to set aside personal produces and completion of task is necessary as it remain
competitive and people used to work closely and collaborate effectively. In the Company Asda, the importance
of effective team is important and will be very useful to accomplish the task. Following are the characteristics
of effective team are as follows-
1. Clear goal- It is importance for every team to measure the purpose and objectives and every team
member knows the reason of its existence. The realization and communicate the team goals and
desired outcomes the team flexibility develop the best way to achieve the target. In the context of
company Asda, the clear direction in team will help in clear objectives and goals that need to be
fulfilled.
2. Open communication- This refers to the building better relationships and transparency in all team
members through they easily able to deliver the message in appropriate manner. In the company Asda
this will ensure the proper communication and handle the team members effectively and helpful in
sharing ideas and insights.
3. Proper defined roles- In team the specific roles and thinking styles are very important in
effective team where they able to deliver the task at better manner and they will be responsible for
their task. In the company Asds, if they are know their roles and specification than it will be easy to

There are different styles of teams are there that helps in managing different people in organisation.
In the company, Asda some different styles of team are as follows-
Special purpose teams- These are forms with the special purpose or one time off project and it
includes the working committee for events and come together to solve problem. In the context of
company Asda they used to form usually to achieve the specific problem and teams are not
permanent.
Multifunctional teams- These involve the members from different expertise and come together for
short-term basis and it depends on the nature of organisation. In the company, it could be proof
effective to carry out the specific project and task and helps in building innovations and come up
many opinions.
Self- directed teams- It does not have the clear leader and shared the responsibility of work and it
not exist in big organisation and usually in small companies. In Asda, this might could be benefit to
achieve the results in effective way.

There are many styles that is suitable for different organisation according to their nature and size,
functions. In the Asda, the preferred team style that will be benefit is Multifunctional team as this include the
many members from different department and has creative opinions and ideas that gives the better solutions to
company.

The reason to build effective team is necessary and will be very important for every organisation to
have the team. In the company the approaches to build effective team is set the clear direction for every team
member so that they know what need to do and other thing is open communication in team is necessary to
accomplish the task.
