INTRODUCTION
This assignment tells about various functions of UK based courier organisation, Purple
Mail Company (UPS). Designing and implementation of the strategies are main activities of any
business unit (Aitkenhead and McCann, 2017). Work of Human resource management (HRM) is
to encourage people at workplace and it is their responsibility to make an environment in which
resources can be utilised at its best. However, Working with team supports enterprises to achieve
the goals. In this case study, Purple Mail Company (UPS) has been considered (Edge, 2017). It
is a courier company in UK. Currently, it is facing issues regarding leadership, management and
other administrative issues. This assignment will cover the HR strategies to recruit and select
new staff for the company.
Task 1
1.1 Preparation of documentation for selection and recruitment process
The process of recruitment and selection is essential for getting the best suitable
candidates for companies like UPS. For hiring, HR needs to prepare two important documents
that are job specification and person specification. Documentation is very important to find most
suitable candidate among so many.
Job description: It is document that describes job profile as whole and also what will be the
responsibilities of post which is vacant.

Person specification: This document specifies about personnel skills for vacant post.
Qualification Applicant should have a degree of MBA from
any recognized university.

good in analysis reporting in such a way that it
can properly coordinate with other top
managers of company. Should have knowledge
about all the employment laws and regulations.
Experience Minimum 2 years' experience in this field.
1.2 Impacts of legal, regulatory and ethical considerations
Regulatory, legal and also ethical considerations are most important for any company
like UPS. By this, the company can have systematic procedure of recruitment. It will help to hire
the staff in lawful manner (Fredrickson, 2016). As a Human Resource Manager(HRM) of UPS,
it is known that the impact of legal and regulatory work would be wide in range on the
recruitment process of new staff. Equality Act 2010: It makes unable to do partiality with employees by discrimination. Its
HR's duty to maintain this rule in cited firm. This act prevents staff members from the
discrimination in regards with any disability, sex, race etc. The act makes HRM liable to
create healthy environment at workplace (Goetsch and Davis, 2014). It also allows
candidates to be selected on the basis of their skills and talents required for the post. Act for protecting data, 1988: This act has been imposed to employers for the data
protection of the employees. UPS trains their staff to this regarding so that they cannot
leak any information of employees.
Wages and Employment Act: The act for employment tells HRM to treat every worker
equally and also decide wages according to their performance, skills and consistency
(Goleman, 2017). If UPS does not follow these rules, employees can complaint for wage
revision and partiality so it can be harmful for cited fiem.
1.3 Evidence of selection process
Being a HR manager, it should follow the process of selection which is as follows:
Firstly, publish the news for vacant post. UPS is publishing news this regarding into
newspapers. It can also contact employment agencies to recruit more skilled people.
In order to select appropriate candidate for the firm, HR must schedule written tests. In
this way, it will be able to choose more talented individuals. Also, he can conduct some
qualitative and quantitative aptitude of aspirants.
