INTRODUCTION The Working with leading people is very important for business managers to grow their business organisation at high level. In present assignment of PurpleMail Company (PMC) which is leading courier firm in UK who recently faced loss in its business due to bad delivery to their customers and high turnover of employees. So, they need some fresh and young mind employees in their organisation (Blanchard, 2010). Every organisation whether its big or small needs to appoint some new employees in company to grow their business by following proper recruitment process to hire appropriate employees. Cited company is specialised in providing postal services. There are around 84 employees working in the organisation. HR department coordinates with employers and employees. This project isabout recruitment, retention and selection procedure of workers and about working culture of organisation. TASK 1 1.1 Recruitment and selection process In every organisation HR plays a very significant role. In every organisation success mainly depends upon its creative , innovative and skilled employees who are highly committed towards work. So, all organisations focusses to get creative labour force and innovative mindset. Retention, selection and recruitment process is very important in every organisation to get success. First of all HR departmentof Purple mail company needs to make following document for recruitment and selection process of new staff member in the organisation. Recruitment approval:This process starts after taking approval from top authorities of organisation who need new employees in organisation then send them draft with description of position and document in which required skills and qualifications are mentioned. The authority of Purple mail company send draft after approval to its Human resource department. Then after taking approval the recruitment and selection process starts to hire new employees for the organisation (Bush and Middlewood, 2013). Description of position:Before making any advertisement, company must determine the position for which recruitment process is going to happen. For every organisation, it is important to describe position description as after making advertisement company can't change the defined position. It must also be approved by upper authority of organisation. 1
Advertising:It play very important role in the process of recruitment which is done by HR of the company. It also requires approval from executive director of HR department of purple mail company. Through this company get potential candidate and more choices for required position in the organisation. 1.2 Impact of regulatory consideration to selection and recruitment process Before starting recruitment and selection process HR should be aware of all rules and regulation of organisation which help to reduce risk in all these process like checking job offer problems, job posting or difficulties faced during interviewing. There are many impacts of recruitment and selection process because of legal, regulatory or ethical consideration which are defined as follows: Equality regulation:Every individual should getequal benefits in all process of recruitment and selection process. If HR make any differentiation between two then it will be unlawful. Law impact in advertising stage:Before making any advertisement related to job, HR should make sure there should by no discrimination of age, sex, nationality, gender, etc within organization (Crosby, Bryson and Stone, 2010). Impact in interview phase:Every phase of recruitment must be lawful and obey every law. HR should not disrespect any candidate by asking them anyquestion related to their religion. Right of employment:Business people should determine that their employees have enough skills and abilities to work within organization.They must collect all information to check the criminal record of person. Selection panels or recruitment:The HR selectrecruitment and selection panel for selecting candidate for appointment. The panel always selected by HR of the company. Short list:By conducting interview rounds organisation should short list best candidate. After then HR arrange interview process for all selected or short-listed candidates. 1.3 Selection process HRdepartmenttakepartinallrecruitmentandselectionprocessaftergiving advertisement for the job. For example; judges or jury members are hiring employees on the basis of their talent, education qualification like; graduate people are appoint as salesmen and so on. In fact, I have observed numerous of things which act as evidence that I was a part of selection process such as- ï‚·Number of candidates which are available for interviewing session like; around 20 individuals are present for job. ï‚·Selection are accomplishing on the basis of experience, diploma and master degree. ï‚·Almost one subject judge, one management member, one HR manager is available at selection process. ï‚·Around 2-3 hours was consumed in this entire process. ï‚·Almost 3-4 rounds are there for getting selected as a salesmen. Thus, above elements are acting as an evidence which proofs that I was a part of selection process and know the overall procedure of hiring a final employee at workplace. 1.4 Contribution towards election process There are many ways through which human resource department select the appropriate candidate for the vacancies available in organisation which are defined as follows: By selecting panels of selection and recruitment:For selecting right employee for organisation HR department select right panel of selection and recruitment process. In company, the HR is going to conduct interviews for hiring for three positions. So, there should be three selection panel for recruitment of new employees in the organisation who take interview of candidates. Short listing:When applications of selected candidates are received, the selective panels prepare a list by using different methods and techniques. There are some popular techniques and methods of short listing viz; IQ test through creating the MCQ question papers, etc. which helps 3
to organise in selecting right candidate for required position according to their ability (Flint, 2011). Interviews: In this process recruitment and selection panel takes interview of selected individual. In process of interview the panel questions about their background, their education background, culture background, their experience, etc. Appointment:That candidate is selected for the required position who satisfy the requirements of interviewer through his skills and capabilities. In appointment process HR department provide final hiring letter for those individuals who clear all rounds of interviews which is organised by recruitment and selection panel. Through the above evidences of selection process it has been understood that I am a very indispensable part of selection process in an organization because I know every depth of the overall procedure. Basically, I am playing a role of management member and liable for managing all the process in proper manner in order to attain the set objective. As our main motive is to hire best or eligible person for the post of salesmen. This is only possible if all the activities are properly organized and managed without any confusion or mistake. Along with this, I am arranging all the activities in suitable manner and collecting relevant data or information about each or every candidates for making corrective decision. Additionally, I am suggesting also to other jury members while making final decision in selecting best candidate. TASK 2 2.1 Skills and attributes Leader have different kinds of skills and attributes to perform all task in organisation successfully to get best result. Some of them are as follows: Decision making skills: It is very important for a leader to have, who play crucial role while taking important decision, to solve problems and to face challenges in comparative market. Passion:Good leader must have passion towards work they do within the organisation and outside the organisation to achieve goals (Fullan, 2014). Communication skill:In order to communicate with other people it is important to good communicatingskillsinleaderwhomanagesvariousoperationsinorganisationthrough developing effective communicating channel. 4
2.2 Leadership and management Leadership:Leaders have followers not subordinates in the organisation but in some organisation they have but only in the case where they have to manage the company. Mainly they are risk seekers who love to do catch opportunities for the advantage of company which others avoid. They are always ready to accept the change and change mind of others by motivating them to do work. Their main focus is to lead people as they have followers to whom they approach to do some difficult task by guiding them (Gardner and Laskin, 2011). Management:They have stability in the organisation as they are on some position in company to regulate all functions effectively. They are not risk seeker as compare to leaders as they are seek to comfort. They have fix objectivities according to which they perform all activities and tasks in the organisation by making good plans detail who give way to achieve goals in certain period of time (Peterson, 2011). 2.3 Styles of leadership For being a leader there are some areas which are naturally developed and some which need training for development. To identify the weaknesses and strength and develop strong management style one needs to familiarize oneself with good leadership qualities. Obsession:Every person who has some passion , they work for it and give it a priority just like a leader should be. Sharing the same passion with the employees working under a leader gets motivated by the enthusiasm and gets more productive in an effective manner. Praising, motivation, sharing are some basic things which gives energy to an employee to work more hard and give more productivity (Flint Jr, 2011). Communication:Strong leaders have the capabilities of good communication with the lower as well as higher division. It takes hard work, practice and communication skills to explain the task or projects to the staff members. Good communication skills leads to minimum error and misunderstandings between the leader and its followers and also keeps an update of the changes to the projects occur. Team Building:Working together as team and avoiding the competitiveness between group can lead to more efficient and effective team building and productivity. Solving the issues as an group by group meetings encourages the relationship to prosper. Decision making:A leader should be sound minded because the followers always look for the leader when it comes to the decision making so the leader should be active among them 5

and while taking decision he\ she should takes suggestion for an effective and efficient outcomes. 2.4 To achieve objectives there are different way to motivate staff In every organisation there are various motivational approaches use by the managers to motivate their employees to work more effectively to achieve organisation goals and objectives. Some of them are X and Y theory, two factor theory and Maslow's need hierarchy theory. The purple mail company should use Marslow's need hierarchy theory to motivate their employees to get best result from them (O'Loughlin, 2011). Give reasonable salary:Purple mail company should provide reasonable salary to their organisation according to their ability. By handsome salary employees get motivated towards work because it help to fulfil their basic neds and psychological needs. Treat every employees equal with respect:The culture of organisation effect the employees performance so there should be good culture where all employees get respect from everyone.Treatingemployeeswithsamerespecthelptobridgethegapfactoroftheir performance and motivate them towards task and work. TASK 3 3.1 Benefits of team working For the success of organisation team work is very important. It is best way to share skills and knowledge of all team member. In team working task they are depend upon each others as no one is not individually responsible for the failure and success of organisation. The unity of team help to find out best method or plan with their knowledge to get success in less time period (Day, 2014). There is many benefits of team working in organisation which are as follows: Efficiency growth:Team-working is important element for organisation to get success by doing work effectively. Employees share thoughts, ideas, plans and important information which make them specialized in their performance. Improve employees relations:It is also important in improving employees relation in the organisation by giving more opportunities and innovative thought of idea which help to perform well in different types of projects and task in the organisation. When employees work in team as together to make something best, they always try to understand each others mind and thoughts. 6
3.2 Demonstrate working in a team as a leader The purple mail company face losses because of high turnover of employees so they start to work in team to face all difficult situation while performing day to day task. They find out solution of their problem by working in group or team. They are very successful by doing work done in team in all organisational tasks and activities. We think their team roles use Belbin's team roles model in their organisation (Goetsch and Davis, 2014). Coordinator:They are goal oriented person who focus on objectives and goals of organisation and perform all activities and task according to them. Shaper:It help to give shape to work and task of organisation by using his knowledge and skills. They are focused and hard-working leader who motivate their employees to face the difficulties and challenges. Implementer:This type of people work with cool mind and try to contribute high struggle in the organisation by giving his best. Team builder:They all contribute towards their team's goal by performing well in task and activities. Specialist:Person use different kind of techniques and model which are rare in supply within the organisation and outside the organisation. 3.3 Effectiveness of team to achieve goals The team of Purple mail company is very effective by doing work in different type of environment in competitive world to get success. They require fresh mind of people to perform all tasks effectively. The team members of purple mail company have knowledge and diversity of thoughts and skills in their all team member who help them to face any challenges and problems. The team work require some ethical code of behaviour as many different people work their in team to achieve organisation goals and objectives (Fullan, 2014). Their should be respect in all team members mind for each others which help them to work effectively and efficiently as a team member. The team member of purple mail company use Belbin's team role model to perform all works effectively to achieve organisational goals. The good team can lead anywhere by their handworks and knowledge the give best result to company which play very important role in achieving organisational goals and objectives. They provide new ideas and plans to solve challengesandproblemsoforganisationinsufficienttimeperiod.Ineveryorganisation 7
employees should perform every task in team so that they get best result or projects. In team work people share their ideas and thoughts to perform well in organisation. TASK 4 4.1 Monitor and assessment of work performance The performance of new employees in the organisation is monitor by different ways which are as define: Setting methods:The company organise some random check of quality control so every employees should be more attentive towards his work. They don't tell anyone about this methods so at the time of checking no one get conscious in their work. Feedback from customers and clients:Company always take feedback from their clients and customers who give them correct information about their products and services. It is best method to monitor or access the performance of employees in the organisation. Performance appraisal:There should be always made performance appraisal to enhance the employees work in the organisation. 4.2 Assessment of development need The organisation analysis the need of training for employees according to their need of improvement. There is some ways for assessmentof need in company: ï‚·By analysing new strategies to achieve goals and objectives. It is very important for every organisation to make continuous change in their strategies and plan time to time. ï‚·Person analysis in which their potential level find out to perform any task and activity in the organisation. ï‚·Find out new work and task for their employees who need training and need some improvement in some areas. ï‚·Check their level of performance and according to their performance sufficient training provided to them. ï‚·Byfindtrainingsuitabilityforemployeesaccordingtotheirperformanceinthe organisation. If they need less training then it will provided them according to their ï‚·Analyse the need of content it include skills, knowledge, information, techniques, methods, ideas, etc. which are more important for the company to perform all the tasks in the organisation. 8

There is so many methods through which the performance can be evaluate one of them is SWOT analysis of company. Swot analysis help to find strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of company and according to them take correct action (Crosby, Bryson and Stone, 2010). CONCLUSION From the above study it has been concluded that leadership is very important in organisation to perform all task and activities effectively to achieve organisational goals on certain period of time. There is many leaders who make changes in the organisation to make successful in competitive market. The leader influence anyone's mind by motivating by guiding them to perform certain task and help to face difficult challenges and problem in the organisation 9
by making something innovative and different. If every employees of the company follow leaders properly then organisation get success in less period of time by making less efforts. In purple mail company products and services deliver late and there is no benefits provided to employees in organisation as before so there is high turnover in company. So every company should focus on their employees need and deliver products and services time to time to their clients and customers to satisfy their expectations. 10
